I intend to roleplay my Warrior with a grin and a wink. I'm sure there will be moments of brooding, but it will more than likely be masked by the smirk of defiance!

I have yet to find anyone to roleplay with. However, that's probably due to me being low level and not having a lot of time around the hotspots yet. I'm mainly trying to level up at the moment. Hoping I run into some people or perhaps some nice people reach out.

I've seen several of you across the forums with hand-drawn likenesses of your characters. Especially on some Wiki's I've looked at. Where are some of you obtaining them from? Did you make them yourself? What's the story?

Was on for a while last night. Limsa was very busy. Didn't get to socialize with anyone yet. Was running around leveling up, doing quests, etc. If you see me by chance, don't be shy!

Well, I'll be hanging around Limsa Lominsa a lot for a while, as I'm a Marauder starting out. Not sure when I'll make it to Ul'dah.

Nester Jehmway is now on Balmung! I'll be logging into there for the first time this evening. Looking forward to meeting and playing with you all. I'm so excited!

As soon as my character that's sitting on a different server has existed long enough, I'm paying for transfer to Balmung. Last several days of trying early in the morning has been fruitless. Hopefully, I should be joining you all sometime Wednesday evening.

As I train up Gladiator to reach Warrior, I'll get a feeling for that side of the stage as well. Perhaps I will ultimately be a renaissance man when it comes to tanks. I'll be them all! 8-)

You can call me Nester. I'm a big Nitendo fan. 32 years old. I'm known around the net and various gaming consoles, communities, etc. as NESv1. I own every Nintendo system there's been. I have every issue of Nintendo Power magazine. I currently have in the living room a Wii U, Playstation 4, and Xbox One. The XBOne is my primary console at the moment out of the three. Gamertag is NES v1 (note the space). As for MMO's, I've played and roleplayed in MMORPGs since Ultima Online in the late 90's. Just about every MMO release since then I've dabled in. Never played Everquest 1, strangely enough. Community is the cornerstone to an MMORPG. Too many MMO's feel like just that, where it feels they dropped the RPG. I detest the MMO's that feel like a single player game that just HAPPENS to have other people playing and just HAPPENS to charge a monthly fee. Yuck! Grouping, roleplaying, and experiencing a second life is like nothing else. That's why I've turned my attention back to FFXIV. I played FFXIV closer to launch, but had to step away from it for various reasons. Now, I find myself back and ready to start anew. So, I'm a noob again. And I'm okay with that. All I need to do wait to transfer to Balmung (unless Gilgamesh grabs me too hard in the meantime). We will see. I'm married, have a 6yr old daughter. My son is due to be born by the end of February. I'm a PC Support Specialist (IT guy). My family and gaming is my life. In that order. As for roleplaying, I'm open to all types. The more the merrier. I look forward to establishing an RP relationship with someone eventually. And I don't believe adventuring and roleplaying have to be mutually exclusive. RP on the go! The whole game is a stage... If Balmung does end up being my ultimate home (and probably will), I look forward to meeting you all. I'll come post a big "HERE I AM" post once I properly land in Balmung. I've been married for over a year now. Our daughter, who is 6, is not mine biologically, but I am the only Daddy in her life. I've been raising her since she was 2. Soon, she'll have a little brother. Due by the end of February. I'm adopted myself, so this new child will be the first person I've ever met who shares my dna. No idea how I will act. I just know I will be the best father I can be. It's just around the corner, yet seems so far away. I'm going to wake up one day soon and realize that he's about to be born. There's a lot of emotion bubbling inside that will come pouring out on that day. I just know it. My life was already turned upside-down when my wife and I began entwining in to each others' lives. And now it's about to flip again. I'm so scared. I'm so excited. I'm going to have a son! :lol:

Big axe? Or sword and shield? Aesthetics aside, however, what really should go into a decision between pursuing Gladiator/Paladin VS Marauder/Warrior? Those of you that have played both or been in groups with both, what really defines a Warrior over a Paladin? Or vice-versa? All insights appreciated!

I think I'll play my Gilgamesh character and see where it leads me until a few days from now when he's able to transfer. Then I will make my decision. If I haven't had a fulfilling community experience and/or haven't found any roleplay by then, I will transfer to Balmung. But, please continue this thread, keep it alive. I still want to hear all thoughts. And I'm sure there are others out there who will look to this thread for guidance. :tonberry:

I'm creating this thread out of necessity since I don't want to continue to clog up the "Balmung is open" thread. Basically, for the last several days, I've been getting up early to try to make a character on Balmung. It's my impression that Balmung is supposed to be the best RP/Community there is for FFXIV. However, one morning Gilgamesh opened up. I made a character there while I could. And I've found that there are nice and friendly folks there. So, I can either stay on Gilgamesh, or wait til Wednesday and transfer to Balmung (tired of waiting in mornings). Going to Balmung means leaving behind the handful of people that have simply been nice and social to me just because I was new. Staying on Gilgamesh means leaving behind this forum basically and forever wondering if Balmung would've been a better decision with a much better community. It's not an easy decision, since I don't have much to base my decision on. Therefore, I bring it to the best FFXIV forum I know out there. YOU GUYS!! :thumbsup:

Well, the short time I've played around on Gilgamesh, I did meet a few nice folks who simply private msg'd me out of the blue simply because I was new or had asked a question about warrior vs paladin. My experience on Gilgamesh has surpassed my expectations. I'm sure it's a great server and some great communties are there to become a part of. However, Balmung is still in the back of my mind. Either I will stick witH Gilgamesh or pay to transfer on Wednesday to Balmung. Problem is, I'm still not sure what I will decide... :dazed:

So, stay with Gilgamesh or wait go to Balmung? Is Balmung that worth it community-wise?
