I can't find it now (though I haven't looked too much into it) but I think I remember a question about how teleportation actually works. I'll also have to go back and rewatch some of the Titan cutscenes where Y'shtola explains it. Basically what someone suggested was that when it happens our bodies are transformed into the raw aether and rejoin the Lifestream (as you mentioned). But how do we know where to go? Our souls then guide the part of the Lifestream that's still us to the desired aetherite and then we reform. So perhaps the souls aren't necessarily a part of the "aether cycle" but instead some sort of separate entity? Not sure on this one, because I haven't gotten the vibe that souls are aether-based. That could just be that I'm not far enough in the storyline, though.

Hello and welcome! That's quite an interesting name you've chosen there. I won't judge, however. I've seen many fine and fun people to RP with that have had all kinds of names. I highly recommend looking at the Role-Play Handbook to start. It has so much good information to help you get started. Free Companies are much like guilds in other games. Linkshells are just chat channels. You can be in only one FC, but up to 8 Linkshells. The Linkshell Hall has a listing of many of the IC/OOC linkshells available, and you can even sort to only see the ones on Balmung. There are a couple of OOC linkshells listed there (such as Intermission and the LFRP ones) that can be a good springboard for finding RP. It also helps a lot to unlock the airships from the level 15 story quests so you can get around to the other cities, but from the looks of it you're well on your way in that regard. Once again, welcome to the community!

Hello and welcome! Always happy to see new faces around here. Along with the ones mentioned above, you can find a number of Linkshells to join a the Linkshell Hall. You can even sort by server! Please note that we're undergoing a bit of clean-up in the area, so not all of the Linkshells listed are currently active. It should be tidied up soon, though! As to your lore question, there's lots of information here in the RP Discussion board. A quick search should help you find what you need, but for a sort of repository you can check out the Lore section in the Role-Play Handbook as well as the RPC Wiki. I hope you enjoy yourself with this wonderful community!

Hello and welcome! Glad you rolled on Gilgamesh! I know a few scholarly types that would probably love to chat with your character about all manner of whatever it is you bookworms tend to chat about. S'anhu's not the reading type, but he's part of a crew under someone who calls himself the Scholar Captain, so he gets along well enough with those who are. Feel free to add me in-game! I'm almost always up for some random RP!

My FC (Pirates of a Wayward Star) are certainly on the criminal side of things. We may not be able to join up, but I can definitely see potential in being business partners. We need more friends. And also we need to do more pirate-y activities. We've been lacking lately. You can check out our thread here and our site here. Feel free to hit us up!

That's actually a smart idea. It can definitely get hectic in an area where there are lots of separate conversations and I often find myself looking out for a familiar name to make sure I don't miss anything. I can't always read the conversations of others, as much as I try. A good thing to help with this (and avoid spelling errors/mistakes) are some of the macro placeholders. You can use and and all those in Say and they'll show up with the proper names. It can make some of the longer/more difficult names to type stand out since it'll be their full character name, as well.

Hello and welcome! Olofantur has provided all the excellent resources you need to find any other RP out in the wild, as per usual. So I'll just say we're glad to have you on Gilgamesh! And I'm glad you found a good group like Driftwood!

Ick. Queue times are a little harder in the low-level dungeons especially as a DD class. Even with parties with a tank it can take a little longer than usual to find that last healer. However, if we're on at the same time just hit me up and I'll be happy to run dungeons with you! (Assuming RP isn't going on which lately has taken up a lot of my time.) I'm S'anhu Tia on Gilgamesh. I have some of each class near that level so I can fill whatever role you'd need. I can also hopefully help you get into one of the OOC LSes. I think the first one is full right now, so maybe someone can sneak you in on the second or third. Amaare Margolis (Rock Sandbourne here on the site) is the character who runs the gig so you can send him a tell if he's online and he can likely set you up, as well.

Welcome! We're always glad to see new faces around here! And don't worry, Google was the way I found my way here, as well. In regards to Linkshells the best place to find one is the Linkshell Hall. You can sort by server, as well. Look through them and see what tickles your fancy. We are going through a bit of a clean-up period, though, so not all of them may be active. The RPC Wiki is a great place to start to learn about lore, as well as a few threads in the RP Discussion section. The Role-Play Handbook also has a section on lore with a bunch of helpful links. Once again, happy to have you here!

I've also heard (haven't been in-game today) that this FATE here will also award parcels. It's the one where you fight a big Dodo. EDIT: The name's Tender Buttons.

The problem with this is, such a passive emote doesn't give the characters anything to RP off of. They may not react to your character's idle arching of brow and vague look, but that doesn't mean they aren't open to interacting with your character. If you wanna get involved with a scene you see, you've gotta be proactive - especially ICly, but OOCly can help as well. This exactly. S'anhu's hardly ever a very observant guy. When I do see some with this kind of passing interest I'll try to stretch out a bit and make him glance around and notice or something, but I'm also very bad at knowing how to draw people in. I'm always totally open to anyone waltzing up and joining in or interrupting or any of that, but maybe I'm just horrid at leaving openings.

A member of Pirates of a Wayward Star from Gilgamesh here, checking in! We're very active and currently embroiled in some major plot progression.

How does the community treat the day/night cycles?
S'anhu replied to Flickering Ember's topic in RP Discussion
Haha, I understand this so much. Sometimes we acknowledge the rain while we RP, but if we do it every single time then our characters spend an absurd amount of time chatting in the rain. On topic: I tend to think of it as the time of day when the RP starts, as well. Sometimes things will have to happen at a particular time of day, so I like to stay flexible. As a general fallback, evening is often what I'll go with if I ever sit around at a tavern or the like, since that's usually what kind of time you'd see my character in a place like that. -
This Model Viewer may provide some help. Just click on the crossed Axes to see the player characters. They have every item (as far as I've looked) and they even allow you to change the race/gender of the model. Though they don't put in the actual model, this can sometimes affect dimensions of the outfit. It's far from perfect and it doesn't allow color options, but you can get a peek at what some things will look like. EDIT: Haha, great minds think alike! Olofantur has some good talk about some of its downsides that I'm simply unfamiliar with, as I don't use it too often.

Hello! We're glad to have you here! The linkshells are an excellent place to start. You can ask around in the OOC channels for RP and get connected with people. If you find one you like you can ask or apply to join and you'll likely be welcomed with open arms! And of course if you need any help with backstory many here would be happy to offer help or suggestions or even act as a sounding board for ideas. Myself included. This may not apply to you since you seem to want something more organized, but an alternative is to try some random RP in some of the cities. I know for a fact Limsa is usually bustling around peak hours. Check out The Bismarck or the Drowning Wench and you can usually find some people sitting about RP-ing.
