  1. Sent you a PM Gospel. Thank you for stepping up and trying to keep the OOC shell a friendly and comfortable environment for everyone. These matters are never easy.
  2. I'm not sure if this is the behavior you're talking about Aysun, but... I was a bit shocked to log in today and the first thing I'm met with is lines of green chat from Intermission repeatedly screaming obscenities and f-bombs. I realize I'm new to the LS and am doing little more than lurking (so I apologize if I'm coming off the wrong way by speaking up), but is this kind of chat normal? I know that can be off-putting to some people. It's definitely not what I was expecting.
  3. Oskar: While I have a RP background in other games, my experience in FFXIV has been limited. I attended TALE's first Masquerade Ball in Limsa Lominsa (back in Nov 2010) with a few of my LS mates. That was tons of fun! I was /facepalming at my husband, whose character had a bit too much to drink and was wandering around the ship in basically a subligar and his mask. But it turned out he made an amusing impression on several people and they didn't mind his antics (there was later talk of 'the drunken Elezen'). Julianne Regina (who is quite the extrovert) was doing her best to get us all to socialize, and was chatting up some new LS members. We made some new friends that night and a great time was had by all! It is still one of my most memorable experiences I've had in this game. I also was recruited into a story that had some great potential. We had an awesome opening session, which left me really excited about it, and was given a pearl to keep in touch with the rest of the group. However, most all of them ended up quitting the game shortly after the mass exodus and the LS eventually went silent. My other experiences have been too few and far between to mention. To be honest, I had believed a great deal of the RP community had dwindled along with the rest of the population and didn't make much of an attempt to build up my character history or reconnect with other RPers. I just played casually, crafted, and tried to keep my non-RP linkshell together. I became frustrated with the state of the game, myself, and took a break. Okay, a few breaks. And I didn't sub in January. However, the server merge fiasco and talk of finally pushing for a designated RP server was something that was important enough to get me to subscribe and make my opinion heard. Officially putting a RP server tag on Besaid could really help breathe life back into the RP community by finally getting us all in one place. But that groundwork needs to be done before 2.0 when the game gets its second wave of new subscribers. In fact, now is the perfect time. With Yoshi-P going with server merge option 2, we would not only be able to direct new RPers to Besaid, but give RPers that got scattered to other servers the chance to move and join the hub. Anyway, to answer your question? I'm yet another casual RPer, but I care deeply about the RP community's ability to thrive in this game. One day, I may even find myself coming back to the fold.
  4. I agree, Oskar! It should be Besaid + other server = RP server That way, we get to keep our Besaid friends. Plus, the fact they're allowing server transfers will let those who are really just opposed to being on the RP server the opportunity to leave (and I'm not just necessarily talking about the people who will be merging with us, there are current Besaid residents who just don't like being on our server). Other RPers who got scattered to other servers will also now have the opportunity to come join us. SE just needs to put a tag on our server to officially designate it so people know where to find us, and we're golden.
  5. As I've stated in the official forums, I'm hoping Yoshi-P goes with server merge option â¡, and Besaid is pronounced the official RP server ahead of time. This will give current Besaid residents (and those who will be merged into the server) an informed decision of whether or not they wish to stay, plus give RPers on other servers a chance to come join us! It would be a win-win for everyone.
  6. I couldn't agree more, Oskar (below is the quote I believe you were looking for). Since SE has decided to force everyone to choose a new server, this is the perfect time for Yoshi-P to finally make good on those plans to designate a RP server: I think we really need to push to get one named now, rather than later. SE has named server #10 recommended for French/German speaking players. Why not name one recommended for RPers? If we can get a dev response about this, I think it would make the decision easier on the RP community. Also, I greatly appreciate TheVedis posting to keep the Besaid community together, RPers and all. I've really grown to like Besaid. I hope we can all keep our community together. But, again, I also agree with Oskar's suggestion: 1. Petition for a RP server. If they announce a RP server select it. 2. If there is no RP server, and they announce server names, choose Besaid. 3. If they do not show names, pick server #9.
  7. I would love a designated RP server! It would be beneficial both to those looking for a more immersive experience, and to those who prefer not to be on a RP server. There are people who feel strongly about it both ways, and this would help new players make a more informed decision when choosing a server.
  8. Thanks, Castiel, that's what I wanted to know!
  9. Is the FFXIV RPC committed to remaining on Besaid? My LS is voting on our server home this week, and some are concerned that if we vote for Besaid merely based on it being the unofficial RP server, it could still change closer to launch.
  10. Agreed! This thread, along with the voting thread, became my go-to source of information on what the rest of the community is doing. Great job!
  11. I don't believe there was any concrete evidence of that, outside of some random "Where are you rolling?" polls. I tried to find more info, but there really wasn't much. I believe Besaid remains, for the most part, unclaimed by any major groups. Lindblum, meanwhile, definitely has a presence from Core. Should FFXIV Core still be listed as choosing Besaid (as reported in the OP)?
