  1. The sheer amount of "hurr hurr we're so much better than those overly sensitive tumblrinas" going on in this thread is giving me a headache.
  2. Yes, this is still active as a Free Company and as an IC/OOC set of linkshells. Nobody in Lansquenet uses this site much, so we haven't been keeping this page as up-to-date as would be most appropriate, I fear.
  3. We are still active, though we've been getting through new applicants a bit slowly. My apologies! The applications have been received and they will be seen to soon. Thank you for your patience.
  4. I might have something that's of use for this. Or, rather, several somethings. Over the past month, I've undertaken an effort to compile all lore-related text from disparate sources in the game- various logs (minion, mount, sightseeing), leves, fates, item descriptions, npc dialogue, etc.- and distill it into a resource organized around lore information rather than un-networked gameplay description such as in the cases of the Gamerescape wiki and xivdb. It's incomplete as of now and done wholly independently of actual wiki projects, but I can lend you the efforts I've made to compile, double-check, and cite these texts under the umbrella of Operation Raimdelle.
  5. Just a reminder that this once-in-an-afterlife event is taking place this Saturday, the first of November!
  6. Sharp-eyed forumites might recall this as the same play Lansquenet performed for Halloween a year ago, back when we were on Gilgamesh. Now that we're on Balmung, it will return, bigger, better, and scarier than ever before. Look forward to... Professor Joho, the Mad Alchemist! As performed by the inimitable Cendrillon Braids! The Lovely Doctor Lucrece! Portrayed by none other than yours truly, Aumeric Chassebel. The Lovelorn Bodyguard, Valentine! Fresh-faced newcomer Ayin'a Quist will be playing the part. The Indefatigable Narrator, Skoena Fraewyn! And of course, a whole host of gracious staff, who are in no way eyeing your purses or jewels, and the many, many special guests we expect to see. We hope to see you there.
  7. Couples, you say? Couples, I can provide! And by couples, I mean couple. Anyway, here's Aumeric and Thaarus.
  8. Aumeric casually throws out "gods" and "by the twelve" in conversation, but he is not one of true faith. Not by a long shot. Though he was born under the signs of Oschon and has such documented on the records of his birth, he honors the god no more than any of the others. His parents are far from devout, and his only real exposure to religious matters was through text. The first deity who had any bearing on his life was a far more tangible one, with a far more tangible role in the world around him- Garuda. While he doesn't precisely worship her, he has a real appreciation for how terrible and powerful the primal goddess is, as a ward of the Ixal and as a summoner who wields the power of her egi. And that has colored how he sees the hierarchy of gods in Hydaelyn- primals are real, and powerful, to be feared or honored or fought or worshipped, and in some ways are more valid gods than the absent Twelve.
  9. You're gonna get us kicked out by Rowena, Cris. D'you think she wants us making out on her doorstep? That's gonna cost 500 tomestones of mythology. Each.
  10. What in the world is that accent even supposed to be? Forgive me for asking, but even trying to read it out loud, I haven't got the faintest clue.
  11. Summoners weren't just the Allagan military might- they were specifically developed as a counter to the primals summoned by the people of Meracydia, which Allag was attempting to invade at the time. Content in the Binding Coil of Bahamut, however, implies that the summoners weren't the only weapon the Allagan Empire turned against the Meracydians, however.
  12. Practical and impractical together could perhaps work... perhaps. What Aumeric is trying to find is some kind of method to block or remove aetheric attunement in another person, so I'm not entirely sure if a standard or nonstandard approach is more helpful in this case.
  13. So, not to go into much detail, my character is on the lookout for those knowledgeable and gifted in magic, and specifically, the thaumaturgic sort. As a pseudo-summoner with a very piecemeal and non-standard education in magic, there's a lot of stuff he just does not know about and does not fully understand, and at the moment in his storyline, he's trying to ferret out help with a magical problem beyond his personal level of understanding. Granted, in this case, he's mostly jumped to the conclusion that a thaumaturge can help. Out of character, I'm not 100% sure who can and cannot deal with the problem at hand, but IC, I'm more or less dedicated to at least trying to find out. If you're at all interested, I'd love to get a response. I'll be able to go into more detail then, but I don't want to beat around the bush and bore people right now- just want to test the waters.
  14. It depends on the definition you want to use for "tempering", but at the very least I would say that the Echo qualifies as being tempered by Hydaelyn. I imagine that if the Twelve are what they are believed to be, they would also be capable of it. Elder primals, for that matter, are likely capable but in far less need of doing so, since their shared commonality appears to be "is already summoned and cannot be permanently removed from the world", and they would therefore have far less use for faithful servants to summon them.
  15. I will be in attendance- though with Ahlek'zi, not Aumeric. Obviously, I can't have both there, as much as I wish I could. The matter of a date, of course, is still very much up in the air...
