Nope, but it's enough to talk about. Ranting is my way of keeping light. Ranting feels good. Self expression feels good. And just because I hate Besaid does not mean I am not light hearted in any way.

Nothing wrong with foreboding and evil. I swear Twilight hatedumb is ruining people's minds. We can't have good old mythology or anything like that in favor of something crass just because someone out there has bad memories of a modern Vampire novel. I guess because some people hate Twilight the world can't have good things anymore. The logic is going to eventually turn into "well Twilight has vampires, therefor Vampires are horrible. And Gothic fiction has Vampires, therefor Gothic fiction is horrible. And Gothic fiction is Victorian, therefor Victorianism is horrible. And Victorianism is European heritage, therefor European heritage is horrible. Destroy the West! Destroy Twilight!". Tropics are fine to me for only two things, swimming and boardsports. They work horribly for a more Traditional Fantasy setting. You don't hear about cult Black Metal from the grim, crusty oil soaked beaches of the Florida coast, now do you?

Indeed, but that's what this topic is about. Every little bit and aspect of fun counts, and I'm talking to the one relevant to this thread. A complaint is a complaint, I don't like representing a town from another Final Fantasy I hate. And obviously I care about more than just the typical "gameplay" aspects the game has to offer, like grinding, or I wouldn't be a roleplayer. I really get into lots of little things like character names and server names and the like. Am I not even allowed to have sever names I like and don't like? I thought that was the point of the poll I completely missed.

I keep telling myself that. But the effect is a lot less than I would like it. Indeed we can't all be happy/be made happy with something. And I am taking just this opportunity to show that, in a thread about the very subject of my displeasure. It's what the topic is about, if someone is disappointed, it's certainly not odd to share that in a topic focused to the subject.

I'm surprised nobody has tried such a thing, really. It would be a really popular Life Simulator type, I'm sure. Actually, if I'm not mistaken, something similar happened with the Sims. I can see how this was the most logical choice, anyway. As awful as the name is, Besaid will be the most populated server. Looking at it that way, it's not so bad. In which case I really just have to blame the case that most people sadly don't share my taste in naming. I really don't see what people see in a location that so strongly clashes with the theme and feel of Final Fantasy XIV.

Words are a plenty big deal. There are some things you can't say in public, right? Words create the landscape in your mind when you read a book. And the word "Besaid" doesn't send good images to my mind when I hear of it in relation to roleplaying or fantasy. Maybe if this was a massively multiplayer online bikini beach party playing game. But it's not.

But I love roleplaying as much as I loathe Besaid. So I will simply have to grit my teeth and bear it. I will never be pleased with the fact we're going to be on Besaid, though.

More like I didn't even know about the vote. I'm cringing over Besaid because I hate Besaid. Worst case scenario came true.

Please, oh please, let there be a miracle that gets us on Mysidia. I love Mysidia and it's my second favorite next to Lindblum. Anything but Besaid, the thought of playing there makes me cringe the more I think about it.

Nothing, just as there's nothing wrong with flat, either. Large, small, male, female; they're all just fat content, in the end. Just personal taste/variety. My post said it liked variety, it wasn't negative toward anything.

Oh no, this is terrible. I wish I was a part of the vote! Besaid is my least favorite name of all the servers, I hate it! Oh... that is such a disappointment. I really wanted to have my cake and eat it too. :cry:
