1. I paid dearly for my failure to phrase this topic correctly and convey my point better.
2. Like 85% really. My character is basically me if I looked like that in that world with the general rules and customs of the game.
3. It could be argued that Gridania is a very big exception to that. I mean us as humans.
4. Other than their desire to have all other Sylphs tempered and their aggressiveness to any Walking Ones who step into their territory, they seem to keep to themselves. The quest lines don't indicate that they're particularly malicious or immoral outside of that. The dispute between the Sylphs is purely that the Tempered Ones want to show their untempered cousins the "light," so to speak, of Ramuh; for their part, the untempered Sylphs fear the Tempered Ones, as they view tempering as being brainwashed. That said, all Primals are inherently destructive to Eorzea, at least if the Scions and Garleans are correct regarding their effect on Aether. While some are more overtly destructive and grasping (Ifrit, Garuda), all of them are destructive by their very nature -- and Tempering is a moral problem, as it does warp the mind of someone for the sole purpose of making them a permanent follower of that "god." As a complete aside, the Sylph plotline is one I find particularly interesting, because it brings up a fair number of moral quandaries. But humans' current way of life are also inherently destructive to the planet. In comparsion, each faction is more like separate countries disputing, nationalism deciding who is morally right.
5. This topic wasn't a criticism so much as a challenge to think about your character. Depth is hard to add, and legitimate struggles re hard to correctly dramaticize.
6. It's easy to fall into the trap of wanting your character to be the most attractive or loudest most/popular. Brooding characters are becoming rarer (however, rude/outspoken characters are fairly common) likely due to a lack of a sympathetic response to these tendencies. Weaknesses often are rare in a character that is meant to be your protagonist in a world of competing personalities, understandably so. To attract RP, you need to be easier to understand and agree with presumably. So is your character unique, and how? Do you have flaws or motivations that are very human and interesting, that evoke some theme or profound concept? How do you justify your character's raison d'etre and desires?
7. According to the Sylphs you talk to, Ramuh is a purely defensive primal. He seeks only to defend his territory and his people, and this is in part why the Tempered Sylphs aren't actually a threat to Gridania (insofar as they will only react with hostility if you directly provoke them by invading their territory). The only reason they're kidnapping the untempered Sylphs is that the Tempered Ones are trying to "reunite" their people in a misguided fashion. As far as Titan goes, he's definitely "defensive," but perhaps this was just an excuse for him to stomp around. Have the Tempered Ones shown any malice or obviously immoral views, or has the Sylph dispute been an us vs them?
8. Revisiting. What do the Kobolds/Titan and Slyphs/Ramuh plan to do? Doesn't each side have its reason for pushing territory, but some flaw to their purpose? Kobolds were defending, but for some reason, I feel like Titan wanted something else specific. I'm not familiar with Ramuh's motives though.
9. I can't really say what would be notable about me yet. But I'd like to say I like the idea. My character's favorite thing to do when not researching is eavesdrop on people. So I like seeing another character whose interest and occupation lies in other people.
10. I personally like the concept of a cadet-like GLA, especially one with glasses. It implies and evokes something different than your typical paladin. So here's Aegis.
11. Glad to have someone new aboard! We'll be happy to add you to our union I'd like added. I'll talk to my small RP FC about adding to the list too.
12. Feel free to add me at any time then. I am eager to RP out this kind of research.
13. I am not sure what R&D is, but yes, most of my character relates to researching beast tribes and primals. Do I have a colleague now? Indeed! I have made understanding the nature of the beastmen and their craven gods my purpose! Sometimes to... less than ethical ends. But all in the name of research and understanding! And that's gotta count for something. Have you been sacrificing humans? -__-
14. I found a cool character that seemed like it could have been Garuda themed. Anyways, I meant Amool Ja.
