  1. I preordered my Collectors edition, picked it up this morning. All of a sudden it occurs to me, that I dont know if I needed some kind of preorder code to gain my early access. Is everything I need to gain access tonight when I get home in the box, or did I need a promo code at my time of purchase or preorder?
  2. gamespot pre-order is available.....tommorrow at 10am. I'm still questioning whether to use a sick day or not (considering I took off the entirety of next week, not likely) :moogle:
  3. I likely need to run an upgrade but I'm holding off until I can see how it performs. I'm not too keen on replacing motherboard and an AMD 2 core 3.0Ghz if I dont have to, since most games seem reluctant to take on the 3rd and fourth cores anyways. Of course if I really have to.....that i7 930 is looking pretty darn sweet. I did get the benchmark to 2300 with an old dual core 3.0 and a new nvidia 460, which hopefully will be playable and allow me to see if further investments are warrented.
  4. Was reading through the list and something jumped out at me. "Plainsfolk Lalafell- Fewon Bulion, Alza Gamilza, Mozon Dalazon, Kazai Buoyzai, Telbi Kesulbi" So the first and last names need should share a rhyme in the last syllable?
  5. Nice, I think I could work with the merchant thing instead if need be. And I'm even making it worse for the poor guy cause the youngest son would be considered the "precious baby", but alas he is number 3 of 4 which means he doesnt even get that distinction. thanks for the feedback.
  6. I had a thought for my character, and having no clue about the culture of FF14 I thought I'd ask if this is out of bounds lore wise. Is there a nobility to the Hyur people? I was thinking of RPing my character as the third of four sons to a minor noble.....which makes him about as useful as a spoiler on a golf cart. It does however give him a decent reason for becoming an adventurer, to prove his worth. Did I set off any red flags there? Thank ya kindly.
  7. Look in your Config (the out-of-game Config, not the in-game menu). There's a whole Gamepad section where you can assign functions to the individual buttons. ok, thanks, I'm not going to get to log in until (hopefully) the 22nd
  8. In regards to jumping, you're all right. There is real jumping and then there is the Video game jumping. Yes a person could do a standing jump with 45 lbs of armor on, but being able to jump 1/3rd of your height is not what videogames do, they grant you the ability to jump 5-6ft. The problem then becomes race proportions and unintended access. a 3ft character would not likely jump the same height as a 7ft character. Imagine a group of designers agonizing over the exact height of what a jump should be, then trying to think of how they could make sure that this jump is not exploited to gain access to unintended places or to fall through the world. At some point one person says, "Is there any place in the game people have to jump to get to?" After a few moments the general consensus is "no". Thus jumping gets cut for the sake of the greater good. Invisible walls though.....those I could live without, if you wanna do something dumb like run off a cliff. Well, you have fun doing that, however the same rules of unintended accesss or falling through the world still apply. my 2 cents.
  9. Is there a location that one could see the button layouts for gamepads? I'm currently using a Xbox 360, its a bit old and I think I might replace it, should I get one of the same or would anyone suggest a different one? Thank ya kindly.
