Entry Four I have spent all day and night working primarily on a prototype for the beginning of my project. I was able to steal a few local goods and turn them into material I can use. I am sure no one will mind. I have a rough design made. Tested two times and tweeked to make better. But the prototype I have made still does not work very efficiently at all. It is a pair of boots used to allow more difficult falls to pass with ease and to propel oneself to high places much like the revered Dragoons of Eorzea. I still question how they are able to jump to such heights without technological aid. Maybe it is their naturally higher Aether levels that contribute. So far I have a rough design using springs, compression, and Aether batteries. Each boot takes three batteries and they will last long enough to jump and land. Upon landing they will shoot out the batteries as the boots relieve pressure. The Aetheric batteries provide the strength to propel the boots through its magically enhanced springs and to help lessen the force of the fall. During experiment one upon landing the fall was very rough and I ended up bruising my ankles. A undesirable experience. Definitely not something I need during battle. I tweaked the springs a bit and tried again later that day. Using a order of spring placement it lessened the fall for experiment #2 but I still had the initial inertia from falling and was forced to roll backwards to dispel it. Not good if I am landing against a wall or on a tight space. It still needs more work but it is making progress. I am heading to Ul'dah to gather more supplies to modify my boots. End of Entry Four

Entry Three To waste time stressing only sets my opponent ahead. I have to work to attain victory and the work will not be easy. Right now my primary focus is survival. I am formulating ideas for gadgets and Tek to help me protect myself and get my jobs done. I will have to progress, adapt, and grow stronger if I ever wish to overcome my problems. That is how everyone gets through life. I am still young and I will have many more trials and hardships ahead. Thrilling... On to the business end. Some of the Tek I have had in mind has been big. And some small. Number one priority remains getting my Nanotek back working but I also have to factor the possibility of it never working again. In that case I will begin working on a long term goal to develop a suit of armor using magitek to replace what my Nanotek once was. I also need to improve my magical abilities and my Tek that allows me to cast magic in the first place. At the moment I use a metal wristband which injects me with raw Aether to cast small time magic. It is powered by batteries of raw Aether but it eats then away quickly. I will need to develop a more sustainable source. I could also work on improving my already existing retractable sword and spear. Although if I equip them with too much their energy will deplete faster than I desire. Lots of problems and lots of unclear solutions... On other news I have been offered protection from the same void consumed girl who tried to kill me before and got me into void research in the first place. I suppose I can accept her offer of helping her train one of her students. Much less for the protection but more for the possible experiments I can conduct. I will take her offer into consideration though. With the way things are right now I can use all the friends I can get. I will update upon the happenings of future events. For now I must get to work. I remember in World of Warcraft the many guilds that role played the Stormwind guards. Not many people acknowledged them but they were there for anyone who needed them and could be used in role play for various situations. I loved some of the missions I got sent on as a gnome engineer working for the stormwind guard. Well recently someone made a comment about the lack of organized groups. Static organizations like player made Taverns or Bars. Also big player made organizations such as a Guard for one of the three major cities. With their existence it would better benefit our role play community in allowing a whole new number of role play opportunities to unfold. With guards we could better acknowledge their existence and use them to ask of aid, or criminal groups could work against the guards and allow them actual missions to do against them. Missions could involve citizens which would involve guard which would keep everyone connected in a happy cycle. It allows people to get better connected and helps everyone reach a more satisfying and realistic role playing experience. I have decided that sense Limsa Lominsa is the biggest Role playing hub we can create a guard group for the city. People could join the guards ranks and patrol the city and keep the peace. Work against criminal groups and help people in need. Have a character who you want to get work with but can't find anything? Join the guard! (Que cheesy poster propoganda) If being a guard is simply not your thing. Well now your shady organization will have a group to go against. Or if you are just a ordinary person (Pshh... who is ordinary?) then you can ask of help from the guards when that creepy old guy stole your miqo'te girlfriend's purse. Yellow Jackets guard. I would make a whole new character and participate in it if it were to exist. I do not feel I could devote all my time to it sense I play 2 other characters as well. But I am perfectly willing to getting involved in starting one and maintaining one long enough for someone more capable to take the Reins. Just give me the specifics of what I need to do and I will do it.

My Character Miyako grew up in the backstreets of Ul'dah. She is still only 14 but if you ever did work in Ul'dah gossip gets around and I am sure she might have heard of you. Entry Two I find myself in a tough situation... I was not able to find much information in Ul'dah on the void and it was not long before I felt the need to move on to shroud my position. I realized that the only place I had left was to go back to Limsa. Upon further analysis I came to the conclusion that to keep running and hiding will amount to nothing. I am only giving the Empire more time to take care of me. Upon my return to Limsa it was as if I had never gone. There was a few slightly shocked reactions but overall no one seemed to care. I had no friends or anyone I was close to anyway. I suppose I prefer the less dramatic entrance. I would not want to be questioned. I developed a a wristband I can wear to increase my aether flow just a little. Upon losing my Tek I realized I cannot use magic anymore because of my kinds lack of magical ability. This wristband is a temporary fix and is no where near efficient but will have to do. I can make batteries and harness raw aether in them to cast some small time magic. But it will eat away the batteries extremely fast. I also lost my body support systems. If I receive a injury of any sort I will have to seek out a white mage otherwise I will have to take the long road to healing with medicine. This feeling of weakness... is very... discomforting... Before I could survive long enough to adapt to the situation but now I have to strain to adapt even faster. I am not sure if I will be able to adapt fast enough next time I find myself in danger before it is to late. I have faith in my engineering abilities and I am better than the average Eorzean. It is simply how I was raised. But I am not invincible. Even before with my Tek I found myself in multiple situations I was only barely able to claw through. I have no one I can go to... Everyone I knew in the Garlean empire would have been killed by now. And people here are very unfriendly to strangers. I am completely on my own. I am not one who prefers to handle everything himself. Even if I know I can do it better, a helping hand never hurts. But there will be no helping hand. Not this time. I do not plan on ending my research after only just arriving in Eorzea. But the future does not look bright. It is becoming more and more crucial that I find how to get my Tek back working. For now I will have to rely on my wits and intelligence to survive. I will find the answer to this problem. I have to. Then I can work on losing my pursuers. If I survive that long that is. Entry One I find every day I am here in Eorzea more dangerous than the last. I realized after my incident that I may not survive long here so in an attempt to pass on my research should I die I have decided to begin recording it in my Tekbook. Not long ago I moved to Eorzea from the Garlean Empire in search of knowledge and to get away from my pursuers. After making my break through and collecting lots of information on the Garlean Empire and many other top secret companies I have realized just how corrupt the Garlean Empire has truly become. I find myself trying to survive everyday because of the information I hold. I seem to have been relaxing too much sense I arrived in Eorzea while the Empire has slowly been improving their means of killing me. I fear I may be getting lazy because the Eorzeans. Not much I can do. Simply distance myself more from these foolish and primitive Eorzeans. There are kind people here but I can't let them slow or allow me to forget things I already know or am learning. Recently my Nanotek has stopped functioning. It has allowed me a strength above average and has assisted me in surviving the countless attacks I have been receiving from those who want me dead. But with it in a useless state I have had to take drastic measures. I faked my own death to stall my pursuers while I take time to get my Tek back working. I have tested Aether overloading and electric shocks but I can't jump start my Tek. I do not really know what the Wytchwood organization did to me when they enhanced me but I am guessing I need something of their make to jump start my Tek. I have some information from them I have stolen but nothing on how their Tek works specifically. I think the only thing I can do is try to find their experiments which have supposedly escaped then see if I can get information from them. Or experiment with them to get the information myself. I borrowed a friends airship pass and fled to Gridania where I stayed in hiding for a bit. I am not staying in one place for too long so I currently reside in Ul'dah. I need to find where those experiments might be. Hopefully I can find some trace here. Meanwhile sense this is where the Thaumaturges guild is I will attempt to get some information for my void research as well. Find out how to hurt the girl who seemed so delighted to hurt me. It is my dream to one day host fancy parties to all the ladies and gents of Eorzea. In my present state I cannot do so now. But one day I will! And I will host a party every week! Fun! If someone were to make an IC tavern/bar of their own I would definitely use it. Maybe even make it my favorite spot for drinks. I almost want to start one but I feel things will need to settle down for my character if I ever do. I agree that we need more events even if its just a random post saying "Drinks at Costa Del Sol will be a quarter off this day! Everyone should go!" Maybe come up with discounts for different areas each day for more RPers to be spending time at. Just an idea.

My character is one who is new to Eorzea and I do not feel like I know all of the interesting people on my server who I could meet. My character is very open about meeting new people because he loves to learn and everyone has something to teach him that he does not know, even if it is just their opinions and history. My character does not have anyone he is close to and people always seem immersed in their own RP that I do not know how to get involved in them or get them involved in mine. I seem to have many acquaintances and no real "Friends". So I thought I would ask around on the forums if there is anyone looking for a friend who they can get involved with for whatever and RP with. If so I am perfectly available! I tend to be a bit dramatic but that's simply because I have nothing to do so I try to get attention and induce more RP. So consider me a friend for hire! I have read both RP guides and they are both extremely useful in their own way. Just because one exists does not mean there is no need for another with even more interesting views and suggestions! The Wytchwood is similar to a super soldier organization like Shinra. So I have that in mind. While the garlean empire may bot have nanotek. Wytchwood which is a private organazation that does heavy research and stuff (Really shady.) Could. I imagine anyway. The nanotek allows me to channel aether as well so thats how I can use some small time magic. Just not that much. I agree that I do not really have to hack their systems. Just get the information in some way.

I. Basic Info Characters:Xefjord Kiromeda/Miyako Kohaku Primary character:Xefjord Kiromeda Linkshells:Driftwood Coast/Han'ei no Kishi Primary RP linkshell:Driftwood Coast II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): I enjoy Roleplaying a lot having RPed on World of Warcraft in the past. Just I could never roleplay that much because it was not my main character. My main character is now on on a RP server for this game so I roleplay as much as possible. Sometimes forgetting there are other aspects of the game. I think I would be considered a medium to heavy RPer. Leaning more towards heavy. Views on RP combat and injuries: Fighting and injury are bound to happen so I embrace them. When it comes to fighting I believe a characters level does not matter that much. IF a player can outwit a much higher level character then he should be rewarded for doing so. I am not one for throwing punches and rolling dice to see if I hit. I more rather use my brain and get detailed with my attacks trying to outwit my enemy but leave how they react to the attack to the other player. (I throw a punch towards their diaphram in an attempt to knock their breath away. Then they can dodge or get hit however they like.) When it comes to getting hit myself I use my wits but roll dice to see if it is possible for me to trip up. while I may try to dodge I could get a bad roll and get slammed in the face. It leaves more chance to make things interesting. In a world where Magic can easily heal injury I do not worry about getting injured to much and will accept injury normally. If I am in a situation where I believe I could suffer a grave injury or a player PMs me telling me his/her intent I will accept it if I can t find a way out of it. Besides, With my characters technological ability or another characters ability I might be able to heal myself later. The very first character I played though was eventually killed by injury so I accept death as well as a possible outcome. Although I will do everything I can to avoid it. If I am fighting another character I will only seek to disable them so the fight ends instead of killing them (Unless they specifically ask me to) I am also prone to running away from fights if I feel they could have a bad outcome for either character. Views on IC romance: Along with death injury and fighting, love and relationship and living is another aspect of my characters life. I will roleplay Romance as realistically as I can, wither it lead to dating or marriage. I do not factor anything OOC. We are playing a different life in character and I will play as if I were the character. So should a relationship form I will embrace it. Everything is strictly in character though. At the moment both my characters are single so feel free to flirt with them . Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Both of my characters do not have any real family. One grew up on the streets and the other had his family killed after he fled the Garlean empire. When it comes to family ties at this point the only real "Ties" I might have is if I get married and have kids or something. I realize there is family RPs out there and treat the related characters how they would be treated in the real life situation. Views on lore: I believe lore should be followed whenever possible. There can be leg room in some hazy areas but if a character is doing something strictly against lore I find it a bit agitating. From what I know people generally follow the basic lore and do not go too in detail and thats fine with me. And I feel some lore can be made up in places where there is none. But the laws of the world should be followed. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): I mostly use say chat for conversing in character. Depending on the FC or Linkshell I will treat it as IC or OOC depending on what the general populous uses it for. If I whisper someone I will normally add the (( )) to signify it is OOC. And I sometimes use whisper for literal whispering and in rare occasions Telepathy. Where I will put [Whisper] or [Telepathy] At the beginning of the message. III. My character keeps a Lightbook which he records all research on Eorzea sense he arrived from running away from the Garlean Empire. I was thinking about posting entrys from my lightbook in the form of a sort of journal. So thats why I asked. Would that be alright to do?

My first character I made for this game and for RP was very rough. I tried to develop him as things went and he turned out OK it seemed but overall he was just not a very good character. And I remember my friend complaining about how agitating Roleplaying with him was. That character came and died a short life and now I have a new one and I want to work with the community to see if I can make some sense of him and make him a good character. I do not know much about the lore so forgive me if anything I come up with seems weird. And here is my story My Character is Xefjord Kiromeda. I used a transista potion on my old character to make this one and say the name is merely a coincidence. But I have everyone call my Character Sparks. It was a spur of the moment name and I kind of like it. :3 He is a grew up in a noble Garlean family and had plenty of wealth to spend on his passion. Learning. I like to consider my character a detective of knowledge who wants to learn everything there is to know about everything. He is about 24 years old right now and he has spent every possible minute of his life researching something new or learning more about what he already knew. He trained in the ways of the Spear and Sword and has a fair knowledge on hand to hand combat. For a long time he lived peacefully and studied his heart out but soon subjects to study became a bit harder to find. At one point in time he wanted to enhance himself to better allow his ability to study and improve his physical ability so he went to a group called Wytchwood and got bio-technologically enhanced. Getting a mix of nanotek in his blood to help his endurance and strength and more importantly his perception and reaction. On its own it does not do much but he can take pills to enhance the effects. Although sense it relys on power from aether if he enhances it and overloads with aether he could crash and become extremely weak. Sparks started working with some sketchy groups on the backstreets to learn more about areas outside of the Garlean empire because his curiosity and thirst for knowledge controlled him. Upon learning more of a continent called Eorzea and of Aethers manipulation into magic Sparks wanted to know EVERYTHING about it. So Sparks underwent heavy research into hacking. He already had quite a bit of knowledge on Magitek engineering and alchemy from his previous schooling. Eventually Sparks hacked into Garlean systems and stole as much information as he could simply because he wanted to learn more. He learned of how corrupt the Garlean Empire was and began to despise it. The Garlean Empire was not too happy with him either. So he made his escape to Eorzea with the Garlean Empire after him and the information he stole. A few other company's in the Garlean empire are after him for information he stole as well. Some information including Wytchwood, ect. My character finds himself on Eorzea totally amazed. They seem very primitive to him and he has a secret superiority complex but he is constantly trying to learn new things about the place and about magic. He is already attempting to integrate magic into his technology and experiments. He is overall a pretty friendly character but gets annoyed easily. Occasionally assassins try to get him but he keeps his identity secret just in case. Hence his nickname Sparks. So people do not know his real name. How does my character sound to you guys and what are your guys suggestions/opinions for him?

I noticed a lot of people have Journals on these forums and I think that is really awesome. I myself would love to brag about my interesting IC life lol but I do not know how these Journals work and am a little intimidated by how well developed some are. Makes me feel that any journal I make will be pretty bad compared to theirs. Heh. So does anyone mind explaining how Journals work and how I can get started making one for my own character on here?

Well about the affliction. It is not really something i had right as I was born. I just meant in infancy I acquired the affliction. It is a sickness, a disease. There is not really a way I can get it too easily. It just happens. Anyway I was not really requesting that I get someone to take up a role right away I was just thinking there would be more talk. This forum is smaller than I thought it was or people just get on at a very different time then when I am on. I wonder what you mean by more leg room. I thought I was pretty lax. Just needs to be a miqo'te with blue hair and one or two major traits. I did state preferences but they are definitely not required.

A friend suggested this was something I should do so I thought I would give it a try. My character is a Miqo'te who comes from Ishgard. I was raised in a family where the first son always becomes a Dragoon and is trained extensively. In an effort to abandon their tribal past they gave up their name and took up a new one called Kiromeda so as to fit in with the civilized society of Ishgard. My name Xefjord Kiromeda and I was the first and only son of my family. My mother became infertile afterwards and could have no more kids afterwards. I was born with cereleum eye and my father believed I could tough it out and become stronger. But I couldn't and it made it very hard to train me. In an attempt to restore his honor my father tried to kill me by abandoning me out in the cold of coerthas and to forget about me. My mother disagreed and left to never be seen again. Afterwards My father took up a new wife and had two daughters. Sense I created this character this was all merely back story but someone suggested I make a post on the forums and have people actually RP as these characters so I thought I would give it a shot for those who wanted to. My family is reknown for having purple eyes and blue hair. any variety of that is fine (I imagine it will not be the exact same as mine and thats fine.) Options that are open are my Father, Mother, and two sisters. We are all keepers of the moon miqo'te. (Some variation can be allowed like a mix breed of keeper and seeker for my sisters if you want) Last name of Kiromeda would not hurt. Father: Is very honor bound and a very strong Dragoon. He abandon me in a attempt to restore his honor in failing to train me. He is a very cold person with a superiority complex. And will take drastic measures to keep his twisted sense of honor. He has blue hair with grey/white highlights (He is getting old) and deep purple eyes. Mother: My biological mother disagreed with my father and ditched to never be seen again after he abandon me. Feel free to play this character however you, like looks just need to be bluish hair. I also imagine there is some hatred for the fathers outrageous actions. Sister 1 and 2: Both of my sisters abandon my Father after learning of his crazy actions towards his son. Not liking his inconsiderate and crazy attitude to begin with in an attempt to find me and get away. They both DID eventually find me and we kind of take care of each other (I will fill in more on current events if someone wants to take this role) Anyway. Needs to be a Miqo'te. Both sisters will obviously be younger than me. I would kind of prefer both sisters be very different from each other (one is shy while the other is outgoing. ect.) for the sake of making things interesting . Both agreed on the common goal to escape my father and find me though. Not too picky on looks or personality (For the fact my fathers new wife could be any kind of miqo'te and who know what personality/appearance they might recieve.) It is a Linkshell (Although I have a free company for it. It is not strictly RP.) There is not too many do and don'ts that I can think of off the top of my head. Hmm... Well the may way I like to think of my reclusive self is that I like to handle everything myself and not bother others. But I can't handle everything myself which is why I need friends lol. With your battle suggestion. That would be good, but I do not always know who is RPing and even if they are they could just be grinding and not want to RP at the moment. When someone helps you in a fight you ussually don't expect them to be trying to initiate a RP do you?

I am new to FFXIV. I have played many many other mmorpgs in the past and the one I play the most was WoW. I used to RP a lot on WoW but I have a bad tendency of making unimportant loner characters who do not really get to know anyone X_X. I am trying to get more involved in the Roleplay community and so thats why I am here. I hope I can get to know you all and we can have fun roleplaying together. I am on the server Gilgamesh. I would like to get involved in some Roleplays although I am not sure how to include my character or how to find any. I followed the same idea of all my past characters and made mine a reclusive loner. So I will need you guys to make my character involved.
