Ahh that is really cool and I will definitely be trying out your Macro's to see how they work. I had kind of hoped there would be a button that would make the switching around job a bit easier but I have always been horrible with Macros. I am glad there are others who take interest in the idea because I thought it would be a really cool concept to share. I just thought it up a hour or so ago before I made the post. But it seems you have had this awesome idea for a while :3 UPDATE: I run on PC so it was a little different but overall had the same desirable effect. What I ended up doing is it leaves on 1# hotbar there, so I just shift click 10 on my mouse to hotbar 10 (I have a razer naga mouse with 12 keys on it) then I use that as my RP hotbar, I keep the basic emotes I use on there and the activation for RP mode and health check and it works great. the only question I have is for any extra hotbars past #2 would I just put /hotbar display (Whatever number) ? then it would remove/add that hot bar each time? If so it would allow me to have more than just my 2 hotbars. (Not that I really need them lol) and thanks for the emote, maybe others will get some use out of it too :3

I know for most people, RPing is not the only aspect of the game they do. So most keep their HUD layout dedicated for their class that works best for PVP/PVE/Crafting. But has anyone ever actually dabbled in a RP HUD layout? And what would a RP HUD layout look like? Well I am not entirely certain, But I imagine it to be less useful and more realistic in terms of what you character would actually see. Honestly the layout I dabbled with for RP would be absolutely useless for PvP/PvE or any dedicated fighting. But I still find it interesting, and both of my characters I play are dedicated solely to RP as I have my main endgame character on Gilgamesh and do all the endgame stuff on him. So I do not normally have to worry about fighting in large amounts or keeping track of my health. And something about not seeing my health seems a bit exciting and dangerous as well (I am crazy) anywho I designed a layout that focuses more on what your character would see and I believe makes RP more interesting to an extent. Here is how it works. (You could use a few of these features or all of these features if you desire.) I started with the first little bit that I always felt would be interesting to do, And that was making it where I could not see other peoples names. As it would force me to pay more attention to a persons features rather than the name floating above their head and it allows for interesting situations where you could even possibly mistake someone else for being the person you are looking for. Of course you encounter the problem where if you make them ENTIRELY invisible then you can't tell who is talking if you meet new people. So I set it to where you only see their name if targeted. It allows for a situation where I see a person I know over at a table with a stranger wearing the same clothing and hairstyle they normally have and I walk up in greet them! Then I glance to the stranger and ask who they are but when they respond I see it is a familiar name. I click them to see if that was the person who was really talking and I come to realize it was actually another friend of mine who is currently in disguise! Another thing is while it has always been fun to stalk people, a giant name floating over your head made it difficult to actually hide and people will notice you even if it is not IC. Sometimes I feel that some people unrightfully noticed me in my beautiful hiding spot just because my GIANT brightly colored name hovered over it. So I thought it would help me look around more and stay on my toes with the names turned off as well. Because now people stalking you all the sudden becomes MUCH harder to catch. And it becomes all the more realistic/exciting if you do actually catch someone stalking you. <3 The next thing I did after the hiding of names was turn off all the random clutter on my screen my character would not have available IC. Such as the minimap. I do not want to literally know everywhere like the back of my hand and if someone in my party runs away from me IC, I want to actually have to look around for them to find them not MAGICALLY know where they are at. It seems like a hassle, but it helps you keep more detail. Like you can actually get lost if you do not know an area well and then you get an excuse to ask a someone how to get somewhere or pull out a literal map. (M key ) I also removed my gil. If I feel the need to check my ACTUAL gil IC, then I can keep track of a rough estimate or open up my gil back and actually find out how much gil is in there. Neither of my characters I can imagine know the EXACT gil count they have on them at all times. I also hid my health and status effects. Just cause. (I am thinking about bringing them back) But it opens up my screen a bit more. The last thing I really did was turn every ones names the same color, as I feel it awkward that I can INSTANTLY identify people I kind of know because they are on my friends list from a giant crowd. I would much rather like to naturally bump into them and some people on my friends list I do not even remember. It only furthers the realism here because they are the same color as everyone else, so I may not even think twice about walking up to them thinking they are a stranger, which could lead to some interesting RP. It kind of removes some of the instant bias towards friends and allows you to see other people more easily. P.S. I also am going to start to keep in first person most of the time. Although I wish the first person for FFXIV was better Q_Q P.S.S. I have been spending more time in first person and despite the annoying fact it is REALLY hard to look around while sitting and impossible to look straight up. It is actually kind of cool. Like you get an idea of the SCALE of things better sense it shows literally from the height you see from instead of the same distance above you as everyone else. That one tall dude is actually TALL. Also sprinting in the rain feels a lot more realistic, especially when you have sound on. <3 So First person is pretty cool. This HUD layout is by no means for everyone, as it does make it much harder to do actual things OTHER than RP (If you have a specific layout, for the little bits of combat I do I can just hit the default butten on my HUD layout.) But for those looking to make things more interesting that spend most of their time Roleplaying. It may be interesting to give a try. Tell me what you think, if you have any suggestions or if you have your OWN RP based layout :3

Unfortunately Kage's a tall(er-than-lalafell-but-still-shorter-than-other-males) Sunny Miqo'te. Kage's colours are so appealing though. I bet he tastes like a fruit roll-up. The things that I have started cannot be undone Q____Q

Please PM me if you have any comments or questions regarding this Journal. This journal is one in poor condition, it appears to have fallen into a puddle in the rain and ruined many of the pages, but it seems that someone still made use of it. The writing is neatly done as though the person writes very often. It consists of small and curvy letters. Entry One A Lalafell tradesman had passed by and accidentally dropped one of the many blank books that were on his cart in a puddle before me. He looked at me and spit on the road in annoyance saying the book was mine to keep. The book seemed to be I slowly picked it up and the book seemed to be in a different format than the books I use for writing and poetry. I asked one of the locals and he said the piece of Junk is a journal you use to write your thoughts in, and if I wanted to write my thoughts I should not waste it on a book in such poor condition. As it is right now all the money that was saved for me is now long gone. The only way I can even really get food at the moment is to trade a page of Poems for an orange or a small chunk of bread. The host club gives me free food often but I have been finding myself slowly straying away from the place. Besides I have had to use worse hand me downs where I came from before. So this book while not as nice as my others will make a fine new addition to my shoulder bag of books. Master always warned me not to waste what was given to me. I was hesitant to write my thoughts inside of a small book wondering what the purpose was. I just left it in my shoulder bag for a bell or so as it had begun to rain again. But as my thoughts eat at me in my head and I desire to speak with those who are not there I feel I slowly begin to see the value in such a book and so had begun to write with the break in the Ul'dahn clouds. I would far prefer to talk to someone who could respond and tell me everything is okay. But I could not burden anyone like that even if I had someone I could express myself to. My only two people I could even consider friends have either become angry with me or have their own troubles to focus on. I wish I could help them and as I walk the rainy roads of the Ul'dah backstreets I fail to see any options. I have always had to worry about my own well being or I had master to take care of me. But when the time comes that I need to take care of my friends I fall short when they need me most. When I feel I need them most I only cause trouble for them and make their lives even worse. I do not know what to do. Writing into this book may sound useless but it has already made me feel a little better. I simply will not show anyone so as not to bother them with my futile attempts to console myself. Because that is all I have. I miss Doma and resting my head on my masters lap as I watched the rain fall within the safety of the dry porch. Because being out in the rain itself reminds me of how cold things can be. Eorzea is nothing how I expected it to be. I desired to live on a green hill side picking oranges and writing poems about the beautiful Eorzean sunset. But as of late I am slowly losing my will to even write poems. Which is somewhat of the only skill that people value of mine. I suppose I am good at cleaning... But living as a Janitor for the rest of my life does not sound appealing to me at all... I wanted to explore all of Eorzea, but I suppose Raimy is right in that with recent events I am somewhat forced to stay with the Host Club. Even though as of right now the host club has done little but cause me and my friends stress. I do not know what to do. But I suppose as a book you cannot really answer me. I can keep walking these roads hoping to find an answer but I doubt one will come. I just wish that there was something more I could do. Something to despite the warm desert sun, make this biting chilliness go away...

Simply put I believe this is perfectly fine. A good RPer does not always dictate their RP by their class and will sometimes ignore their class entirely and RP their character how they would be RPed. Didn't I read that someone on a guide to RPing on these forums? Ahh yeah, RP handbook. A Heavy RPer might: choose to define their character purely through their story, perhaps even ignoring their in-game class all together. In this case we have a developed RPer who is using the story and attempting use of gray areas in the lore and strictly avoiding that that breaks it. So I see absolutely no reason as to why there would be a problem with it unless someone else wanted to dislike it simply because it is labeled blue mage. And had she not used the label blue mage and simply explained her logical thinking within the grey area of the lore I bet most people would not have a problem with it. Even now it seems that not that many people mind, I mean we have a pretty cool and accepting community. Regarding the possibility of a blue mage appearing and making the lore difficult to use concerning usage of blue mage tactics. I believe that is a Possibility but even if it were done it could be worked around. In this case the girl has given up even being considered the class just to use a sword which shares some of the classes abilities and the classes abilities are possible to be replicated with enough lore know how and creativity. I already talked with her earlier about this but my suggestion for one way this could work is that because Crystals are so magically adept. In creating magical energy and storing it and expelling it into power if you have the right tools, then it is possible that her sword could have strong crystals on it that are enchanted to somehow better absorb the Aetherical abilities of what they come into contact with. You could connect the blade to the crystals and should they want to steal a spell they would just have to come into contact with it and use their own magic to harness the aether into one of the crystals. Then they can release the spell at any time they desire to. Officially allowing them to steal spells and reuse them in a logical manner. I do not even see how it could be considered all that overpowered. It would be more difficult to control then using magic by hand and she is limited only to what she steals from. The abilities would probably drain the crystals too and could only be used a limited number of times before that particular crystal would need recharging. But it is a really cool concept and if that is what she wants to do it is possible and should be encouraged to do because it is how she wants to play her character and it makes her different. *GASP* But people can't be special and different. Well not everyone likes playing average joes, and those that do probably have different definitions for average joe than the next average joe which would classify them as different anyway. (Sorry not a big fan of people trying to be NORMAL. Normal is boring) Anywho, you all probably already know these things I am just trying to reassure the Author here. As I said you all are a accepting community. Anything that struggles lore wise we can help her fix and maybe one day we can enjoy RPing with this awesome character she creates out of it.

You also need to remember that FFXIV has taken Jobs from previous final fantasy games normal classes but the games actual classes that build into those jobs did not really exist in previous FF games. Rogue builds into Ninja and while it seems similar to Thief. They specifically avoid using the term thief. I believe Thief WILL be added into the game later on as a job and that a Rogue and thief are too very different things. So someone roleplaying as a thief is perfectly entitled to do so. Regardless thief is not just a class, anyone who wants to steal stuff could be a thief. So just calling yourself a thief is not really something foreign to the FFXIV world as it is in all worlds.

So I watched the start of Death note and I have always loved detective characters and life and death games in Anime. :3 I begun to wonder if it was possible to have a life and death game scenario in FFXIV. I think it would be really cool to do one. So I came up with this Idea and if anyone is interested or has any other ideas/suggestions please tell me Here is the Idea!: A Garlean research company desires to spy on Eorzean behavior in tight situations and their ability to cooperate through them so they can better understand them and use their weaknesses against them. In order to do this they capture people and implant bombs in them and the only way they are allowed to live is to survive a death game. Should the bomb even begin to be tampered with it will be set off and there can only be one victor. How does one with this game you ask? To win the game you must identify the other participants. They will be marked with a number (In a place of their choosing) and all they need to do is figure out they are a participant, be able to see them, and know their name. Then when they look at them they say the Magic word "Acell" and the bomb will go off (Not violent gore fest, but tearing up their insides and killing them instantly) after a certain period of time. If they guess wrong on if the person is a participant or they say their name wrong then after a certain amount of time their own bomb will go off. Making it high risk you can't say someones name unless you are ABSOLUTELY SURE it is them. I expect anyone that plays this game to make a new character for it specifically (As putting your main character in that situation is probably not what many want to do) BUT should you have trust in your characters abilities or plan on possibly killing your character anyway, feel free to use your own character (A warning though, OOC people will know your characters name from the get go if you use your ONLY character, meanwhile if you make a new character or have multiple alt RP characters, you simply tell me which character you want to participate with and I am the only one who will know which of your characters is the participant, although by using a well known alt you still run the risk of people guessing. Meanwhile a new character could be totally inconspicuous.) I will not participate in the game but watch from the sidelines as a member of this research organization, keeping things in line and even manually activating the bomb if things get to where the experiment itself is in danger. (Although I will be sure to inform you far before it gets to that point so you yourself can attempt to avoid it) The participants will not have any idea that they were ever captured. But they will know they are apart of the game and they will know how to win and what would cause them to lose. Although they are not sure how they know it, maybe they think one of the gods told them it or some shady organization kidnapped them. They do not know anything about the Garlean company directly. They can have backstories or their memory can simply be blank up until they woke up and knew they were in the game. I will possibly do this even in multiple rounds, so after the first game is over and there is a victor (He/she will be let go and their memory wiped of the game upon winning, although others could still remember what happened, their time in the game will be lost like amnesia.) I may do another game exactly like it only with a few extra twists to change the data up a bit. So anyone that missed out on joining in the first game can join the next one. What do yallz think? If you think it is a good Idea I will start taking applications to join. Just send me a private message if you want to participate. I will start the first game if I can get 4 subjects (at the least)

Something I just noticed is all the gladiators daggers and shorter swords seemed to have been renamed to weapons which are normally SIGNIFICANTLY longer. This has me come to think that Gladiators no longer gave daggers and short swords and they have been replaced by bigger swords. Bronze Gladius → Viking Sword Brass Gladius → Brass Viking Sword Aetherial Brass Gladius → Aetherial Brass Viking Sword Blunt Goblin Gladius → Nicked Viking Sword Serpent Private's Gladius → Serpent Private's Sword Storm Private's Gladius → Storm Private's Sword Flame Private's Gladius → Flame Private's Sword Goblin Gladius → Vintage Viking Sword Baselard → Steel Broadsword Aetherial Baselard → Aetherial Steel Broadsword Lominsan Baselard → Lominsan Broadsword Mythril Knife → Mythril Broadsword Aetherial Mythril Knife → Aetherial Mythril Broadsword Bronze Dagger → Bronze Bastard Sword Blunt Goblin Dagger → Blunt Bastard Sword Brass Dagger → Brass Bastard Sword Aetherial Brass Dagger → Aetherial Brass Bastard Sword Maddening Dagger → Carnage Sword Aetherial Maddening Dagger → Aetherial Carnage Sword Warden's Dagger → Inquisitor's Tuck Goblin Dagger → Vintage Bastard Sword

Just thought I would put this out there, Both of the characters I play come from a Ninja clan in Doma. If anyone would like to RP being a Ninja from Doma or at least having been one at one time. Feel free to message me and I can help you. Or if you even feel like you might have known a clan in Doma or visited. There is always a chance our characters could have met :3

Dearest Snake Girl, I am very surprised I did not notice it before and my greatest apologizes. Looking back upon previous letters I noticed you said "might you also be from Doma-?" but I passed over it without giving it a second thought. I was caught totally off guard to the most recent letter of response as I was unaware that you hailed from Doma. You see, I also hail from Doma, it is a beautiful place. But with recent event's I took my leave. I... Lived in a temple with another monk and am a strong pacifist which is why you may come to understand that what I meant by violent was the talks of a violent break off from Garlemald. At the time as word passed through our temple we questioned as to what we as pacifists would do in the case that a rebellion would break out and there really was nothing that we could do. Our temple would inevitably be destroyed. Really there is only one other monk in my Temple and he is very old. He is the one who took me in and took care of me when I had nothing else. Knowing that his time was soon to come he sold everything he had to make sure I could make it to Eorzea... No amount of thanks could ever repay the deed he had done for me. The poem was one I wrote upon the first morning of my departure from Doma. I was stirred by restlessness and a small amount of anger that the idea of a Rebellion was so certain I was forced to leave. There are other alternatives to war and killing... Or so I would so very strongly like to believe. It pains me to hear the rumors are true. That Doma did rebel. I left Doma before it happened but this news does not surprise me too terribly. Pardon me if I am insensitive for bringing this up. I have no one else I can talk to about it. I do not doubt the people of Doma are good people. And despite their means being questionable the people of Doma did fight for a good cause. I wonder what the present state of Doma is as of right now... You are very skilled at gathering knowledge and teaching it Snake Girl. I thank you for the new knowledge you have passed on to me of Ul'dah... I am still somewhat at a loss for words so I apologize. This boat ride has been feeling longer and longer with every sun. I will finally be arriving in Limsa in a few bells, but I do not know what I will do there, what I will see, how things will be. Despite working so hard to finally arrive in Eorzea. For some reason I feel so empty. As though something is missing... I simply hope I can find my way around and make a living on this new continent... It may become difficult to send or recieve letters after I arrive. So should this be my last I thank you very much for the wonderful time you have given me reading your poems and letters. I hope we can meet in Eorzea sometime... I think you may find me a little more shy than I am in writing. I wish you well Snake Girl. The ocean is calm I just watch it soundlessly Under an empty sky Sincerely -Hideki Okamoto

Having done endgame on Gilgamesh and minor RPing I think the server is not dead. Really as long as there is still one or two groups of people still roleplaying the server can't die. But the golden age of Gilgamesh RPing is over, I used to see open world RP quite often but (When I last had subs) it was noticeably declining and somewhat quickly. It became where the only RP I saw was at events I would pass by. These events I imagine were hosted by the RPing free company Giants. The ones who were active on aggressively recruiting people. But with the supposed fall of the RPing giants it is like a ruined mega city with a few RPers of old and new hiding in its ruins. And when you have a few small invisible groups who only RP internally. You can forget there is even a RP community at all. The golden age of RP on Gilgamesh is over. Now the chances of it going into a new era of greatness are there, But it will not be today, nor tomorrow. I believe should this game ever recieve another massive intake of players like WoW Did after Vanilla. Then Gilgamesh has a chance to thrive again. As it still has the appeal of being open range and not having all the rules that need followed if you were to come to Balmung. So I do not think Gilgamesh as died, or that it ever will. It is simply nothing of what it once was. and is more of a haven for the quiet internal RP. in a nice small countryside town. Meanwhile Balmung is new york. It is natural people are going to want to go there because I mean... IT IS NEW YORK? But there are people who don't like big cities and will love Gilgamesh.

Lol this looks like an ancient post and I just now stumbled upon it. Has a site similar to what this is been made yet? If so I would like too see it! Although I do not know of one myself, regardless of if there is or not. I was wondering if maybe we should make a thread for fashion? It would be cool if people would take screen shots of certain outfit combinations or all out gear sets that they think look exceptionally great and would share them with the community. Another addition is adding what the gear is and how to get it so anyone who wants to replicate the set is able to. It is something that is DO able without great knowledge of making websites and stuff and would allow others to share outfit ideas with the people of the forums. Does anyone else think this is a good idea? Any input? (Do we already have this and I am just blind?)

Who are Google, Yahoo!, and Bing? I see them on here occasionally and they are invisible. Is it a really awesome organization of invisible RPers who invite fabulous people to join their party and become a search engine? Or is it just the company's stalking us?

Good evening Snake Girl, It is nothing to worry about. It is good to take care of yourself, Sadly I am not going anywhere fast hah... The Scholar does not sound like a very friendly type. I personally think that if you strive to learn something new, You should understand the will to learn and not reject others learning but help it grow. But I am just a naturally curious person who does not yet know much about the world. Although I do not see the point in learning if you do not have what you have learned to share with anyone else. That is one of the reasons that I write poetry. To share the wonders of life with others. Still I would not hold much against him. I am sure the scholar will learn their lesson in their own time. So the ruins you visited was once a city called Sil'dih? That is amazing. But it is a shame that they fell. Were they a evil or greedy people? Keeping the water all to themselves? Or was Ul'dah simply on a conquest? Is Ul'dah a kingdom that conquers others?... I personally feel a little bad for Sil'dih even if they were ruled by evil people. As a result of their fall I am sure many innocent lives were lost. I do not believe in the killing of any living being that is not an absolute necessity. And I can't think of an argument that would justify killing to be a necessity... But there is nothing that can be done about the past. Simply educating ourselves and others to keep them from making the same mistake in the future is what we must do. I thank you for the newly attained knowledge. I also thank you for the suggestion of place to travel. I will definitely try to make my way there because I trust your suggestion is a good one! I am not a merchant. Simply a poet. I am traveling on a merchant vessel because at the time it was my only option for getting to Eorzea. My ship mates are a bit strange. There are some people from my land and some from yours. But overall the atmosphere feels far more relaxed than what is normal. But apparently it is normal in your land. Politeness is not as big of an issue at the high seas. And while I do worry about how sanitary or healthy some of their actions are. They are for the most part quite friendly. Let me tell you a Poem about another Kingdom which I fear is heading down a dangerous path much like the one you spoke of. Though I wish it were not so. I depart beauty I almost wish I could stay Illusions seduce and weary I am Eorzea holds new hope Escape from the damned The world is like ice and Doma like fire melted the world and snuffed itself Violence is saddening Doma is violent Only choice to save myself I wish it were not I will miss Doma But will not regret journeying away I dream of Orange You sent me a poem not long ago that was more than 3 sentences. And it's syllables were odd. But it was very beautiful to read. I am not sure the rule of syllables for that kind of poetry so I did not want to risk embarrassing myself in trying to write a poem of its kind. But I did try something new in extending my Haiku. Although I do not know if this can even be considered poetry anymore. It was fun to write. Thank you for your poem and I look forward to our next chat! Tell me, just out of curiosity, do you happen to be a Miqo'te as well? Sincerely -Hideki Okamoto

I think we can all agree. If there were mixed races, by default every race would now have cat ears.

balmung Traveling Poet to soon arrive in Eorzea
Enzo replied to Enzo's topic in Chronicled Connections
I plan to visit all parts of Eorzea! I mean I am a "TRAVELING" Poet. I am just arriving in Limsa to begin with! But if you would like to further our chances of meeting other than just crazy random happen stance. You could always pick Hideki up as a pen pal on his thread on the Town Square. You do not have to know poetry. He will kindly give without needing much in return. It is simply that traveling to a whole new world, Hideki wants to make friends and learn all about it. :3 -
balmung Traveling Poet to soon arrive in Eorzea
Enzo replied to Enzo's topic in Chronicled Connections
I see I see. Interesting. I do not know if I would want a body guard. Maybe from the animals. But my character is a pacifist and will try to avoid fighting as often as possible. Although I am sure we can whip up some excuse to hang out together. :3 -
I am as the title states a Traveling poet and the next and final place (Probably) I want to visit is all of Eorzea! I will be arriving at the Limsa docks sometime by the weekend or next week. I was wondering if there was anyone I might stumble into at Limsa? I will be trying to explore every inch of Limsa burning holes through notebooks as I write poetry through them at light speed. So if anyone feels they are interesting enough to be the center of my attention for poetry (Pretty girls, pretty guys can try but they got tough competition *Cough* I mean equality to all the subjects of Limsa... *Cough*) I would be happy to meet and study you, what you do, and everything there is to learn about Limsa and the rest of Eorzea. P.S. I hope I made this right... I just skimmed through what this section actually was going by the title P.S.S. I am a poet not a stalker. Don't worry, I am safe <3

*Hyperventilates and drools* P-P-POETRY?!?!?! MAYBE?

I will participate. Although I will add if we are technically playing as our characters. Mine may have a hard time speaking up for reasons you already know of. (No need to reveal <3)

Fun fact! Troll in Japanese is Arashi! (荒らし) I just respond by calling them a Kitchen! Err! I meant noob, Chuubou (厨房) which also happens to mean kitchen...

Usul... I like it. Now can we just add THE THREE BEARDED OX After it?
