Yeah, I find that the EU has nicer vanity items and they also have an emote tab in the shop area, but it has nothing in it, so I dunno if that means they plan on implementing new emotes to purchase...wish it were a walk button they were implementing. I'll most likely go onto the US version I'm buying ESO once it comes out, I really enjoyed beta but it seems like it needs quite a bit of work in certain aspects. I've been checking out the TSW videos on youtube and it's seriously appealing, especially if there's so much RP in it.

You guys are really making me want to try TSW and rejoin Tera. >_< I have EU and US copies of Tera...not sure which one to go back on!

No worries! I didn't think you were claiming you were being ignored. It's just a common mistake that happens a lot when trying to jump into some random RP with a group, so I figured I'd toss that out there just in case. I myself tend to be somewhat shy and anxious when approaching a group of total strangers, so I understand how you feel. That's okay then I didn't want you thinking I was saying people were ignoring me or anything like that or like blaming it on people or something. :3 It's my own insecurities that do it.

@Tiergan I never claimed anyone was ignoring me,(being ignored is the norm when RP'ing on wow unless you're popular on my server ) what I was saying is that I lack the nerve to even begin an RP(I've tried in other games and had people tell me that they are RP'ing in that area or that I'm wrong, etc) and just am unsure how to join in without pissing people off. I know some people wont respond to OOC /tells since they only respond IC, and I know a lot of people in one place means a chat log spam wherein speech can be lost in someones log. My problem is more...I just don't know how to network with other RP'ers and sort of, join in. I don't want to just leap into someone's RP just for reasons like it perhaps being a plot they don't want/need others in and so on. I hope I'm not coming off as arrogant or something, implying people are being 'means' and such on FF. I don't think that at all, I just worry I'll annoy the crap out of fellow RP'ers since they all seem so good at it! A lot of folk who RP I often find already know each other and I worry I intrude on them is all? Which is why I need to try my hand at cold /tell I mean I do definitely need to get used to it compared to WoW, but most of my main MMO rp'ing experience comes from WoW where a lot of the time, elitists in the RP 'hang outs' told you to sod off. It's kind of what I'm expecting when I talk to most people on MMO's now and its a hard habit to break. >_< Part and partial of it is it's just me being a bit of a loser and letting my worries stop me.

@Apl_J Oh god, don't get me wrong, I don't expect people to walk up to me and start RP'ing at all! D: I'm sorry if it came across as that. I do want to approach people but I just sort of stop and think 'well would they want me to bug them?' or 'I'm not as good as them' and so on. I kind of scare myself off a bit. Partly anxiety, partly because I'm so used to people in other MMO's telling me to bugger off. I'm sorry if it came across as me being contrary or anything! D: Thanks all, I probably come across as the worst person ever As I say, I am so so used to being told to get lost or to go away when trying to join in on other games, that I've kind of schooled myself into thinking it'll happen here and so I might hang around RP areas and instead people watch rather than join in >_< @Xieveral I worry about that as well, that people might just be like 'Your character sucks, gtfo' or something, so I tend to sort of back off and watch others RP. Delainaut reminds me of my guy Del, he's quiet and shy, bit socially awkward. Kind of like me. Where as my Dragoon who I plan on transferring is really calm, cool, collected and bad ass. Thank you so much for all the replies everyone, it's all really encouraging to hear that people honestly don't mind. I will definitely try the cold /tell thing at some point and see if I can't network a bit with people. I do need to get WoW out of my head a lot, as it's one of the main reasons I'm so cautious about other players.

Thank you for all the responses everyone :3 I admit ,I do tend to over worry, it comes from having social anxiety issues, sadly it tends to follow me over into the internet as well and on MMO's! >_< I shall attempt to message at least one person when I next log in, as you suggested C'kayah and see where it gets me. I admit, I totally did not think about putting an RP tag into my search info for people to see, so I shall also do this. L'Tao Loha would probably be someone Del would talk to, more so if she's an info broker, since he's not really getting any results at the moment. I am also bringing my dragoon over to Balmung at some point as well, once I am paid from work, so I'm also going to see how things go with him too. He's more brash so he'd be more likely to say things to people than Del, who is quiet. But yes, thank you so much guys :3

I'm not too sure how to get connections at the mo, I am in an OOC/LFRP linkshell called Europa, but at times I'm a bit too shy to say much. >_< @Ember My online times vary with my work since it's shift work. But mostly I play in the evening or through the day if I am off work. I'm in the UK so I got by GMT. If you do want to discuss some potential RP between our charries, feel free to drop me a PM on here @Faye I was looking at an RP FC at one point, but work has side tracked me. I think it was The Travellers Guild and I remember looking at the page and thinking I might not be up to par with the recruitment process. >_< Ildur, if you have solutions, please tell me why, whenever I make a peanut butter sammich, the peanut butter ruins the bread by not spreading. Hokies, I find that in game I am really struggling to RP with people, mainly because I; A: Get worried they will be mad I interrupted them. B: Find everyone else is way more talented in RP. C: Am shy as hell, even online. (it's taken me a good half hour to write this and read it over. And over...before getting the nerve to post it) D: My wiki page is no where near as good/enriched as most on there. D: Essentially, I don't want to rock the boat and have people be angry with me. Perhaps I am being over cautious, but it comes from years on Argent Dawn (WoW), Guild wars, Tera Online and Aion where the RP'ers were well established and disliked the 'newbs'. As such, I figure making a thread on here wouldn't hurt. I hope. D: Basically at the mo on Balmung I have my Arcanist, Delanaux Guillaume and I'm looking for something plot wise I can get him involved in? He's pretty easy going, sweet and a bit naive, so I'd love to get him into something where he's encouraged to shed that kind demeanor or something else where I can try out his characterization. I do have a few RP plans for him myself, as at the moment he is searching for his brothers, who have disappeared so if anyone wouldn't mind me approaching them, asking about his brother's and so on, then drop me a line perhaps? I have other plans in this storyline of his, wherein he finds out what has become of his brothers but I've not progressed to that yet, since I know about one person in game >_< And am a bit too shy to always talk on Europa. Failing that, and people just don't like my guy or suggestions, any tips on how to actually slide into an RP that's already on going?

Thank you for the replies everyone, I do appreciate the input into this. I do generally tend to worry a lot, more so since I am not fully up on lore in this game yet, just on naming conventions. As I say, I have the back story, but I was paranoid that people would see the name think 'Oh god, another idiot' and back right off, were I to RP. I'm glad though that you guys think otherwise! :3

I had someone moan at me last night that my character's name is 'too long'

I've had a search and found a few topics similar, but this is more a personal question, so I thought I would ask here. I have a main on Ragnarok that I am seriously thinking of transferring over to Balmung (to be honest, the welcoming people on here have convinced me hehe), but I am a tad concerned his name might cause me a few problems, being that it is Garrus Calinth. Now when I first made him, it was my little cousin who made the name up after saying how much she liked the space kitty in Mass Effect (I am inclined to agree, he's adorable). As such, I am loathe to change it, should the option ever come up, as I am quite fond of it and the fact that she made the name up. My question is, will the name Garrus and the fact that it is from another game, cause me problems RP wise? It didn't matter so much on Ragnarok as virtually no one RP's there, but I'd like to bring him over here and keep the name, but I'm a little concerned people might scoff at me over it and it might earn me a rep on the server as being someone to avoid when it comes to RP? Not sure if that makes sense, but I know a lot of people are quite insistent that lore abiding names should be used, that I worry I'd have wasted my time transferring. One of my other reasons for transferring is that Ragnarok is a very silent server in terms of people talking. I've barely spoken to anyone online, in parties or say, even my FC is silent, so I'm hoping to come to a more lively server with like minded people. I can spin his name off by his back story, because I'd always had him as being found as a baby and raised by Hyur, so a story isn't the issue, it's more what others might think and how badly people feel with other franchise names being used, so if anyone had any feedback I'd appreciate it. Sorry if this is silly >_< I'm a bit of a worrier.

RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): It really does depend on the situation that presents itself. I'd consider Tavern RP to be light and casual, where as a larger plot would be heavy. I don't mind any level of RP, all I ask is that there be a way to contact a person OOC in case of emergencies or an AFK. I enjoy a huge variety of plots, from light and casual, to macabre and horror. I quite enjoy writing darker plots and tense atmospheres, as well as putting characters in situations which test their boundaries and strength of character. If you have a plot you'd like to put forward I am all ears! Views on RP combat and injuries: Combat and injuries are something I've not had much practice in and would love to learn about. I think injuries and combat all add to an RP experience, so I am up for most things in regards to this, so long as it doesn't involve my character dying. Views on IC romance: Absolutely fine with this, so long as it isn't forced. I prefer to see what might happen between two characters, rather than trying to plot their romance out. If a character likes my character than they are welcome to flirt, let them know etc, but I can guarantee it will be reciprocated! Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Families ties I would be a little skeptical about unless I knew the other player well. Other things such as friendships and the like I am all for, and if you have an idea that you'd like my character involved with, feel free to drop me a line. Views on lore: Lore obviously makes up the world we're playing in, and as such I can conscious of it and will try to make sure my character is en keeping of said lore.However, this does not mean I am a stickler for lore and I am willing to stretch the boundaries of if if it seems logical and has a good basis in plot, and isn't something thought up on a whim. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): I prefer to do my roleplaying via the /say and /em. When speaking I will usually always do it in /say and then follow with an action in /em, purely because seeing both the say and emote in one text colour strains my eyes a tad and I struggle to pick it out in the chat box. If an RP needs to be taken to PM's or Skype (gore levels, swearing etc), I am willing to give out my Skype address if need be. III. Yes, there was an event where Lightning was popping up all over the place, so I'd say it's possible to dimension hop. You said it doesn't give your character any ungodly powers and such, so I honestly don't see why this person gave you such a hard time. And even if she did have abilities beyond the norm, how you choose to play a character is up to you. People can give pointers, advice and tips, but telling you to get off a server or to scrap a character isn't their call. I'm sure there are going to be times where people hate my character, but sadly it's something you always get in RP. I've only just started RP'ing on this server myself, coming from WoW, and I think in NO WAY does that mean you should be 'kicked off the server'. I actually think your character sounds interesting, and whoever this person was, they were clearly being Elitist. I would honestly pay them no attention, because they definitely don't speak for the whole server. Really, don't worry at all about it, if anything, blacklist the player so then they can't harass you over it. And then come and hang out with all of us! :3

Hope people don't mind a noob posting in here! But I'd love to meet some people as I progress! I've just started with my Elezen, Delanaux Guillaume on Balmung; Naive, kind of socially awkward and he's pretty gullible when it comes to other people. He's the type of person who'd end up joining a cult and only realize a week later. Perhaps you've seen him wandering about in Limsa, looking lost or reading a book in a quiet corner. Other times he can be seen simply staring into space. Don't let his demeanor fool you though, while he's not got a temper, he has some skill to back him up. Before Limsa he was brought up by his grandfather and brothers. He began traveling very recently in an attempt to catch up to his brothers and find out where they have disappeared to. At the moment I'm also looking for someone who wouldn't perhaps mind being hero worshiped a little by Del due to him having a crush on them. Since Del leans more toward men, if you've anyone who wouldn't mind him thinking your guy is the best thing since sliced bread, let me know. :3

I'm so glad that the lack of walk button is something others were disappointed with too! I actually love the look of Tera but just...that walk button. I just... T_T Hm, odd question but do you need to have a certain post count on the forum to create a wiki page and such? I'm just looking at ways to get my character out there and so on.
