Hello fellow Rpers/Writers! As topic says I've got an idea (not fully thought out) that I'm intrigued with but not really sure if the premise can be made into a FFXIV idea. I am researching a game that I plan on playing when it comes in this week, Legend of Dragoon is what it is call. I was thinking about the soul stones of FFXIV and they kind of remind me of the dragoon spirit from this game. http://legendofdragoon.wikia.com/wiki/Dragoon_Spirit (Link that talks about the stones) http://legendofdragoon.wikia.com/wiki/The_Legend_of_Dragoon (Link that talks about the game) I've got this idea that Rinoa's mother, Shana, is an expert archer and healer, she gives her daughter her silver white stone (reference to the Silver White Dragon Spirit-it is specialized in healing) that reacts to her and awakens her healing abilities. (It's not white Mage strength, yet) I would love to call her a dragoon, though I've read it is only for the lancer class, but in the game dragoons are archers/lancers/swordsman(women)/and axe fighters. They are also called Dragon Knights as well. This game is what made me love dragons and the idea of being able to fight with a dragon spirit that picked it's newest champion, I really like and would love to somehow have a connection to the dragons in the game. The story sort of resembles FFXIV instead of the main bad guy in the game, it's Zodiark in FFXIV trying to be reborn. What do you guys think I could go with this possible inspiration?

I am stuck! I've got 2 looks I adore and can't decide. Which do you think is looks better? Her name is Rinoa Lyon Full name is: Rinoa "Mizuki" Serenity Lyon, she is going as a summoner. Edit: Here is a bit of her personality. She is a kind, caring, and loves to help others. She is like a combination of Yuna and Serenity from SM. When those she loves are in danger or the land she lives in, she can't stand to see them in danger and always rises to defend. As some of said, she is a gentle and warm character. Very sweet and polite and respectful.

Thank you all for the quick responses. I plan to make a character that is for my writing in-game, quite possibly I'll move her to Balmung and give RP a try once more. I used to write and incorporate RP and other players into my writing and many loved what I came up with. I do draw from music/anime/games/movies etc but at the moment nothing is sticking. What I'm playing with is an Ul'dah setting, character is the daughter or adopted daughter of a noble family who makes their fortune in the weaver/gold smithing trade, that is about all so far. It is a basic idea, nothing crazy. ?

Hello everyone. I'm posting this in hopes that I could get a few pointers in creating a character for a fanfiction about FFXIV. The server I'm on isn't RP based and many of my character creations are mainly for writing and not RP. I used to RP a lot on World of Warcraft as a human then gnome by the name of Plua Swiftwind. She was a Mage that had a secret past that only those closest to her knew of. I loved the character and had many RP moments and fiction ideas for years that is until I had my heart broken and I haven't used said character in 5 years as it has too many painful memories attached. Since the. I've not written much of anything, except ideas that come and go before I can elaborate on them. Lately, as you all have read in the posts I've made, I've been struggling to find a new character that I had such a close personal connection with like I did with Plua. I have my main Tsubasa Lightheart back (was lalafell and is now an Au Ra). I've been pulling from the saying "write what you know" for inspiration. I've been pulling inspiration from the anime Sailor moon/horses and a little from my old character's background. For those who write, how do you come up with a character and backstory for writing? I would love to RP but I'm scared to move a character over as the last time I was on Balmung queues to log on to the server were long. Has that changed? Would Nadeshiko (Pink-Fringed Carnation) or Yuna/Yuuna (Sea Hibiscus) work for Raen females? I am reading the naming conventions and it says ". Many female names are based off of plants, weather, birds, or the seasons─words that represent beauty and kindness in the Doman society." For surnames, what would work for a weaver/jewelry maker? or for a healer/arcanist? I've got an alt who is named Yunas Serenity, the "S" in Yunas is silent so it would be pronounced Yuna Serenity. Serenity isn't her last name, just her middle name as I have her as an orphan taken in by a weaver/jewelmaker parents. Her mother, a lalafell, felt the name Serenity suited because Yuna was such a serene baby when they took her in.

Not sure if it goes but I need a refresher real fast. The new hairstyles coming out, will they be accessible with fantasia or the aesthetican?

Hey guys, I need some advice. I don't if I told anyone here but I just got back my level 58, Rinoa Lightheart (she's 59 now). I'm so happy! :love: I did the stupid thing and deleted her when I was sick last year. Anyway, my question is how do you all get back into a character that you've not played in a LONG time? I've been trying to continue the story with her but I'm enjoying the new character I made more. Please tell me some ways you all got back into playing/RPing a character. I really appreciate the feedback.

I wish it was feasible that I could play as a summoner with the elemental horses as my summons but I've been told that it isn't possible as they aren't really essences of the primals. For those who do have the elemental horse mounts, how do you incorporate it into RP? Also, could someone suggest a character wiki of some RPers who went the RP route as a summoner so I can see what paths they went? My mind feels like a block and not even while playing am I getting ideas.

thank you everyone for the replies. If you look through my topics, you can see I've been all over the place with ideas for writing and for RP. I love playing as Au Ra (they look like half dragon/half human) Hyur (my main character) and Lalafell (I love the chibi characters and I did level my main whom I deleted, I solely leveled as a lalafell from I think 20 to 50, had to change because can't seem to handle the camera angle.) Hey guys, I think I know why I've been struggling to find the right RP/writing path for any of the characters I've made. I spent the last hour thinking about it and it dawned on me that the reason for my indecision is that I don't know the game's lore/history enough to even make a reliable story/RP. I spent 2008-2013 with World of Warcraft, researching the Wowiki and buying each novel (not comic) released to learn the world I'm playing in. Where can I go to find all the history of Eorzea? I know I've go the forums but I can't really post on there just yet (or I can't figure out how). Do we have something similar to Wow's wiki? I started at the beginning of 2.0 when it launched so I don't know much of what happened before the Calamity (Only what I know from the game's story.) I really appreciate the patience you've guys shown with each idea I've come up with and I am appreciative of the advice and suggestions given to a truly novice FF Roleplayer and Fanfiction writer. Hey guys, I'm taking a page from the "Is it really impossible to RP if I want my character to become a White Mage" by missmizzy4. How can I RP as a Summoner? I love the class and the lore behind it, I know they are suppose to be few and far between, but I really love RPing with summons/pets/mounts (did this in World of Warcraft for years.) How would you suggest I go about doing so? I really want to use the elemental horses as summons. I'm toying with the thought of my character being like the main character from Supergirl, living her life until a day came where she had to use her powers. She is a master weaver/goldsmith and she is sought after by high ranking families who want her creations. She is the adopted daughter so she is trained along side her sister, Tsubasa. So what do you think? Anyway my idea could be plausible? Thank you for reading!

I wasn't throwing words together. I have been doing research and Mizuki did pop up when I did clicked the little random name generator. I think I like Fujikawa for a surname. Mizuki Fujikawa name translates "Beautiful, Moon, Wysteria River" and I think it flows nicely, don't you agree? I was thinking of Mizuki being a scholar/teacher, she loves to learn and enjoys learning about the history of Eorzea. I want to say that she was the daughter of a clan in Othard and a priestess/miko as that is what she looks like to me.

Hi Roleplayers! This is Mizuki, an Au Ra Arcanist I will be leveling and I can't for the life of me come up with a proper last name for her. I apologize for the post if it doesn't go here but I really need assistance. Mizuki I believe fits the Au Ra naming conventions as I did the random name generation at the character screen and that name popped up. For those who might not know but Mizuki means (mi) "beautiful" and 月 (zuki) "moon". It can also come from 瑞 (mizu) "congratulations" and 希 (ki) "hope". I think Sakura is a surname from Edo Era and it means "Cherry Blossom" so her name would be Mizuki Sakura, translation "Beautiful Moon Cherry Blossom" or "Congratulations, Hope Cherry Blossom" (I prefer the first translation) Do you think it works? If not what last name would you suggest for my future character? Thank you for reading! I am really excited to play her! I want to either write a fanfiction about this character OR actually move her to Balmung and RP. Can't wait to read what you all suggest.

Hey everyone, long time no see. I need some advice on laptop brands and I thought maybe my fellow FFXIV community could help me. I know I need at least a GTX 970/980 graphics card as my desktop has GeForce GTX 970 graphics card and FFXIV runs at 60fps. I've not bought a laptop in 9 YEARS and what I picked back then was an Asus. The graphics card burned out several years ago but the laptop itself runs perfectly. I've looked on Best Buy and on Amazon but I'm still unsure of what to look for that can run FFXIV just as smoothly as my desktop does. I need something that can handle A LOT of gaming as I will quite possibly be using it either for evenings with the family or for trips when I go out of town. For those that have laptops what you would suggest I look at? I need to save my funds so just looking for the time being. Thank you kindly!

First before I get to the topic title, I just want to apologize for all the ideas. I was trying to come up with ideas for my characters. I really hope I didn't offend to anyone. I do love FFXIV and its lore. I just wanted to say I am sorry. Ok, to the main topic. Anyone have links or advice to someone who is going to start over with ideas? I've been struggling to write for years, little stories here in there. I do want to RP (I've started my linkshell on Faerie) We've got 10 members now and some are beginners and I want to come up with an RP that is good to begin on. Hey guys, I have made a LS on Faerie called Galaxy Cauldron! I based the idea on the place in Sailor Moon, a place where stars and worlds are born in the Manga Sailor Moon Universe. I thought it would be a perfect name for a place where stories on Faerie to be a start. I've been advertising in /shout but also I've posted in Party Finder. I recruited two members who are experienced in running LS/FCs and they keep it posted in Party Finder. Already we have 5 members and we are meeting at a house in Mist, Ward 4, Northeast Subdivision. :love:

I made an alt with the same look but the name is different. I did research on what would be a great last name. I picked Nadeshiko Yuuka, I love the meaning "Pink-Fringed Carnation, Gentle/Superiority flower." I am going to be leveling her as a SMN/WHM/BLM. I am turning to you guys for ideas! I am thinking of Nadeshiko being a historian, leaving Othard to explore the world due to a strange dream she had been having (Not the one in the MSQ, a different one.), that is just the basic idea so far.

I'm on Faerie and I would love to join the RP Linkshell as I'm apart of a FC. I've been wanting to RP for the longest time and be able to come up with ideas for my writing as I'm still struggling. (Taking a break from the fanfiction) I play Serena Lightdragon, hope to talk to you in-game!

I ask about PC summoners. I plan to keep Serena a summoner/White Mage as that is how I see her. I know our class for Summoner comes from the lore of Allag and that such summoners are rare. I wanna know those who play summoners how do they portray their class as something else? Are there summoners like Aaron who focus on ice summons (ice wolves like the mount that is blue/white) Are there summoners who base their powers on other places that have summoners but they are called differently?

Alright, since I learned Summoners are RP/fanfiction allowed besides the Allag Summoners, what other Summoners are there?

I read that RPing a summoner is not allowed as the lore says that Summoners are rare. I thought Raen had tribes like the Xaelas and the raising idea is just a thought I can easily change it, but I do like the Summoning elemental horses in place of the Egis. (Give me some motivation to go after the actual mounts in game. lol) I do want her to be a WoL but maybe change things up a bit, give certain scenes my own take on what should of happened. I've already got an idea for a scene for Enbarr joining Serena's team. I know the horses are only obtainable from the primals but I really like the connection to my favorite Atelier Iris game. I apologize if what I wrote sounded like I decided right away it was reasonable, honestly, I didn't really had a smarter title to use. >< I've been told write what you know and horses are one thing I know.
