  1. Really, really late but... >.> Character Name: Hana Pendant Gender: Female Species: Lalafell, Plainsfolk Age: 19 Role: Date-to-be-auction'd! Hana's a conjurer, studying under the Stillglade Fane and not long out of apprentice-hood. She's fairly pious, has an interest in botany and folk-lore/fairy tale.. 'Hopefully that's enough at such short notice? There's a link to her RPC wiki page on her name above!
  2. Oh gosh nostalgia 'Was a date auction that really got me into RP on FFXIV back during v1.0X. I can't really think of reason for any of my characters to bid.. but I think I can come up with reasons for their going up to auction! I'll send a PM!
  3. 'Thief' has been stated by Yoshida as being part of the longer term considerations, but I believe the suggestion was it would be a Discipline, with Assassin and such like being possible jobs from it and.. yeah, very speculative. Among other things I particularly remember something like 'we do want to add dual-wielding, but we don't know if we want it to be a Gladiator ability or something for a future Thief class'. As for the job system.. well, it's pretty simple, but I'll not link since the details are - until the lodestone update they'll probably drop next week - rather scattered about. 'Long and short of it is it's a specialisation system. You get to a particular level (25-35-ish depending, I think) in the required Disciplines, then do a quest and get given a stone that you equip to activate that job, like how you activate a Discipline by wielding one of its weapons. Jobs don't have levels independent of their associated Discipline, but rather you do quests to unlock their special gear and abilities. They're much more powerful in their specific roles, but have little to no cross-classing ability as do Disciplines. The whole concept is pretty expandable, and the developers have suggested a few times there'll be more Jobs down the line as well as more Disciplines, more than one for each Discipline at that. Gladiator > 'Dark Knight' for instance seems pretty likely from the things have been said about it.
  4. In reply to Oskar's asking about the graphics.. well, they're good. I'm not really sure what to compare it to, but I'd put them somewhere in the same league as Final Fantasy XIV, perhaps just a bit below. The developers started work on the Cryengine 2, and recently licensed and moved development onto the Cryengine 3. Not that I know much about the Cryengine beyond it looking pretty. Does it perform okay? But yes, I'd be surprised if Archeage isn't at least two or three years from an international release, maybe even coming up five.
  5. I must admit, I am immensely excited for Archeage and I hope desperately it does well. It seems like the only MMO presently out or in development.. possibly aside from EVE - that's actually chasing the ideal of an online world. So.. yeah, hope ^^
  6. (( Disregard former complaint, missed end of post =.= I'll try to turn up but that's 1am my time, so .. well, I'll do my best. I assume character level is irrelevant? ))
  7. ... So... the first RP event in yonks would've started at a convenient time is cancelled because people didn't..? I don't like to sound.. um.. bad or whatever word's better but.. oh well it's too late now. I guess I missed the announcing it with all this faffing about with the plumbers and caravans.. Bother.
  8. Alright, sorry for jumping down your throat there Oskar. That said, when the reply responds solely, negatively to one element of a post without addressing its content - even if the poster does, in fact, feel positively about that content - it ought not be surprising when someone assumes the poster is being negative toward the post in general based on their seemingly wholly negative response; especially when the negativity is to something so innocuous as wanting to deliver the results of a discussion between friends in a single post. Whatever happens though, what very little I can contribute right now's been voiced I suppose and it looks like others have far more to lend the discussion than I do. So for now.. back to just reading.
  9. Oh, sure, attack the post format rather than speaking to its concerns. You'd've seen me chiming in on subject beside Mnim's post sooner but for having to travel to my aunt's caravan for the night, what with the plumbers disabling the water/heating and all. Still, since adding a different voice is clearly unwelcome, I'll not join in the discussion and just leave my input on the subject at noting I also get a lot more out of open, unscheduled play and my characters' day-to-day than events, really fun though events may be. But then, since you only seem concerned about the fact the post wanted to add the results of a discussion as a single post, I guess the only bit would have mattered is that I want in on that detestable 'we', anyway.
  10. Apparently, they will. To quote Yoshida in the post linked above:
  11. Ah, good I suppose I had best remove the poll, hadn't I? Hopefully everyone will just.. not apply to transfer. And hopefully we're all right assuming Besaid isn't going anywhere -.-; Although come to think, I suppose it'd still be a non-issue, since as long as we don't apply to transfer.. we'll end up in the same place anyway, right? So we'll just have to worry about spreading the news about the new, unofficial world once the developers pick a name for it.. assuming a seperate RP server isn't suggested, officially. That could make things awkward x.x;
  12. I admit, I read people only being moved if their server closes or if they're asked to as a possible interpretation too, and it's very much my hope that that is the case. I just can't be sure enough it isn't 'name the worlds but punt everyone' to not be really uncomfortable, still.
  13. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/14967-Translations-(JP-to-English)?p=548620&viewfull=1#post548620 Here, one Reinhart post link >.> I'll hold off putting that in the first post, for now, since he's only 'seeing if it's possible'. I must admit, however, it remains a flicker worrisome. If 'Option 2' happens and players are still going to be ejected from their servers and asked to pick again, there's a real possibility of being unable to rejoin Besaid.
  14. I just realised - choices open March 1st, not March 27th - that's the lock-in date. As such I've modified the poll to close on the 29th of February - 20 days from now - so we've a day's leeway before the choices open. It'd be a bit of a sod for us to be polling still, while the servers are busy filling up without us >.> ... Four replies in the time it took me to write that, good lord. Anyway, said it a few times, so .. obviously we oughtn't be inflexible. But as above, just as everyone else is charging off deciding things.. I don't know it seemed the right choice setting off a poll at the time. God knows I'm watching and likely prioritising the rest of the community,though.
  15. Definitely I agree - thus my mentioning in first post the threads on the official forums related to the matter and their apparent start, although I admit I only listed the ones mention roleplay rather than every topic related to Besaid. At best being 'RPC's way or the highway' about it would be kinda rude and ungrateful in many ways, and at worst it could send RP'ers in multiple directions instead of gathering them. But I agree, Besaid has been a remarkably nice community.. it'd be horrid if we lose that.
