1. Well, now that it's all been said and done, "Saga of the Wind Swept Sands" has ended. It is with both a degree of sadness and joy that I announce this. I have met so many amazing people through this and it has been a fantastic experience that I'm sad to see end. It has been both a privilege and an honor to host this event and I want to thank, Kahn'a, Osric, Kanaria, Delial, S'honji, Vali, Jana, and everyone else who decided to jump on this crazy rp train and make it as entertaining as it ended up being. I am glad this managed to bring even a part of the Balmung server together. I would also like to say thank you to Erik Mynhier who, although was unable to participate, helped me with the early planning stages when I was new to this game. With out him, this may never have come to be. So what lies in store? Well once the logs are posted (sadly not mine) and set and I get back from my weekend away, I'll be posting a recap. Once everything is posted, I maybe stepping back and taking a bit of a breather from running an event like this. This event was a ton of fun but I could NOT have done it alone and honestly it has been a bit like work. lol. And besides, I have some offshoots from this event that I need to wrap up. *STARES AT OSRIC* So you will run another one? I would love to, but I first need a set up to do so. You have an idea and want to work with me on it, send me a PM. I'd love to help Balmung have some more events like this one. Hell, if you can convince me, I might not even have a bit of downtime before starting another. But you need the idea this time. lol But what happened to Askier? He got shot! Ah, yes, Askier getting shot. He did get shot. But is he dead?! Ever been to Limsa? Everyone, please have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to more rp in the future.
2. ...Askier insists on getting people into trouble. First Kahn'a... now me... tl;dr: it technically continues, but officially the Saga is done. Just offshoots, now. Log is supposedly incoming, by the by. My comp crashed, Haeden 90k'd, and Askier is Askier, so it might be a while. Eyes open, folks. Oh sure...blame Askier...Askier is an easy target. But no seriously, my log program went nuts and got all disorganized  and yeah, basically gotta rebuild logs and am out of town all weekend soooo.....
3. Hello everyone! Tonight is the Saga finale. Will this episodic rp go out with a bang or a trailing whimper? Well you're gonna have to attend to find out, cupcake. Our Garlean Askier and the brave heroes will be starting the trial at 8:30 inside the chamber of rule where this all began so long ago during Erik's ball. I can't wait to see everyone there and seeing how this all plays out. There are plenty of surprises to be had I'm sure. ;D Also, might as well post this here. After tonight, I will not be in game until sunday or monday night since I am attending my sister's University graduation this weekend and then Monday is my birthday. Though I will certainly be lurking in these forums. Lol.
4. Wait...wait...wait. Someone sold Vali a cannon?!!! Whelp there goes the neighborhood.
5. This sounds like a lot of fun. Depending on how things work out with the IC events Askier's has going on currently, I'd be up for working out a way to involve him once they are all resolved.
6. ^ This...so true is this... lol Well, since Thursday has the most request, it shall be Thursday at 8:30pm. I can't wait to see everyone there. =D
7. First, welcome to the game As for quicksand, it is in the city of Ul'ah by the gate of Nald. There will be a fountain and two set of stairs flanking it that lead you up. Entrance most people use.
8. Hey Brent! I was new myself to the game a few months back and remember how seemingly tough finding rp can feel. But I promise there is still a ton of rp going on in Balmung, especially Ul'dah. If you're interested, I've been running an rp event called Saga of the Wind Swept Sands. It's almost over but if you wanted to come to the last one , it would give you a chance to meet some awesome rpers, like Osric or Haeden here, who managed to trick me onto vent last night, made me lose track of time cause I was laughing to much, and leaving me to work a 12 hour shift with only 5 hours of sleep. Lol. If you want, I'm always up for rp if you send me a tell in game.
9. Hah she's happy to do what she can, just holler! I'm holding you too that! lol Osric, you have noooooo idea how much juggling was going on.... lol I agree, this stopped being my event a long time ago. Everyone made this event happen and was awesome because of it. =D
10. It is with both excitement, and a degree of sadness, I announce the final episode in the "Saga of the Wind Swept Sands" "Game of Trials" The trial will take place in the Chamber of Rule, with everyone gathering to decide what is to be done with the bomb...well..the parts people didn't take lol...and Askier himself. This event will be primarily rp, with the outcomes decided by IC choices and a vote. At the moment, the event it scheduled to take place Wednesday, May 14th, at 8:30 but if Thursday works better for more people again, I see no reason not to shift it. =D As mentioned, this will be the final episode of this arc. I'm thrilled to read that everyone has had so much fun with this and I would be more than willing to try and work with anyone to set up another event similar to this one. I look forward to seeing everyone in-game again and hope this last event wraps up everything the way a final episode should =D
11. We'll I have work all day today but I'll set up for the last episode next week tonight. Good thing I can go to work and get so much done today. Nothing will distract. . . Logs. . . Two logs full of rp goodness. I.... I... I am getting nothing accomplished at work today. Thanks Kahn'a and Osric. Lol. Seriously I can't wait to read them. Also, Daphine, eventually you need to fix Askier's eye. I'm afraid if we don't, I will forever forget how to rp with two good eyes. Lol.
12. Thanks for coming, Reiichi! Thanks to you, Natalie, and Zularti for playing our mercenary villains! You guys are great. RNG not so much! Thank you for reminding me that I hate dice rolls and RNG. ((*hisses at Delial but grins not-drunkenly-for-foiling-that* Haven't you figured out that it's a Kagetastrophe when you count on him for certain things? >.> <.<) It was pretty interesting and fun! Thank you. :3 Even if this is part of the saga in which Kage-the-lalafellin-Sultansworn-just-can't-catch-a-break. It's time for the next plot that spawned from this. *hisses again* *hisssssss!* So much hissing from non-miqo'te :bouncy:
13. It's over! The heroes have saved Ul'dah and Askier is locked inside a room with his sister, Saravena Ancariis, who did not die (and is now played by the very talented Raven Gorehand), but nearly did due to complications after a plot twist followed by another plot twist that interrupted another plot that caused Delia's plan to fail that countered ... you know what...It was a big old tumble of confusion that somehow managed to work itself out and was a ton of fun. Everyone made it work out alright. I want to thank everyone for coming out and making this, hands down, the best rp experience I've ever had the pleasure of leading or being part of. I'm considering having an in game trial for Askier next week, for one last event to wrap this all up since I know there are some who want Askier dead, and I'll post, or if someone else would be so kind, to post a summary and recap, for everyone to catch up on and then get to working out finer details ((I would but I gotta sleep....lol)) I can't wait to rp with you all again soon. Also, I has an alt, name is Jin'li.... just in case anyone was wondering who he was and why he kept popping in. Night!
14. Okay folks, tonight is the night! If you are able, we are going to start gathering everyone into groups around 8 and we will be starting at 8:30. Those interested in hunting down Askier inside the city should meet in Ul'dah outside "The Quicksand". Kanaria will be leading this group. Those wanting to join Kahn'a's effort to rescue Askier's sister should meet at Cerelium Processing Plant in Northern Thanalan. Tins cans, please also meet at Cerelium Processing Plant and we will then show you where to go. =D For those outside Ul'dah, Kahn'a will be running that part of the event since Askier will be inside the city. If he asks you to do something, please do so. =D Kanaria will be managing the heroes via Ul'dah. Any spies still wishing to join Askier, you will join me inside Ul'dah to protect his precious device. If you have questions, please feel free to send a tell and I cant wait to see how this all plays out. I hope we all have a ton of fun.
15. ^This. I'll try to be on to help. Should I craft my own set? Glad to have you on board for tonight. I have an extra set of armor if you need =D Osric bought them. I'll be on so shoot me or Kahn'a a tell in game. =D
16. Was good to rp with you again, Valirelia! I'm sorry you can't make it tomorrow but I'm only a tell away if you get a chance to rp =D
17. Updated after much plotting and planning...)) Sooooooo, due to rp developments that occurred at 3 in the morning for me (need caffeine……) Thursday’s event has taken an interesting twist, but one i am ready for now thanks to much brainstorming with my fellow rpers (Delial, you were especially helpful. =D After being encouraged by several people to meet with Kahn’a and Osric, Askier let them convince him to call a sort of truce. The bomb has not been deactivated, but Askier has agreed to do so if, and only if, the heroes can rescue his sister. The idea is: Askier will send a note to his superior, asking to see his sister one more time before the bomb goes kaboom. If Askier's superior agrees, (he is going to agree btw), Askier tells Osric where and when. Askier will stay behind with his bomb but will give whoever Osric sends a link pearl. If the team is successful in saving her and Askier hears her voice, he will deactivate the device. If he does not, he will not stop it. Okay, that’s different. So what does this mean for our event? Well, it means things get rather interesting The plan, though, is that Thursday, so long as Osric or Kahn’a or myself can find some willing punching bags, I mean volunteers, to act as guards for Askier’s sister, there will be two groups. Group 1 will attempt to sneak Askier’s sister out. Violence will occur. Though will the heroes manage to rescue her in time or only find a corpse remains to be seen... Group 2 will still need to find Askier and keep an eye on him. If anything goes wrong with Group 1’s operation, Askier is going to detonate the device early and will need to be restrained from doing so. Let's hope for Ul'dah Group 1 finds nothing bad once they arrive.... The heroes have met, the plan is in motion, Askier's letter has been sent, and the Garlean puppet master who has been watching it all has one last move to make...
18. Sorry you can't make Thursday. We still need to rp though sometime! lol
19. "The Sage of the Wind Swept Sands" Episode 4 "How I Learned to Love the Bomb." Coming May 8th, 2014 8:30 CDT This Thursday night will be Episode 4 and, by the sounds of it, should be an excellent turn out! But what are the rules? For the heroes, you will all meet somewhere....Kahn'a, need a location here... =p lol. Once the heroes are gathered, they will head out, trying to find Askier inside the city. Seriously, we are going to play "Where's Askier?". Once Askier is found, and yes, he will be by his bomb, rp will take over. What happens from there is in the hands of the heroes. Askier, and any spies who still wish to go down with him, will defend it as long as they are able. Once Askier and the spies are removed, through either rp or fighting, the bomb must be disarmed? But how? Well getting the information from Askier is one way. Trying to decipher Askier's charts and blueprints could be another. Or, if anyone knows magitek, they can try to disassemble the device. But how will the deciphering and disassembling work as a little puzzle? I am going to have 5 sequences of numbers, (akin to the ACT type) with a missing number. Figureing out the number, indicates which part to remove. Example 1 ,2, 4, 8, _ Once you have all the part numbers, the heroes will have successfully have disarmed the bomb. What if the wrong part is guessed or the timer expires? First off, about the timer...we going with the James Bond, 7 seconds before detonation save...no matter how long it takes irl lol As for second part, wrong sequence of numbers? Well the heroes have to win here sooo, make sure you're right.
20. Every good ending needs an evil villain trailer! Here is ours...with words! Stop this Askier. The voice came pleading, begging, echoing in Askier's head. "No." Askier slurred aloud, his tongue and lips numb from the whiskey coursing through his veins. Is this what you sister would want? The voice's reply was pleading, soft, gentle, just like his sister's voice. "This is the only way to save her." Askier growled, the vision in his eye sharpening as he blinked, his eyebrows angling down into an angry scowl. Do you think she will even want to see her brother after you do this? The voice's reply was harsh, declaring, scolding. "I'll be dead, so it wont matter. Shut up." Askier hissed, bringing the bottle in his right hand to his lips and consuming a mouthful of the warm liquor within. Do you? Askier said nothing as he swallowed. Do you? Do you? "I said shut up! "Askier rose to his feet, screaming as he threw the bottle across the room. The glass shattered into a thousand, reflective pieces that showered down upon the ground, whiskey dancing among the razor-like edges. Askier was panting as he gazed around. "She will be alive and that's all that matters!" Askier roared at the voice he had been hearing, a voice only heard inside his head, mimicking his sister's voice. The voice of his nearly drowned conscience. And what of those in Ul'dah who die?" "Like Delial said: 'The world may burn for those we love!'" Askier retorted violently, spinning around and looking at the thing before him. His bomb. The bomb was a large, brass creation. The base of the bomb was five feet in diameter and was a perfect circle. The base was three feet thick and covered in spinning gears and slowly ticking counters. Numerous vials of various liquids rose and fell with each passing moment. Protruding from the base at a ninety degree angle was a thick pedestal. Atop the foot tall pedestal was a complexly attached set of nine rings, each slightly smaller than the one before it it, with the largest being nearly four feet in diameter. These nine rings were spinning rapidly and waves of light were flashing out from a spinning ball of arcane energy that formed the heart of the whirling rings. Each ring was whistling a note as it cut through the air and, together, the nine rings played a soft melody that repeated every six seconds. At the completion of a six second interval, a wave of warm air would gust out and tickle Askier's face, followed by a flash of brilliant light of a random color. It was as beautiful as it was deadly. The device was slowly drawing arcane energy into itself, increasing its payload each six seconds. The longer the device spun, the more powerful the blast would become. Askier had toyed with this design of explosive before but had never liked them for one fact: they took time to gather their power. Askier wished he had chosen a more conventional type of magitek bomb to build but reminded himself why he hadn't. This kind of bomb was virtually unstoppable. If the rings were stopped from spinning, for even a moment, by force, the energy inside would release prematurely. The only way to deactivate the explosive was to disassemble it in a precise and exact way, since Askier had not designed an off switch into the design. Askier grinned, thinking back on Erik's extravagant ball and the information Siha had let slip that night: "I don't think anyone in Ul'dah knows much about magitek." she had said so sweetly. Askier smirked darkly as another wave of warmth rushed out from his device, tussling his hair and tickling his bare torso. In the dancing light, the massive collection of cuts and scars that seemed to almost form a tapestry of pain across the left side of his body shimmered in a nightmare rhythm His one good eye was wide in mirth as the device spun. "Soon it will all be over!" Askier gloated darkly. "You certainly are a charming merchant, mister." Siha's voice sounded behind Askier and he whirled around. But there was no one there. Askier blinked in confusion "I count you as a dear friend. It is a shame we must be on different sides." Another voice this time. Strong and kind. Erik Mynhier. Askier spun again, pulling out a knife from the belt around his waist and throwing it. The blade encounter nothing but empty air and hard stone. Erik had never been there. Askier snarled and flicked his ears. What sounded like footsteps filled his head and he looked at the entrance way to the room. His teeth flashed as his face contorted into a sinister expression. "Found me, have you?" Askier snarled and turned towards his bomb. His coat lay at the base of the killing machine and Askier strode for it. "You are a fool!" came an all-to-familiar voice, and there was a look of pain as Askier walked forward. "And you are a traitor, Hound!" Askier replied aloud, his eye dancing around. Again, nothing but light and shadows. "Let me help you." came a calm, reassuring voice. Kanaria's words. "I have to do this alone. No one else should take the burden." Askier muttered, nearing his coat. "You'll have my dirt sandwich to keep you company!" Askier spun, expecting an attack to his spine as Osric's voice filled his head. But there was no one there, no smiling pugilist for Askier to break physically. Askier's body started to shake, his nerves pressing down on him as his exhausted brain tried to make sense of what was happening to him. Askier rubbed the palm of his left hand across his bandaged face before touching his left eye, the one covered in a leather patch to hide the red and bloody pupil behind it. "Damn that summoner and her book! My eye-" Askier snarled, turning to grab his coat. But another voice cut him off. "You have the eyes of a demon, Askier." Kahn'a's voice. Askier stood utterly still as his head twitched rapidly and his eye widened. A horrible grin parted his lips. The miqo'te threw back his head and laughed, a horrible, broken sound as his dry throat forced the sound through it. "A demon?" Askier cackled, leaning over and seizing his coat. He slid one arm into a sleeve and then the other as he whirled to face where he imagined he heard approaching footfalls. He spread his arms wide, as if to embrace a welcome friend. "No Kahn'a, I am more than a demon. Much more!" the light from his bomb back-lite him and his teeth flashed amongst the shadows of his face as he shouted triumphantly. "With this device, I am become Bahamut, destroyer of Eorzea! And I have set my sights upon Ul'dah! Face me now champions of Ul'dah, and face your own destruction!" "The Sage of the Wind Swept Sands" Episode 4 "How I Learned to Love the Bomb." Coming May 8th, 2014 8:30 CDT
21. Certainly. I'm out of town at my and using phone but I'll make a big old formal post when I get back. For now though, it was planned for this Wednesday. Though I'm thinking of pushing the start time back to 8:30 to give more time to make it since last time we had several people arrive a little after 8. Anyone think 8:30 is to late? As for changing to Thursday, I'd have the night off but I don't know about everyones schedule. I'd certainly like as many to make it as possible Would anyone have a conflict if we did Thursday to accommodate Jana and Siha?
22. Sorry you have to miss it. askier may have to encounter Jana in the Ul'dah streets then. . .
23. Maybe next week, we heroes will finally grow a collective brain stem and kill the gods-damned oversized dodo first. But chocobos... How can you even envision hurting one? CRIMINAL, I say! Ul'dah law clearly states that killing a chocobo named Drumstick is Actually a worse criminal activity than destroying the city. Lol. Besides, Osric will be too busy enjoying another delicious dirt sandwhich to harm the bird. Lol
