While I'm awaiting my money to come in so I can get back into the game I've been reading threads here to garner as much info as I can. I will be transfering my character Aria Surin to Balmung when I am able to play the game, but I'm more than likely going to give her a name and race change to the Au Ra race, though depending on how well I remember how to play the classes I may just make a new character idk yet. I posted a few threads where I received quite a bit of info on some of the issues I was having so I was wanting to know a few more things. 1: I know to be a SMN you have to be present at the death of the given Primal, how often are Primals summoned and killed? Is it a Rare thing that would be huge news or something where when someone finds out about it they are all "Oh that again meh"? 2: Is it possible that pieces of Bahamut from the Battle of Cartaneu(spelling?) could have landed far enough around the Auri homeland? Or do I have to travel to the site and mine up some crystal to explain why my character can channel this primal?(If I decided to go that route, I doubt I will, I just don't want to be in an RP dungeon and not be able to use one of SMN's best skills). 3: Since Au Ra are half dragon/decendant from dragons is it possible they'd have a greater affinity towards Bahamut since he was prayed into being by the dragons 5000+ years ago(I think?), and they'd be able to hear him through the aether/crystals that surround Cartaneu? 4: Although I'll probably not RP with pet out and I'll probably stick to less exotic "Job Skills" like the generic Mercenary/Apothocary/Caster/Soldier/Knight/Bodyguard/thief archtype. Can someone still find Soulstones still in ruins or has enough time passed that they'd be all searched out? Reason for asking I'm going to figure out a way to explain how my character is able to summon an Egi through hard work, but from what I remember that knowledge is only obtainable through the SMN soulstone. 5: Would an Aggressive beast tribe that is connected to Ifrit, Titan or Garuda have any residual parts of said Primals laying around like a shrine after the defeat of these Primals by the WoL/Various other defeats? That she could possibly steal/come into contact with that would wash her in the Primal's Essence that she wants to summon without being tempered? 6: I know the Echo is rare, and it's probably frowned on if my snowflake has it, but how would your character find out she/he has it? 7: Since I'm not up to date on the story as I try to avoid as much spoilers I can about quests, Dark Knights and Astrologists how are they viewed in the RP community? Are they just like WHM/BLM/SMN/SCH where I have to come up with some extremely difficult explanation on how my character was able to use a certain ability during RP dungeons, or are they common enough that I'm not going to alienate the community by being one as a Profession? 8: I know that Heavensward is focused on Isgard and Dragons, but without to many spoilers what's the conflict with the Empire at these days? 9: What's the current timeline in game 5 or 7 years after Dalamund fell? Character Idea: Obviously it's going to be an Au Ra, leaning more towards a Raen, probably came with Yuigri's(spelling?) group, or a Xaela(?) if Raen wouldn't have been in her group. She's quiet, a little shy, comes off as cold. Always looks like she's daydreaming(?) She's loyal to her friends and wears her heart on her sleeve. She's focused in battle. She's smart(I like to think I'm smart ). Her flaws are: She's to trusting, a bit naive, not confidant around people. maybe some other flaws will appear as I iron out details. Sometimes has panic attacks when overwhelmed. Likes: Sweets, Juice, Whatever the game equivalent to Scotch/Brandy would be. Fascinated with the stars and Arcanium(?). Dislikes: Rude and Cruel people, public speaking, or anything putting her in the spotlight. Name: Can't say till I make her, don't want it taken ^_- Age: 24-27ish Sexual Orientation: Lesbian Relationship Status: Single Family: ((WIP)) Backstory: ((WIP)) at least till I can get in game and get up to speed on the race's location, jobs and general mannerisms. Any other tips or advice would be much appreciated. Also if it's a dumb idea for a character let me know cause I don't want to try and RP with a character that would be shunned in the various groups around Balmung.

I love romantic RP, actually met my wife on ffxi and while she thought we were roleplaying I was actually just flirting with her and after 4 years we finally met in person and been together for 9 years now. With that said while I love romance in RP since I play mostly female characters I'm hard pressed to find another female that's okay with roleplaying a romance with a guy that plays female characters. I guess that means I should play male characters if I want a good romance arc, but alas I don't like how the male characters in this game look in armor.

Is your character open for killing/death? What about injury?
Juromaro replied to LadyRochester's topic in RP Discussion
I try to avoid RP where my character can die in these types of games, it was fine with D&D since I could just tear up my character sheet, but here I don't like the idea of not being able to play a character that I put months sometimes years into. However I'm all for injury, I'm perfectly okay with putting a character in the hospital for a month or two as long as I have another RP character to fill the void until the other returns. With that said the reason I don't do death RP anymore is I joined an FC on Gilgamesh when I first started that I didn't know what Heavy RP and I joined an event where we were doing some RP fates and when my character died and I respawned and came back they all freaked out and kicked me out of the FC when I asked what happened they told me I was dead and there was no way I could be walking around like nothing happened. To be honest it kinda hurt RP for me for awhile and I just went about leveling everything I could to 50 and focusing more on the pve aspect than my character. -
I haven't RP'd with my character nor played her since 2.2/3ish so instead of jumping back in where I left off I'm going to make a new character and when I relearn how to play the classes I had gotten to 50 and geared I'll be working on my new character's backstory while I rethink how I want my old main's to go. For now though my old main will be my crafting vending machine to save me gil(saved up all I could for an FC house but it was deleted about a month ago so I have to regain all my gil I put into it lol)
-
Well that's kind of disheartening, I'm from Gilgamesh and planning on coming back I was hoping Gilga still had an RP community, looks like I'm going to transfer my main and a few alts to Balmung when I can get back on the game.

Welcome back I'm a returning player as well(or rather I will be as soon as I pick up a ps4.

Thank you very much Sounsyy , I've still got quite a bit of time to flesh out details so rest assured I'll be obsessing over those links for the next few weeks <3 P.S: I've noticed when it comes to anything lore you are almost always the go to person for answers lol should rename this thread "Ask Sounsyy Lore questions"

I'm working on a new character story for my eventual return to Eorzea and I was curious about a few things. A little background first though, I left sometime either in 2.1 or 2.3(can't really remember) Ninja job patch was months away and I had just gotten to the Coil part of the story around turn 2 or 3 I think. So anyway I'm extremely out of date on the story from that point on. The Character I'm wanting to make is an Au Ra female, I haven't decided between a Raen or Xaela yet as I want to play around with the character creator before I do, but then problem is I know absolutely nothing about them and the wiki doesn't have very much info other than the general description and most threads I find on the subject aren't very informative either. So here are my questions. 1: Where can I find lore on the Au Ra? 2: I know now that BLM isn't a viable RP since I'm far from experienced enough to pull it off, but what about SMN? 3: What would be an acceptable timeline to use to explain an Au Ra character knowing certain aspects about an area I.E: Character was in seclusion somewhere near Gridania? 4: What elements would be a fitting affinity for said Au Ra? 5: Do the Au Ra worship any of the Guardians like Rhalgr? If so which one/ones would be a better match for the affinity? Sorry for the wall of text and the noobish questions ><

...When you create a bunch of characters to add to your character story and spend months working on a backstory only to never RP cause you get to nervous.
-
I think I'm going to do that when I can play.
-
8-) Thank you for the reply, I played on Gilgamesh and joined a few linkshells but was unsure how the server progressed while I was away. With the new expansion out I was wondering if I was going to have to pay for a character transfer to Balmung, but with all I've been reading(trying to catch up on things before my money comes in) Balmung is pretty much locked 24/7 so I won't be able to make an Au Ra. I had to leave before Ninja came out but was eagerly waiting for it, and after watching some videos about Astro I think I might actually start to heal outside of Fates(if Fates are still thing).

--MMORPG background: FFXI-Carbuncle World of Warcraft: Deathwing, Moonguard, Bleeding Hollow, Tanaris, Wyrmcrest Accord The Old Republic: Lord Adraas then merged into Ebon Hawk SWG: Bria Cabal Online: Private Servers Tera: Celestial Hills Rift: Faeblight Perfect World: Oracle Aion: Can't remember --RP experience: I have a little experience in roleplay, nothing major. I've been on roleplay servers since Rift release and only play RP servers. My RP style is more of an observer until I get to know the people I RP around/with. --Character ideas/info: Aria Surin is/was my main, I haven't decided if I'm going to continue with her or try one of the new races. I still don't know much about Eorzea lore so if and when you see me please let me know if I'm breaking 4th wall or not. --How did you learn about the coalition?: I joined it back sometime in 04, wasn't sure if it would be okay to necro my old welcome desk thread. --What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy?: I'm considered a casual roleplayer, but I would love nothing more than to dive into even more active roleplaying. I like to RP while doing dungeons and raids, even tried RP pvp until I got flamed and trolled by non roleplayers(cross server pvp sucks ><. Most of my character stories tend to always have something dark about them, not sure why. I'm pretty sure people think my characters lean towards mary sue styles but those that I RP with that let me know what I'm doing wrong helps me fix my character, others just stop roleplaying with me all together so I'm largely unaware I'm doing something wrong. --Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing?: Well I'm still jobless, though it's recent so I decided I was going to get my degree in Computer Network Administrator/Computer Science. I'm still married with 2 kids though they are old enough now that I can play a game for more than 30 mins. My internet is a janky 2 meg DSL service and if anyone other than me is on while I am I lag like no other, all that means is it'll take me a second to respond and I probably shouldn't be a tank or healer lol. I tend to play female characters and they are largely lesbian or "taken" by one of my other characters. I welcome story romances as long as they don't get weird, I like to keep game relationships in game. I'm alright with being friends with people outside of the game through facebook or whatever it is kids use these days. Since I play mostly on console when it comes to FF mmo I don't use voice chat services like mumble. I'm a raider, pvp'er, fledgling roleplayer, crafter. I tend to do most everything a game has to offer. I no longer hardcore raid, but if raid day falls on the days I have off then I always try to attend. I don't use voice chat because I'm not comfortable with my voice so when I raid all that needs to be done is typed out how to do the fight if I don't already know it. before I raid I study videos and read up on mechanics so people don't have to explain anything to me and I know the fight for whatever role I'm doing. I quit playing FF14 back last year or 2014 can't remember so I have alot to catch up with. I won't be in game yet as I'm using my refund to buy a ps4 and see if I can switch my ps3 account to the ps4. I tend to play mostly DPS with heavy focus in BLM jobs. My main Aria's lodestone is here: http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/character/6865585/ I'll probably either be looking for a Free Company or staying in mine but start recruiting idk yet, most likely I'll be seeking employment with another Company. If I left anything out please let me know, or any questions I'll be happy to answer . I do have a few questions though: 1: Is Gilgamesh still an RP server and still active? 2: Since I haven't played in a long time( I think I had to quit back in 2.1?) any advice/tips for playing Ninja and the new jobs? 3: Which server has a more accepting community between Bal/Gilga?

I. Basic Info Characters:Aria Surin, Juro Maro Primary character:Aria Surin Linkshells:None at the moment Primary RP linkshell:None at the moment II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Casual to Medium depending on my mood. I'm more of an observer roleplayer. I'll jump in if the situation calls for it but mostly I like to sit back and observe. Not an extremly gifted roleplayer like most I observe and sometimes my character backstories are pretty dark which tends to upset people i guess. Views on RP combat and injuries: I'm okay with RP combat and injuries if the game mechanics support it. I.E: if world pvp is a mechanic or duels are an available option. In the terms of Forum RP I'm all for combat, injuries and even death as long as it doesn't tie into the character in the game(would be a little odd if I died in the forum RP but my character is seen walking around Ul'dah) Views on IC romance: I love a good romance. My wife and I met on FFXI and met in person 7 years ago. I like having game romance stories but since I tend to gravitate towards Female characters my characters either have to be lesbian or "taken" by one of my other characters. I tried the whole "pretend I'm a girl playing a girl" thing for awhile and after a few years I felt like I was betraying my friends by lying to them so now I let people know up front that I'm a male with a female character. Which tends to not lead to any in game romances with female characters(I do however tend to get alot of male "friends" until they find out I'm a male >.> Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Aria doesn't have any family to speak of since I haven't quite worked out her story yet, but Juro Maro is married to Athia Maro and their story goes back into FFXI, still trying to figure out how I can work it to where we started on Vana'diel and ended up on Eorzea though I doubt that possible. So in other words I love non-romantic RP as well. Views on lore: I think if a game has established Lore it's better to follow that lore when creating a story but it's okay to deviate as long as it's not widly un-realistic...I.E: A Jedi ending up in Eorzea through Sith Alchemy.....but I'm okay with a little Lore deviation like a person being from XI and taking a World Porter and winding up on Eorzea....or something like that. I'm not to knowledgible on XIV's story and Lore. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): /say is IC unless (( is used. /party is OOC unless specified /shout is OOC as I find it impossible to hear someone yelling in Ul'dah while I'm on the other side of the map. /linkshell is whatever the linkshell is be it OOC, RP or what have you. /fc is OOC unless specified by pertaining free company III. Greetings all! --MMORPG background: SWTOR FFXI Perfect World Tera Rift Guild Wars 2 WoW Lineage 2 SWG Swtor Cabal Rose Online Many others* --RP experience: Started roleplaying on Rift's Faeblight server after getting tired of the communties on PvE and PvP servers, Joined an RP server and had seen all the community activity and instantly fell in love with it. Been playing RP servers since. --Character ideas/info: Aria Surin is Juro Maro's student, a Paladin sworn to protect Juro's wife Athia. Learning the arts of magic and war from Juro Maro(who is currently away) --How did you learn about the coalition? Typed in FFXIV roleplayer forums on google --What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy? I am a light to medium roleplayer depending on my mood. My wife is new to roleplaying and she's really nervous but willing to give it a try. --Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc)...well I'm jobless, married father of 2, lost my job when I didn't agree with the new general manager about what he "thought" my duties were. My wife has social anxiety disorder and is prone to panic attacks by even talking on the phone(so don't be insulted if she doesn't reply right away) First off I'd like to introduce myself and my wife. My name is John and my characters are Juro Maro and Aria Surin(yes I am a guy that plays female characters), my wife's name is Lisa and her character is Athia Maro. We play on the Gilgamesh server, both formally from FFXI's Carbuncle server. I played from 2004 up till about a month into the Treasures expansion release on ps2, my wife played from 2004 to probably 2005/6. I am leader of the Free Company Tears of Blood which started as a linkshell in 11 back in 05, I then brought it to SWG and WoW's Bleeding Hollow server. I founded and led Heaven's Protectorate during the release of Tera but quickly got bored of the game and left. I founded and led Order of the Vigil on Rift's Faeblight server until the guild was usurped from me by my co-leader during a move to a new town. I was a member of Maverick Hunters in FFXI, founder of Forever Fantasy in FFXI as well. My wife and I decided to give FFXVI a try and I heard that Gilgamesh was the RP server aside from the Legacy Balmug. We're quite active having a blast with the game, though I'm quickly getting bored since it seems no one likes to talk and I've rarely seen any RP(aside from a few in Ul'dah's Adventure Guild). My wife is having blast crafting and since she has social anxiety disorder the silence in chat doesn't affect her. Long winded and whatnots but felt it was time to let my voice be heard on my server and introduce myself. If anyone knows how to get ahold of an OOC or RP chat linkshell well that would be quite swell. /salute, Aria Surin/Juro Maro *edit*: Added the Template completely forgot about it
