The voice I have now for my Keeper Miqo'te is really, really annoying during combat, and I was wondering which voice is most similar to the male Hyur Midlander voice #3 during combat

NO ONE IS ONLINE IN GAME TO REVEL IN MY MOMENT OF GLORY WITH ME I REACHED LEVEL 50 AND I GOT MY DRACHEN ARMOR I'M SO PROUD OF MYSELF BRENNUS IS A BIG BOY NOW ;W; -
Sorry for bumping this thread so much, but this'll be the last post! Just wanted to give an update that I'm all set for dungeon running! Unfortunately, even after running AV again, I'm still not at level 50...but I only have 9080 more exp to go! (You can't fathom how livid I was when I didn't hit 50 after the final boss. It's not really that big of a deal, but I was just so pumped, y'know?) Anyways, big, BIG thanks to Ragnar for running AV with me! And sorry to Silver Mountain that I couldn't run with them, but maybe we can do some endgame stuff (:

There's a new Cool Runnings guy in town. Also made a screenshot edit. Poor lonely Brennus. (Censored the naughty words just in case x:) -
Apologies if this has already been asked, but I'd like to know for myself. Kind of as a side note, I think I'll only ever play as a Dragoon. I'm a horrible tank (like if the tank dies in a dungeon, I just let the aggro fall on the healer/other DPS. It usually results in a wipe. Shame on me) and I don't feel confident that my Healer abilities would be up to par. My attention span and just general ability to pay attention is absolutely mediocre. More often than not, while I'm DPSing, I'll space out a little (or a lot, oops). The only class I've ever seriously played (or actually leveled past level 25) is Dragoon. Even after playing as a DRG for so long, I'm still not very confident in my skills. This is probably because I never did dungeons very often, partly because of the obnoxiously long wait times with DF, and partly because I was, put simply, really really scared at having to deal with other players. I'm always nagged by the thoughts of, "What if I mess up? What if I do something wrong? What if I get yelled at?" Because God knows my absolute least favorite thing is being yelled at. A few times while I was running Cutter's Cry, the tank complimented our group saying it they don't often run with a group this good. Whether they were complimenting the healer, or the other DPS, or the group as a whole, it was a huge ego boost. My method in dungeons is: if the tank marks mobs, attack mobs in order. If he doesn't, target tank and select their target. But if they're a tank that hops targets a lot, it doesn't really work as well... There was actually one instance when I did the Daily Roulette. I got a PLD group in Copperbell Mines. The tank was marking mobs, but I kept drawing aggro. Like, every single time. I was attacking the mobs in order (1, 2, 3, etc.) so I began to wonder if I was attacking the wrong mob, but no one was saying anything, so I just let it be. I really wanted to ask him if I was indeed DPSing the wrong mob, but I couldn't work up the courage. When it comes to me learning new things, more often than not it entails a lot of hand-holding (like I mentioned before, my confidence is totally subpar). If I'm being completely honest, I mostly just want to avoid messing up and getting scolded. (This kind of turned into a story of my life kinda thing...this whole post kind of feels like a mess) TL;DR What do I do to be a good Dragoon? is the main question. What do I do if the tank doesn't mark mobs? Am I supposed to know from the get-go the order the mobs are supposed to be killed in?
-
So, if you had to chose between having a good tank and a bad healer, or a bad tank and a good healer, which would you choose? Personally, I'd choose a good tank. Maybe that's the obvious choice, but maybe not.

Ahh, that'd be great, but I was sorta thinking like. Right now. Or sometime tonight I guess (or this morning I guess it's almost 2:30 am laughs weakly). I guess I probably should've mentioned that. I'm also guessing that probably isn't going to work for you. Or does it? Because if it does, that'd be totally sweet.

This is actually one of the first things I came up with when making Brennus's character. Put simply, Brennus is afraid of women. He grew up in an extremely isolated environment, which is to say, smack dab in the middle of nowhere (think somewhere in Coerthas, (probably) the outskirts of Ishgard). The only other living being he had around (that wouldn't try to eat/maim him) was an elderly Elezen Duskwight who fostered him when he was a wee infant. From what Brennus can remember of his childhood (and that is very, very little) the Elezen didn't talk much. In fact, he can't remember a time when the Elezen spoke more than a sentence at a time. As a result, Brennus was more often than not left to his own devices. It wasn't until he was ten that he finally got some interaction with actual people. A few months after the Elezen died, leaving Brennus on his own in their little cabin in the woods (I hate using that term, stupid horror movies), a Dragoon passing through the area happened upon his hut and offered to welcome Brennus into his family of two, including himself. Brennus was never taught the ins and outs of "Stranger Danger," so he agreed quite readily. Even after he began living with his new adoptive father and his butler, Brennus still kept interaction with other people very limited. I would go as far as to say that both genders make him pretty uncomfortable, though that's more of an "I don't know you" kinda thing than genders really (I digressed really badly here oops). He definitely feels more comfortable around males than females, simply because that's what he grew up around. Although he certainly had female Dragoon comrades, they knew well enough to keep their distance. Being around women in general makes Brennus flustered enough, but when they're trying to come on to him, it doesn't make for a pretty picture. (This is quoted directly from Brennus's wiki page) His first "official" confrontation with more than one woman at a time (and when he wasn't hiding behind his adoptive father) was when he was 18. His fellow Dragoons took him to a pub to celebrate his promotion to Dragoon. He doesn't remember much of the encounter, but it seems some Courtesans had take a liking to him. In his effort to avoid them, he managed to knock over two tables, elbow one unfortunate Miqo'te in the nose, and trip over three chairs before landing face-first in a Roegadyn woman's bosom. As the poor boy was terribly flustered and hopelessly drunk, she let him off easy with one black eye, a broken nose, and a horribly, horribly bruised ego. Brennus wouldn't talk to his comrades for days afterward. [1] The effect of the pretty Roegadyn's ass-whooping (well, maybe it wasn't quite that harsh) still lingers to this day. Everytime he encounters a woman, he suddenly becomes extremely tense and twitchy, whether or not they're being kind to him. He'll definitely warm to them more quickly if they are in fact nice to him, but he always makes sure that there's at least 10 feet between him and the unfortunate woman/women. While Brennus by no means intends to convey any disrespect towards women (in fact, he holds quite a bit of respect for them), the fact that they make him uncomfortable as all hell makes him avoid them like the plague (well, he tries, at least). To give him credit, over the years of his adventuring, he's grown to become more used to women. (WOW that was long for just women. Now it's the boys' turn) Brennus definitely feels much, much more comfortable around men. Neither I nor him know the reason exactly, but it's most likely due to the fact that he was raised by men all his life, and a big chunk of his Dragoon comrades were men. (Trivia Time: Brennus was originally planned to be a panromantic asexual, but then it hit me that it's hard to be panromantic when you're afraid of women. In the end, he ended up becoming a homoromantic asexual.) Due to his severe lack of communication and interaction with people, Brennus is a really, really awkward guy. It's exceptionally difficult for him to pick up on social cues, so if some poor sap decides to pick Brennus as his target, well, all I can tell the guy is good luck. Brennus is also what one would call "brutally honest." He doesn't do it on purpose, but he was never taught the haphazard art of subtlety. He's sent a number of men fleeing with their tails between their legs without having a single clue why. It's a shame, really, because a few of them were rather handsome. That's all I got for now. This was more of a "how Brennus feels around x gender" rather than "how Brennus treats x gender," and I think I completely missed the main question, but it was rather insightful for me regarding Brennus's personality, so, eh, what can ya do. I might edit this post a little if I think of a better way to convey his treatment of the sexes.

Calling all techies (or, "I need a new computer.")

So I talked to my mom and she insisted the budget be $500. For now, I guess that's the highest it'll be. Were it my birthday, I probably could've gotten away with the higher budget, but that day has already come and gone (it was two weeks ago...two weeks). If I haggle a little and step up my chore game, I can probably russle up another two hundred or so within a month because I have way too much free time on my hands and absolutely nothing to do. @Aurora So, assuming that the budget is $500-$700, do you think your fiance could come up with a shopping list for me? -

Well, to be fair I tried very hard to not say that directly. It tends to cause flame wars. I just wanted to explain that it wouldn't be the most 'efficient' use of a laptop. Obviously a throttled back i5 quad is going to out-perform an overclocked core-2 duo. Yeah, I probably should've worded that better, sorry. Hmm, well, I suppose I could try building my own. It might not be a good idea, considering I have absolutely zero experience with such things, but if it yields the best results, I could give it a try. If someone is willing to help me out, I'd appreciate it. Of course, they'd probably be walking me through the whole thing, so. Now that I think about it, it really comes down to whether or not my mom will actually agree to letting me get new...computer-stuffs. I'm only 16 and jobless, so getting something this expensive is gonna be hard. I guess if she says no this whole thread is basically pointless haha...actually, it would've been a good idea to talk to her before I made this thread...oops. Well, it was enlightening nonetheless. I'll talk to her and see what she says. -

Oh boy, all this computer lingo is making my head spin @_@ (I feel old using the word "lingo..."). So, basically... Replace hard disk with an SSD (Crucial MX100 possibly?) Beefiest GPU and Intel CPU I can find At least 6-8 GB of RAM Never use Intel HD Graphics for video playback Don't use laptops for gaming Did I get all that, or is there anything I missed? @_@ In regards to Coatleque's comment on never using laptops for gaming, the only reason I'm using my laptop is because my desktop sucks (I inherited it from my mom in 2009). My mom also bought this laptop for me for Christmas, so I didn't really have a say in what kinds of hardware it got. Anyways, is what I listed above basically it, or are there additional things I should take care of? -

Guys I'm one level away from fifty this is really really exciting for me will someone run a/some dungeon(s) with me?? My main character, Brennus, is a level and a half away from 50. I'm kind of really excited about it because this is my first time leveling a character to 50 in any class/job. I was thinking I could run some dungeons with some people since I'm not really eager to grind leves. I was thinking either Cutter's Cry, Stone Vigil, or maybe The Aurum Vale (preferably one of the former two...). If you'd like to join me, reply to this thread or send me a Tell in-game at Brennus Ackerman (or Nishiki Nishio, a character I just created and am currently playing. I'll log on to Brennus if you happen to message me) on the Balmung server. PS: I've never done Aurum Vale before, so please bear with me. PSS: I'm a Dragoon DPS.

Thanks so much to FreelanceWizard for helping me on the run! I've been a stalemate in FFXIV for about two or three weeks now. The problem is, as mentioned in the title, "the winged she-devil," aka Garuda. I've tried so, so many times to beat her and every single time, I would get to the very beginning of the second phase until eventually my group wipes so many times we just call it quits. I'm not in a FC, nor do I have any friends I could ask for help, so it's always been a pick-up group I've been running with. Clearly that hasn't been working, so I come to you guys for help. Although I've run her trial numerous times, I'm still a bit clunky with my movements and attacks so please bear with me. I'm also not in a very ideal place to play with a mouse and keyboard (currently, I'm lying in bed with my laptop using a hard-cover notebook as a mouse pad). If you'd like/are willing to help, you can either reply to this thread or send me a Tell in-game. I'm Brennus Ackerman, Dragoon/DPS, on the Balmung server.

Whoa, thanks for the replies everyone! If I'm being honest, I'm actually a little more confused than I was in the beginning, but I definitely feel enlightened now ahaha...plus, my question was answered so. (Thanks Sounsyy!) I guess the timeline has to be pretty flexible to fit everyone's RPing, so I'll just pass it off as one of the lesser aspects. Thanks again for all your help!

I'm trying to determine the year in which my character was born, so am I correct in assuming that the current year in ARR is 1577?
