  1. Fill this out I somehow managed to miss the word "Recruitment" in big gold letters at the top of the page. :? Application has been filled out.
  2. So I was wondering how people apply to join the FC? I didn't see any application set up on the website. I've been on FFXIV since the open beta, and am a veteran RPer from all the way back to EverCrack. Did a lot of RP setup and stories for a Romance of the Three Kingdoms (2nd/3rd century China) message board themed game, as well as RP on FFXIV as well.
  3. Earlier this month, the Free Company I'm with, Phoenix Rose, participated in an RP event I put together. Below is a link to the written out RP (in story form) that I did based on the events of the RP storyline. Part 1 and Part 2 are from the event. The last part, R'tashana Hhaig's Story, fits in to the main storyline, but it was not in-game. I wrote that separate. If anyone cares, Wauter Tanner and Edward Reynolds were played by me on my alt Victor Stagnetti, as well as R'tashana Hhaig (my main). Enjoy! Flesh + Blood: Phoenix Rose RP Story PS: "Flesh + Blood" is also a really good fantasy movie starring Rutger Hauer and Jennifer Jason Leigh
  4. Are you guys still active? I'm working on a storyline that could make use of your FC. Aside from a few key things that need to be revealed and/or done, I have no problem leaving the bulk of the RP up to the people participating. Shoot me a PM and I will get you the details of what's going on. Thanks!
  5. Brief setup: Tashana is a recently freed slave who resides at the Phoenix Rose. This is something that happened to her on Starlight Celebration Eve. Twas Starlight Celebration Eve, when all through the Rose Not a creature was stirring, not even the crows Tashana’s yukata was hung in her closet with care Her regular clothes in the dresser, so Tashana was bare! The rest of the residents were all snug in their beds While visions of freedom danced in their heads And Vaughn in his ‘kerchief and Jaques in his cap Had just settled their brains for a long winter’s nap When outside her window there arose such a clatter She sprang out of bed to see what was the matter She threw open the window with style and flair Then realized she was naked, so found something to wear The moon shone down on the new fallen snows It covered everything, even the chocobos When what to her wondering eyes should appear But a stranger on the lawn, and she started to fear But when she looked a bit closer, she formed an idea “It’s Starlight Celebration Eve, so this is the Saint of Nymeia!” In a sled pulled by coeurls, those beautiful cats He called out their names and they took off like bats “Now Morris! Now Toonces! Now Scratchy and Lion-O! On Sylvester! On Azrael! On Garfield and Figaro! To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall! Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!” So up to the top of the Phoenix Rose did they fly With a sled full of gifts and that magical guy She rubbed her eyes once, not believing what she saw But then she heard on the roof the scratch of each coeurl paw As she drew in her head and was turning around Down the chimney he came with a leap and a bound His skin covered with ashes. Oh what a sight! Tashana first thought he must be a Duskwight A bundle of gifts he had flung on his back And he looked like a peddler just opening his sack His eyes were dark brown, but yet they still twinkled The bell on his cap, with each step it tinkled His mouth had just a small overbite And the beard on his chin was black as midnight A hot roast beef sammich was in his right hand He took a big bite as the room he then scanned He had a thin face but a round little belly That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly He was chubby and plump, a right jolly Elezen If Jaques ate too much, this he could have been! A wink of his eye and a twist of his head Let Tashana know she had nothing to dread He spoke not a word, but went straight to work He took all Vaughn’s stockings, giving Tashana a smirk And laying a finger aside of his nose He walked out the front door of the Phoenix Rose He rushed to the lawn, gave his coeurls a shout They flew to the ground and then turned about He climbed in and left, but as he rode out of sight He called “Happy Starlight Celebration to all! And to all a good night!” Merry Christmas, everyone!
  6. I didn't read through all the replies, so apologies if these points have already been brought up. And also apologies for being a bit long-winded. 1) Don't be afraid to make Obsidian the focal point. If you are creating an RP arc based around her, she has to be the star of the show. 2) Don't come up with a story arc that has the ending set (or even the middle set). When writing fiction it's fine, because you have to have an end (even if it's a "to be continued" end). But with RP, others are involved that might influence the story in a different direction that you never even considered. That's more of a personal preference. 3) Don't be rigid and expect everyone to follow a sequence of events. If you need to have a specific ending, then you need to. But don't have the RP set up so that it seems like everyone is just reading from a script. Let those involved know what the ultimate outcome is so they know in advance and can help direct the story there. 4) If you feel yourself stepping back in the reactive mode and are losing control of the story, remind yourself it's YOUR story and do something unexpected that catches everyone involved off guard. 5) Sometimes a story arc just doesn't work. It's probably no one's fault, it just happens sometimes. If it's not working, throw a wrench into it, maybe invite someone who you think might spice it up. It's possible that it just hasn't juiced out yet, and needs a little more time. Or if needed, wrap it up and come up with a new one. Just make sure you don't decide it's not working before it even had the chance to get off the ground. 6) As you did here, ask for advice or tips once the plot is going. Go with your gut to start with, but if you get lost or need a little tip or nudge, by all means ask. But remember, this is Obsidian's story. Don't let others take over or tell you what to do. Get advice, and then adapt it top the story. Don't change the story to reflect the advice, change the advice to reflect the story. 7) Most importantly, as with most things, have fun with it. Driving a story is different than being a supporting character. Don't get discouraged if it seems like it's not going well. It might be going great, but you just don't see it.
  7. On a message board RP/Strategy game I was on staff for based on Romance of the Three Kingdoms (2nd/3rd century China) we had an NPC account that we used all over for RP or plot advancement purposes. Great idea!
  8. I could easily incorporate a bit of slavery into R'tashana's past. It would actually fit in pretty well with the rest of her life, and could fill in a bit of the blank space that's present. She's a tough nut to crack though. So perhaps bring in Chika Ito or another therapist minded individual could drag a few of the skeletons out of the closet.
  9. Let's just say that tribal life hasn't been the best to her. It might take a bit for her to feel comfortable enough around another Miqo'te to open up to share some of that info, however. She's clueless when it comes to magic. So that might be a huge struggle if you decide to undertake it. The best magic she has been able to perform is "got your nose" and "disconnected thumb."
  10. Maemaere Maere could work. R'tshana doesn't get magic at all, so perhaps Maere could attempt to teach her a little? Yune Tabrisviel could work. Both are uncomfortable around crowds, so it makes sense they would cross paths occasionally. R'tashana won't just open up though to another Miqo'te. Rui Valiir could also work. R'tshana is mostly terrified of Hyuran males. The main unease with Hyuran females is that they might have a male tagging along, so if she were to approach R'tashana alone there probably wouldn't be an issue. With R'tshana not having a lot of interaction with others, it would be interesting to see if she could interpret what Rui is trying to get across.
  11. I'm not really sure how things would go with Tiergan. Both have had tragic pasts, and it appears that both shy away from others. But they also have things in common which would make for interesting RP. It could go either way really. Might be worth a shot to see what happens. Leilani might be interesting. R'tashana wouldn't be nervous about being approached by the Lalafell, and it might be interesting to see if she can get R'tashana to open up a little. She doesn't like talking about her past, and really not much about her present either. Both would make interesting RP. Leilani would be the one who could get close easier, but Tiergan I think would make for more interesting RP. If he can get near the poor girl.
  12. Jaques could be interesting. R'tashana wouldn't be nervous if he approached her, but she wouldn't actively seek to start a conversation. Both appear to be loners, though Jaques not as much as R'tshana. Maybe sometime we can track each other down and and have some interesting convos.
  13. Hi, thanks for the reply. Val Nunh could be interesting. He possesses some of the traits that causes R'tashana to shy away from Miqo'te. But Melfice and Cyrus would not be good. More than likely she would high-tail it out of there. Let me know what time works for you, and we can go from there.
  14. Looking for anyone interested in some RP. R'tashana is an Ul'dahn Miqo'te who has had a not-so-pleasant past, and so is kind of skittish. Details will be slowly revealed through RP. Best bet would be Elezen or Lalafell. Worst case would be Hyuran male or other Miqo'te. Best times are Mon-Fri between 6PM - 11PM US Central Time. See the link below for a basic overview. 15. --MMORPG background-- I've been playing FF: XIV off and on since open beta. I'm what would be referred to as a casual player. I do have a level 38 archer (and low level bard), but I'm not well versed in all the intricacies of the class, or the whole battle system as a whole. I can go 2 weeks with playing every day, or 2 months without playing. I think probably the main reason is because I don't really know anyone who is interested in MMORPGs. It gets boring running around joining random groups. I was an early player of EverCrack. One time I got off work, logged and got in a good group, and the next thing I know, it's time to go to work the next morning. So that was fun. I mainly liked to take my half-elf bard into Neriak and lay waste to the dark elf guards. I can probably still find my way around Qeynos and Freeport, even though I haven't played EQ for years and years (and years). I never could figure out Kelethin, where my character was from. --RP experience-- I did RP a little bit in EverQuest, but not much. I was involved in a Romance of the Three Kingdoms (2nd/3rd century China) online message board game, where I was a staff member and had to RP not only my character, but a multitude of RP characters when it arose. So I had to RP men, women, emperors, guards, children, peasants, etc. I also delved a little bit into D&D, but not that much. --Character ideas/info-- The character I am interested in playing is a female Miqo'te who has had a very rough time in her nineteen years of existence. I've always preferred playing female characters, mainly because if I have to look at a character all the time, it might as well be pleasing to the eyes. And if asked, I always let others know I'm a guy, or if the situation warrants it (like someone thinking these are dating apps). --How did you learn about the coalition? I just googled Final Fantasy XIV roleplay servers, and this was top of the list, so here I am. --What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy? More than likely medium. After reading through Eva's Roleplay Handbook, that is about where I would end up. --Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing? NASCAR fan (go Kyle Larson #42 - my last driver, Jeff Burton, has all but retired). Longtime Dallas Cowboys fan. I'm currently working three jobs, but one is a summer job that is over at the end of the month. I have an associates in web design and graphic design, but my main job only touches on the graphic design degree. And I'm waiting patiently for the zombie apocalypse. Unfortunately, both the Balmung and Gilgamesh servers aren't accepting new characters, so it kind of puts a crimp in the whole RPing thing. Based on what I've read, Balmung sounds like the better fit, even being Legacy. That's about it. Hope I'm able to get on board with one of these servers sometime soon. Add: I play FFXIV mostly on PC with a gamepad, but I do have it on PS4 as well.
