    RP Hotspots

Hah, well yeah those of us who use Limsa regularly will meet in those areas, depending on the scene and who's doin what. Just building awareness for those who are looking for RP in Limsa, these are the areas to check.

    RP Hotspots

The lack of Lominsan RP areas on your list is appalling. Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks : [*](4,7) Anchor Yard : A high outcrop overlooking Galadion Bay and the Astalicia, with an excellent view of Pharos Polaris. Often used as a gathering point before teleporting out into the field. [*](6,3) The Bismarck : The most famous restaurant in all of Eoreza. Excellent views, excellent menu, excellent service. Don't forget to tip your waiter! [*](7,2 & 7,3) The Northern Islands : The northern area mirrors the layout of the area before the Southern Islands (Markets, Maelstrom Command) so would make a good HQ. The tower just north of the Seventh Sage also boasts balconies that have been used as private apartments in the past (The eastern one has fantastic views of La Noscea)[/list:u] Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks : [*](4, 7) The Astalicia : Former Headquarters of the Sanctus Refero, multiple decks and chambers for various RP scenes. Voted Best Bar in Eoreza. [*](4,5) Mealvaan's Gate, Lower Level : Archanist's Guild and Customs House. Has been used as a research facility for questionable artifacts as well as a triage center for medical emergencies. (Conjurers too far? Not rich enough for the Ossuary? Then it's time for SCIENCE! Side effects may occur) [*](5,7 & 5,4) Docks : Structures jutting over the surface of Galadion Bay. Perfect for fishing or RPing in an uncrowded environment. "Sittn on tha dock o' tha bay..." [*](6,7 & 6,3 & 6,2) Platforms : Like the docks above, but with larger open space. Suited for meetings, training areas, and headquarters.[/list:u]
  3. I honestly have no idea what happened either, but taking a step back and looking at things from a different perspective is a good plan, no need to beat yourself up over it. Besides doesn't Deirdre stab you enough as it is? Honestly Galv you and I have been here since nearly the beginning and we've seen a lot of things happen and watched people come and go and come back again. If it's your turn to on walkabout then go for it, we'll still be here when you wander back again. If anything you can do what I do with Shurin and exit the main stage, come back later as an independent unaligned guest star with no organizational allegiance, just loyalty to the friends who know and trust you. Just let me know where you're keeping that last stash of firewhiskey.
  4. So found this on the lodestone forum : Merge Day Celebration Basically a day of various events to commemorate the fusion of Fabul and Besaid into Balmung, with different things being held at different locations around Eoreza. Not RP related, but looks fun nevertheless. Even a board mod chimed in voicing support. Looks like fun
  5. *goes up and crosses his name off the list* Well, that date was my 4th choice, and unfortunately due to a rather drastic change at work I'm likely not going to make it at all that day. You'll have to find someone else to collect tickets and distribute snacks.
  6. I'd just like to share a little thought that came to me as I was reading through this thread and trying to wrap my head around both sides of the argument. Way back in the day I used to be a stage manager at a small theater company run by students and alumni from my high school. One way to think of theater and acting is extremely serious hardcore Live Action RolePlay, On Stage, With an Audience. So some things from the Company apply here. Namely, in our theater house we had two particular rooms on opposite sides of the stage. One was our Green Room, a resting room/lounge for actors to wait in when they weren't in scene. Our Director explained it to us thusly : "The Green Room is a place for you to get everything that you're trying to suppress out of you. When you're on stage YOU ARE (insert character here), leave everything else in the Green Room." So it was a place where people could just be who they really were, de-stress, smooth frazzled nerves, and be ready to jump on stage in their characters. The other was the Production Room. This was the director's and manager's offices. In this room we would work out the details and nuances of actually running the show. We'd plan and edit scenes, revise scripts, design sets, coordinate projects, anything that had to do with the background work of show business, we did it there. Free from the distractions of those crazy actors and my ever-complaining stage crew. Perhaps that's the direction we're heading in now. We have a "green room" in Intermission, where the RPers of Balmung can just lounge around and hang out and be friends while waiting for RP to happen. It might not be a terrible idea to have a "Planning Office" type linkshell for RPLS leaders and other RP leaders (i.e. if you have an RP plot line to coordinate with the greater community) to use for managing far-reaching RP events. In this way, I'm not saying that one group is right and the other isn't. I think we all as moderately mature adult-type people should be able to come to a mutually beneficial and functional solution for everyone.
  7. Shurin is only participating as the guy who runs around the stands making change for the ladies who are wishing to tuck bills into the thongs of the unfortunate meat on stage. He is also permitted to distribute popcorn and drinks during intermission, should management approve the overtime pay. It say so in my contract. True story.
  8. *steals the cancelled sign* "Oh noes! The Sign has been stolen! Quickly let us form a band of adventurers to recover it before it falls into the hands of the evil ones!"
  9. Some more people were able to gather more information this morning in regards to what's goin on, so for those who don't wanna dig through all the forums to find it here are the links. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/37301-Yoshi-s-4-choices-POLL Basically, DevTeam realized there's a lot of confusion/dissatisfaction in regards to the current plan (#4 in the above poll) and are trying to make alternatives work. Tl:dr : Option 1 - High population server is merged with Low population server (Server A + Server B = Server AB, straight merge, no transferring servers) Option 2 - High population server is merged with Low population server, but people can choose to leave for any other server (Same as opt 1, but people can choose to go to Server Whatever) Option 3 - High population server is merged with Low population server, but people can leave for a specified server if they want (Server A + Server B = Server AB, plus optional Server C) Option 4 - Current plan - All servers nuked, entire game population chooses new server individually. Then later this morning Bayohne posted a translation from Yoshi-P's direct input on the discussion http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/37151-About-the-World-Merge-and-Character-Transfers-(02-09-2012)?p=549004#post549004 The current opinion is leaning heavily towards Option 2, they just need to re-evaluate the technical aspect of the details to make it happen. Likely this means that they need to figure which servers high population servers should be paired with which low population servers, and make a system that can balance out the load across all servers in case people do decide to switch around. The only problem I'm concerned about is what'll happen if the new server can't handle the influx of RPers from other servers. Let's say the new home for the RPC becomes BesaidKarnak, but RPers from the other 16 servers who have heard the legends of the RPC of Besaid take the opportunity to join. BesaidKarnak's population could spike so hard that former Besaid residents who want to return could find their homeworld full...
