Thanks everyone for the welcome, I really appreciate it. One large benefit to working the night shift is that I happened to log on on my laptop around 4:30AM ET, and was able to make my character on Balmung. Thank you patch day and servers going up 2 hours earlier than planned~ I'm working on a char wiki and will post that in Balmung directory soon.

Man it's been so long since I've done one of these. It's so different from IRC (and being a regular) Anyway, I just purchased FFXIV. I have a history of playing WoW in years past, and after watching a friend play, and playing on the trial a bit, I've decided to make a go of it. Due to restrictions, I currently have a new character on Gilgamesh, but I'm going to be keeping an eye out this afternoon before/after the patch hits to try to grab a spot on Balmung, or wait a few days and do a transfer. This will be my first real experience with RP, and I have to say, I'm looking forward to it. It should be an interesting experience for sure. I wonder if this is where I post the backstory I spent an hour or so writing this morning while I was at work, or should hang onto that till later? Anyway, it's good to meet all of you, and I look forward to playing with you all in the future
