  1. In life, there are no truly good people with hearts of purest snow. Furthermore there are no truly evil people with lumps of iron for their heart, sitting in a black ribcage of Dark Lord despair. But there ARE dicks. Rather than being a noble hero or mr nice guy, i wanted to try and RP a truly unpleasant person. I have been VERY careful about this, and given my RP character a lot of thought. He is arrogant, vain, stubborn but also a coward. However it all comes from a story based place as to why he's like that. He is never a troll or intimidating beyond the realms of RP and he ALWAYS buckles when threatened so the other roleplayer is in the power position in the confrontation. That way, the player behind the character never feels threatened IRL. Needless to say, my RPs are confrontational when i RP with this particular character. It never EVER spills out into OOC but i find it limits what i can do with RP as obviously, no ones character wants to hang out with mine (and why would they? He's an arse.) LONG STORY SHORT: Has anyone else here ever roleplayed the bad guy, and what issues or successes have you found roleplaying this particular type of character?
  2. Wooo fellow newbie! Welcome to the forums! Hopefully we can RP together at some point. Although, i'm going to be on Balmung soon..
  3. Yo Faye! Thanks for the welcome. I've seen your face around and about this forum already. My spider sense is telling me your a big cheese around here. Correct me if i'm wrong Will be moving to Balmung very soon so hope to see you there!
  4. Oh wow, I RP'd on LOTRO for a while and I loved the community there. Seemed a lot more based in good story-telling and genuine love for the world and its lore, and a lot less "look how cool I am". That was a great community (for the most-part), but the game itself couldn't hold my interest. If you're anything like the other great RPers I met in LOTRO, we'll get along really well. Welcome to the RPC! Feel free to shoot ideas at me if you're struggling with a character idea if you want, or you can just do some walk-up RP any time if you don't want to bounce ideas off a stranger. I won't be offended. I'd love to RP with you though. Wow Uther, thanks for the welcome! You've definitely hit the nail on the head there, man. LOTROs community was by far the best i have ever seen in an MMO, RP or not. So friendly. Its because the game was all about lore, exploring and the adventure and it placed such little emphasis on loot. Its the perfect RP mmorpg really. I played lotro for agggggges. By far my fav mmo to date but the population has all but disappeared. My character on that was an old loremaster from Harad. So he had wrinkles, grey hair, black skin and spoke with a thick haradrim accent. Its going to be weird to now play a 19 year old, ginger haired cat man but hey, im nothing if not open to RP diversity When i get on to Balmung i'll look you up man. That ok? I'll even buy you a drink at the tavern in Ul Dah
  5. Thanks for the welcomes and the tips, i'll do just that. I already have a pretty unique (I hope!) character in mind so i'll try brainstorming in my lunch break at work Do lots of users here use the RP wiki as well? I'm currently addicted at looking at people's RP character profiles
  6. Hi guys, Ember here. Not new to FFXIV at all but definitely new to roleplaying on it. Currently on Moogle and planning to move to Balmung. I have experience roleplaying on an MMORPG as I used to do it on LOTRO (The lord of the rings online). Anyone have any tips on how to get started? Just to clarify, so far i've done nothing but sign up to the forums haha
