  1. This could definitely be an interesting line of roleplay to pursue! Hit me up in-game on Dhemitar or toss me a PM, and let's work something out! Always fun to meet other Roegadyn! (Seriously, I've only seen like... three or four in a month of RP.)
  2. I don't know. If you don't want to RP racist characters or themes, that's absolutely fine, and in fact, I have characters for the sole purpose of being 'happy-go-lucky/friend-of-everyone' that are a blast. Eorzea's racism never affects their lives or ever even comes up, and for all intents and purposes, it doesn't exist for them because of how they've lived their lives. Nobody is forcing you to RP stuff like this. But, in the same vein, racism does exist in this game and this world and the lore we're steeped in. Whether it's the physical differences and beliefs between the Auri peoples, cultural differences between Wildwood and Duskwight Elezen, a general dislike for Hyurans after your character being stiffed on a deal, general Garlean hatred (or adoration), whatever reason anyone 'needs' to be racist, it's out there, and some people will also choose to RP it and have it be a part of their character. You can't close your eyes and say, "It doesn't exist, because I don't like it." That's not how things work. It would honestly be better to bring up specific examples of all the races working together (such as at Carteneau/adventure groups/etc.), and making the IC claim that 'hey, we can all coexist, just look at x,y,z', than it would to take it OOC and say, 'as a player, this offends me and i want you to change you/your character/your stories/etc.'. That's not how it works, either. If none of that works or suits your fancy? Politely excuse yourself from the RP. Nobody is going to chase you down and make you do anything you don't want to. You have free choice and agency for a reason, after all. You just need to use it. It's really that simple, in my opinion.
  3. Hi, there! I've been speaking with a friend, who told me that after I purchase the first thirty days of game time (I'm currently playing off the 'given' month that came off Steam), I'm given a vial of Fantasia. As far as I understand, it's a complete character remake, save for the name. Although, that being said, I wasn't able to ask this before they logged off: Is each character given a vial of Fantasia? Or do you receive a single one for your entire account? I'm not quite sure how it works, if it's an item or Mog Station button or such, but I'm currently juggling a couple of ideas, depending on what the outcome is. If anyone knows the answer, could you please let me know? I've got a little less than a day left, but I leave for a trip very soon, so I wanted to get everything situated before I'm off! Thanks!
  4. Ack! I missed this! I wish I could have been there! My apologies! ;_; I won't be able to attend the next one, but I'll definitely try to be there for the one on 8/7!
  5. It really would take a large scale effort to make this a 'thing'. For science, I put the tag on earlier this evening and did some 'fishing' RP in the Quicksand, roleplaying individually with the goal to attract and start roleplay, rather that be the one to initiate it, and suffice to say, it did basically nothing, and I had no more (and no less?) RP than I would have received otherwise. That's why I tend to approach whenever I'm in a mood to actually RP, rather than just 'wait' for it to fall in my lap. Aside from a few flavor emotes to let people know I'm IC, that is. But, that being said, I definitely agree with the people above, though. If we really want a 'tag' to identify ourselves as roleplayers, we should ask the development team/the producer. I've been told they actually listen to their playerbase/community, which seems (sadly) surprising to me. Would be best to make this a proper 'thing', rather than some jury-rigged half measure.
  6. Well, Balmung and Gilgamesh are far and away the most populated servers with RP on them (Balmung being the biggest of the two), but I've heard of people attempting to start up roleplay on Jenova and other smaller servers (like Faerie). Unless you're really interested in helping RP blossom on servers where it is practically nonexistent (save for these few individuals and linkshells), I recommend that you wait until just after a server maintenance to try and make your character(s) on your desired server, either Balmung or Gilgamesh. I was able to sneak two characters onto Balmung just after a maintenance about two weeks ago. Though, they tend to be pretty late (or early, depending on your time zone), so they might require some finagling, and they aren't always a surefire of success. I've sat through a couple maintenances where the servers stayed closed even after the servers came back online. Though, if even that fails to work, you can always server transfer your characters from any server to Balmung/Gilgamesh. And, if memory serves me correctly (though I definitely could be wrong), a single purchase of a server transfer will allow you to move multiple characters from one server to another, regardless of level, story, etc. I'll probably end up doing that somewhere down the line myself. $18.00 is a small price to pay for enjoyable RP on a populated server, in my opinion. Especially considering the fact that I've already put about ~130 hours on this game after only having it for just shy of a month, myself. It's up to you, really. TLDR; money solves everything
  7. I'm really interested in attending this on my Roegadyn, Dhemitar! Although, I have to ask, when is this going to be held? It's today (7/24), Moraby Drydocks in La Noscea, but at what time? Would probably be very useful to have that in the main post!
  8. Giving this a bit of a bump! I've been able to find some awesome people, so far, but I'm still looking for plenty more people to RP and make connections with! Don't be afraid to send me a message in-game, a PM on the RPC, or anything like that!
  9. Quite honestly, probably what he does now. Dhemitar would most likely be a streetside food vendor, or run a small, hole-in-the-wall restaurant. That, and maybe a bit of fishing, commericial or otherwise, on the side!
  10. You should definitely get in contact with me! It seems like it would be easy for these two characters to have been past acquaintances or friends! She might have even visited Dhemitar's food stall on more than one occasion! http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=12502 Let me know if you want to do anything with that! ^^
  11. It was awesome roleplaying with you, and helping you out! Don't be a stranger, feel free to hit me up whenever you'd like to roleplay again!
  12. For sure! At the moment, Dhemitar is in Ul'dah, buying (or trying to) buy some nice Ul'dahn spices, and he's going to be headed to Gridania soon after to buy herbs, and basically get some 'high quality' items for his stall. So, he'll be back in Limsa soon enough! That actually sounds really, really awesome! Definitely poke me in-game on Dhemitar or send me a private message, I'd love to help out with something like that, as it seems really unique and very cool!
  13. Haha, no worries! I'm sure any ol' excuse will work! Bumping into each other in the street, visiting Dhemitar's stall, anything like that could definitely work! Definitely! Dhemitar's pretty 'normal', as far as Roegadyn come. A bit of work, a bit of adventure, but not entirely devoted to either! He's about as amiable as they come! Send whoever you've got at him! It's pretty hard to get on Dhemitar's 'bad' side, so, if they're able to have their ears talked off by a large, skillet-and-or-axe-wielding Roegadyn, they're basically fair game! https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/tUQPxp5SfXqlLMz3wWOd8udEVjfxrArbLFj-FwKqbmppLYdf9BDUCgyYcDoMnG1gKQuWkdiCU1Ts4IExogYUnxrlPU5-BzNV6rMNwFyzOnqft1L2MKv9o1ELfWZCakr4qL6n8VU[/img] Dhemitar's actually going to be headed up to Gridania soon for herbs, on a small mini-venture with a new friend of his! Might be able to bump into each other!
  14. Hey all! I'd like to put my Roegadyn, Dhemitar Sterrbharsyn, out there on the 'market', so to speak! What I'm looking for is, well, just about anything! At the moment, I've been experimenting with character concepts and backstories (as well as leveling classes), and I think I've got something relatively sturdy that I can spring off of. Let me know what you guys think after reading the blurb right below! --- Dhemitar Sterrbharsyn, a Roegadyn of simple tastes and easy moods. Having served on sea-going vessels both large and small, from great Eorzean whalers to minuscule merchant caravels, Dhemitar is no stranger to the sea. As with most of the Sea Wolf clan, his livelihood has existed in and around the choppy waters of the ocean for as long as he's been alive. In the warm summers of years past, Dhemitar would sail coastal waters with anyone who would hire him, providing protection against piracy as well as rigging sails, steering ships, and other such seaworthy tasks, quite similar to most Roegadyn and Hyur that had settled in and around Limsa Lominsa. When summer trade routes evaporated into the cooling chill of fall, Dhemitar would leave the sea and his ships, and settle on docks and wharfs around La Noscea, with tackle, rod and bait primed for the casting. A prestigious fisherman in his own right, he was often able to net large catches of trout, salmon, shrimp and more. Whatever he could not eat himself, he would cook, and his falls and winters were spent cooking hot meals for hungry bellies, often exchanging bowls of hot shrimp stew and plates of seared salmon for nothing more than a story or nicely-asked request. His springs were spent doing whatever he pleased, and whether it was to continue the fishing and cooking brought over from winter (if the nets had been especially full), or to simply practice his skills as a smith, much of his time was spent doing what he enjoyed. Until summers rolled around, and he felt his gil pouch nearly empty. And so, the cycle would continue, as the perennial Roegadyn continued his content and relaxed cycle of existence, living on and through the bounties and blessings of the sea. --- In essence, Dhemitar is a very kind, and very simple Roegadyn. Often preferring to spend his days, fishing, cooking or smithing, he spends much of his time in Limsa Lominsa, relaxing and running a small, but well-known food stall on the street, which specializes in whatever Dhemitar has fished up that day. That being said, he is no stranger to combat, and like many Sea Wolves, had spent (and still spends) some time sailing the seas with the intent to fight, whether it be pirates, beasts, or creatures of the deep. Now, I don't rightly know what or who I'm searching for. But, at the moment, I'm open for a lot of things! Perhaps, you need or want a cook, fisherman or smith to compliment your company! Maybe, you're just interested in a bit of hired muscle to keep someone or something safe on the road or the sea! Or, you might just be interested in sampling his spicy crabcakes, glazed salmon or shrimp fritters from his stall in Limsa Lominsa! Regardless, if you're interested in exploring any of these options, or you'd like to suggest your own, please, leave a reply in the thread, private message me, or find me in-game (usually on Dhemitar Sterrbharsyn)! You might even encounter me doing some individual roleplay in Limsa Lominsa, harking his catch, grumbling about the lack of fish, or drooling over an especially delicious bit of mackerel. With that being said, please, don’t be shy! Even if it’s just to say hi, I like to be pretty open with everyone that I meet or roleplay with, and I try to include as many people as I can! So, let me know what you think, and if any of you all are interested in making friends with this Roegadyn here!
  15. Hey all! I finally was able to make two characters on the Balmung server tonight after the maintenance. I'm pretty ecstatic, as I was starting to get worried that I'd have to drop eighteen dollars in order to RP on the 'main' server. But, thankfully, the server gods were kind! I had bopped around a bit on Gilgamesh for a couple of days before this, getting to know the game and such, before I was finally able to luck out and make my characters, Dhemitar Sterrbharsyn (a Roegadyn marauder) and Blaine Parhammon (a Hyur gladiator). I wanted to make one more character, a Keeper of the Moon - Mi'qote, but the server closed before I was able to. Maybe next time. But, c'est la vie. However, that being said, I'm excited and very interested in roleplaying (and just straight up playing) with you all! I don't have much experience with Final Fantasy (in any of the variations, as this is my first FF game), so my understanding and grasp of the world, lore, history, etc. is pretty small and basically nonexistent, so I'm curious (and hopeful) to know if there's any groups, free companies, or individuals interested in helping a newcomer get a grasp on both the game and the world itself, (with gratuitous amounts of RP tossed in between it all!). Basically, just working to get my feet out from under me. Anyways, I'm excited to just finally be on the server, and actually start 'moving forward', instead of just sitting in some holding patterns waiting for an opening. It feels nice. And please, don't be shy! I'd love to field, answer or receive any questions, comments, cares or concerns about my characters or me, and I'd love to find people interested in roleplaying with me, as well! I have experience in other similar mediums; WoW, SWTOR, SWG, etc. so I have a feeling that the general 'grasp' of roleplaying won't be totally alien to what I know. But, regardless, I can't wait to start mingling and getting to know you all! I'm sure it'll be great fun!
