  1. Poster above me had a lot of good points. Avoid the Lone Survivor trope - a hatred of Garleans is well and good, but if she's a Priestess, perhaps the invasion could be believed to have been some form of fate, or punishment for Auri sins? I don't know anything about the Auri lore at all, but that's kind of a cool idea.
  2. You're gonna try your best to make me one. *looks away innocently*
  3. I, too, recommend Ishgard RP. I run a mercenary company with a strict code of conduct ICly etc. I'm, personally, not aware of any Knighthood orders.
  4. This gal's got it, really. The short and sweet of it is that certain characters just don't fare well in public settings. Not because they're bad characters or anything like that, just that, at least from the outside looking in, the amount of time spent getting invested in that sort of character doesn't seem to be worth the return. Sometimes this might be because other people don't want to spend their time being put down, and sometimes it might just be that anti-social or otherwise impolite characters are hard to hold a long conversation with; both tend to get to a point where it's easier to just call off the encounter before things get even more awkward. Either that, or one side has to put forth all the things to talk about, and eventually, they're going to run dry. One-sided conversations, both in Roleplay and in Real Life, tend not go on for very long. Especially since we humans are very good at picking up social cues; this includes cues that we're not wanted around at the moment. No one is saying that you have to change your character in order to be accepted, just that opening them up a little more, even if it's only for the sake of interaction, might net you a little more. From the character you described, it might not even be all that hard. "Hi, I'm a knight of Ishgard here for diplomacy. Tell me about your people," might be all you ever need, and changing the character might not even be necessary at all. And that very last bit exemplifies why I came to the forums, made this post, and even added storyline requests and suggestions.
  5. Tried looking for you! @ Other poster, it's definitely possible.
  6. Sounds promising, what times are you usually available? :0 If you manage to hit me up in game we can plot or jump straight into rp! My schedule is odd, but most days and evenings, I'll be on at some point. Neversurrenderwra is my skype.
  7. You're supposed to get back to me, remember? Uh, sure. I didn't remember? Perhaps there was a miscommunication. I'll try to hit you up tonight after I get off work. However, I really won't be able to RP much until maybe Wednesday night, since my work schedule this week is balls. Liadan has her char name readily available. Reaching out goes both ways. Not everyone is going to come to you. Excuse me, but Liadan and I have talked. I don't really enjoy your rebuking me, since we discussed a lot of uses for my RP group in game. The main issue was that she couldn't justify the expense of Halone's Spear, so she was going to talk to some friends about it and get back to me. You don't know the full story, and I'd just appreciate you not saying stuff like that! Anyway, she and I are going to talk later anyways, so???
  8. This is one meeting where Anthony would be comfortable associating with an outsider - one of two. The other, of course, is nobles of the south. @Calli, I'm not sure. I'm just not sure he'd change like that.
  9. One of the major issues is that he's not an exile, he's not Haurchefant 2.0, or a heretic. He's a serious, law-abiding (for the most part), Ishgardian nobleman. It's a turn off to many RPers who don't want to prove themselves ICly, because Anthony will be cold, he will be distant, and he'll even be rude to those he doesn't know.
  10. It's pretty obvious when you think about it (I was decently known). If you're around IG, I'll tell you but I don't like to put it out in public. Trying to move on, yknow? Please hit me up when you're on!
  11. I'm at work now! I am US pacific time. Uuuuh, I'll pm you on the forums in a bit and we can talk? Or I'll send you a tell tonight. ....I had 3 shots of espresso this morning and am full of energy while throwing manga around my desk....too much excitement /falls over I work from 5:30 - 7 PM PST, after that works, PM forums, whatever man, I don't care. I literally can't stop laughing, though.
  12. Can't stop laughing. Let's talk! I'm on now if you are.
  13. I edited the OP and please RP with me before I cry or unsub.
  14. My Ishgardian Lord might be a fun contact point, as he does wield some power.
  15. I'm sorry, I highly disagree with pretty much everything you just said! I Roleplay an Ishgardian Highborn. If you don't understand the connotations to that, he's an entitled, self-confident and xenophobic snob. My character was in a room in Dragonhead, waiting for another to enter for a meeting. He expressed his annoyance with a two-line emote that didn't engage so much as speak to state of mind. -------------------------------------- I engage strangers all the time, in real life. It's my job. I'm a political science major and I was in charge of many public events for a national-level congressional campaign in which I had to interact with and socialize with the general public. To make such a blanket statement reeks of ignorance and elitism, as well as a great deal of entitlement in saying that we must abide by your rules. (E: for those who don't understand, it's the onion quoted and I'm feeding the satire with my own satire)
  16. The famed mercenary unit from the Holy See of Ishgard, consisting of the highest tier of ex-soldiers and skilled fighters is seeking to add another dozen men or women to our ranks. Applications are accepted from those exceptionally qualified in combat skills and who are willing to work as part of a team to complete contracts. Compensation is very high, as befitting the skilled soldiers of the unit. Contact Anthony Valron or Addison Hines to set up an interview and schedule a combat test.
  17. Thanks for the clarification; as stated, I AM still very new to FFXIV and the RPC here. That said, I do feel that my grasp of Ishgardian lore is excellent and I found nothing wrong or out of place w/ my character's actions.
  18. Just to clarify: I did not claim part of Dragonhead, nor will I ever. I did not even attempt to engage the other party in my RP, or enter theirs. My character simply reacted to the presence of someone who he didn't know in the area where he had scheduled a meeting. This ended with 1000 characters saying that I didn't know the lore, I wasn't a good RPer, and that I shouldn't claim areas of public spaces. I'm not sure why this was even thought, since the only IC interaction I had was a two-line emote expressing displeasure at someone being nearby without any words said. Said player immediately took it OOC and began raging at me. I'm new to Balmung, and some RP communities do have specific rules, so I wanted to see if I was doing something wrong, etc.
