[Headcanon] Ishgard has long fought the Dragonsong War, pitting those who fight for the Holy See against the hordes of Dravanians. It stands to reason that those who serve their terms in the military might seek another form of more lucrative fighting service afterwards. Perhaps, the best of these would seek service in a unit well known for their competency, their personal honor and the fact that they never, ever have abandoned or broken a contract. House Valron founded this company of soldiers, and eons ago - in the faintest of memories, the company saved a group of House Fortemps Knights and some minor members of the family. This served to both elevate the elder Valron from the gentry to the nobility, and to cement the reputation of the Company in Ishgard. I actually base all Gil values around the price of a small house (5m). A small house should be affordable to those in the upper-middle class. So, say upper-middle class is a six figure income - houses are split over a 30 year mortgage, so let's say that the average housing for the upper-middle class is 500k. That breaks down to a 30 year mortgage at $1500 a month for 30 years... Okay, let's skip the fact that there's interest and just be basic. Let's ignore that I suck at math. Essentially: $1 USD = 10 Gil. A drink should cost 40 Gil. However, looking at ingame items? A Chocobo Porter is like a taxi, but they cost between 10 - 150 gil. No taxi I've ever taken has cost me $1. Anyway, this is my personal headcanon.

I only have one issue with knife fights. You're going to get cut. Two people with knives who are fighting - both will end up with multiple slashes or stabs. No matter who wins. You. Are. Going. To. Get. Cut. So bleed a bit.

This post has been edited and changed around a bit. Hello, friends. You've seen me make a lot of satirical and welcome posts. I'm around a lot, actually. Been here for 3 weeks, almost a month. I've been trying, quite unsuccessfully, to get contacts and roleplay. However, in the past month, I've RPed less than 10 times. Personally, that's not okay. I came to Balmung to RP, and many people say I'm quite good at it. This forum is for making connections. I'd like to make some connections. If you're a mercenary, a noble, a well-known craftsman, or want to hire a mercenary or bodyguard - if you want a friend, are seeking wardship to enter the Holy See... There's a lot of possibilities. Below, I'm going to include some samples of storylines I want to run, ideas I have. Thy're not set in stone, or whatever, just ideas. Storylines I want to run: Group or characters asking for entry into the Holy See, denied by a High House, and seeking a smaller House to admit them to Ishgard. Ongoing contract to guard something worthwhile. You wanna hire a group of very skilled ex-soldiers to watch over your bank vault or guard the premises of your tavern during an important meet and greet? Need an escort for a diplomatic meeting, or trade negotiations? Got a grudge against some FC, or an NPC group? Want to hire some highly-trained soldiers of fortune to massacre them? We're your guys. Halone's Spear as an ongoing guest appearance group. You know how on TV shows there's always an ongoing group of bad guys, or just people who are constantly in the way? That appear every few episodes, annoy the main cast, and then leave or resolve the conflict? Yeah, that. You have an FC, or an LS that needs some bad guys, or a rival, or even allies? Another version of the guest appearance: My character and a few of his close sidekicks as recurring guests. I'd also like to see my character finally meet someone for a romance. Not the smallest, nor the largest, Valron's fortunes and manpower have also been tied to Camp Dragonhead for as long as memory serves. They, like their relatives in House Farendaire, are heavily invested in Dragonhead's defense. Lord Anthony's father, Lord Alexandyr, was taken prisoner by House Vairemont and executed, with the young boy - 2 or 3 - forced to watch.
