3. Character Name: Tosheden Muramasa (Last name means Demonblade) Pronunciation: Toe-shee-din Moo-Rah-Mah-Sah Aliases: N/A Birthdate: 26th day of the 6th Astral Moon Race: Hyur Gender: Male Profession: Warrior Occupation: Sellsword and part time Blacksmith Orientation: Heterosexual Apparent Age: 22 Appearance Personality Tosheden is a man with only one goal. To get stronger, even if that means getting himself into mess in the process. He's a usually quiet in big crowds unless directly spoken too or something (or someone) catches his attention. And then you will learn that he's actually a joker, and can bit bit arrogant at times. But overall he means well...unless you challenge him to a duel. He gets most of his excitement from engaging in combat. And will usually be seen smiling ear to ear when engaged. He loves to fight as much as he loves being around attractive women. Although he's sharp, he will sometimes put himself in dangerous situations just to gauge his skills. For that reason, he's rarely seen without a blade unless it's absolutely necessary. He's a sponge when it comes to learning something new and picks up on just about anything very easily. There are times however, where he can over analyze a situation, that internally hinders him from making huge decisions right away. As a kid he would sneak out of the house a lot and train in the fields. He believed at an early age, that his calling was to become a Mercenary but not just anyone...the strongest. Despite his father's attempts at keeping him away from that kind of life. History Tosheden is the offspring of both an Hyruian Midlander and Highlander. His father Toshiro Muramasa, was a retired mercanary who became an exceptional Blacksmith and settled down with his late wife, Yumi. Unfortunately, she became very ill after giving birth to Tosheden and eventually passed away when he was only three years of age. Leaving him to be raised by his Father and mentored by his uncle Gin Demonblade. Growing up around a blacksmith, Tosheden was constantly gazing at various types of weaponry. Despite his Fathers, attempt to keep him from that dangerous lifestyle he slowly but surely found out this was a losing battle. Around the time Tosheden became a teenager, his uncle Gin, had recently opened his own Dojo called, The School Of Malestorm, located a fair distance across the waters and off shore of Limsa Lominsa on a vacant island mostly covered in wilderness. Tosheden was at the entry age for this school where he would live on that island for remainder of his teenage years. After convincing his father to let him go, he left and was gone for quite some time. While away his father was assassinated in his sleep by a female M'itoque bandit. His uncle kept this piece of information from Tosheden knowing it would make him become vengeful and keep him focused on training for as long as he could. But alas, Tosheden eventually connected the dots and realized his father was murdered instead. He didn't intially know, his father was murdered until he graduated the school as his uncle knew but kept it a secret to keep him focused on training and told him he passed away in his sleep of old age. He had to close his fathers shop and turned his back on blacksmithing as a whole. As he was secretly practicing in his sparetime while living on the island with his uncle. He then became a Mercenary for hire as he was with no money and his own. Eventually, he encountered a female miqo'te who was bandit attempting kill him to further harrasss the mercant he currently was a Bodyguard for. This encounter almost costed him his life if it weren't for the efforts of Ellion Gato who happened to step in right before the fatal blow was delievered. The assilant who fled the scene immediately after. Although he walked away from that fight he was left with a permanent scar that stretches from his left eyebrow, across his nose and to his right cheek. But this haunted him because he was never beaten in a one on one fight so effortless before. Ellion offered to help him find her but under the condition Tosheden joined the Nightblades. He was interested in the pupil who rose from The School Of Malestorm and saw him as worthy investment for his ambitions...
4. Thank you very much. Ironically, I was kind of nervous about posting this here because I want it to rightfully relay the experiences I've been having with FFXIV so far. Only way to do that is by simply..telling the tale. Lol anyway I'm also happy mine gives you some inspiration to start one as well. I'd be happy to read it once you have it going!
5. Whose the noob with the low post count? I know I know. Well the names Tosheden. And I have a screenshot addiction. :frustrated: Anyway I complied this up to basically give people an idea on how the game looks from someone else's perspective as I enjoy reading player made entry blogs myself. If I bump into you in game you may find yourself in here. In the mean time, while the servers are down, or if you're bored, enjoy my personal Trials Of A Noob. If it gets some good thumbs I'll update it more. Entry #1 E1:1 Tosheden Muramasa a name with many reincarnations. Mostly my entire online gaming career I've used the alias Tosheden, Toshiro, and if the last name permits Muramasa. I came up with this name playing a game called Way Of The Samurai some years ago. Since then the name has stuck. This time however, it belongs to a character in FFXIV. I've never played any online Final Fantasy games, ever. I did grow up playing the ones on playstation/2 as mostly everyone here. And some how was lucky enough to Beta test this one since Phase 2. I immediately thought, in order for me to enjoy this game in its entirety I'm going to need to join a guild. And it just so happens Night Blades were recruiting and welcomed me with open arms. (Shout out to you guys!) Most of them are from the original version of the game. Which I've never played before so everything from the scenery to lore I'm completely new to. And so far it's a hell of an experience. E1:2 I was walking out of a town (name slips my mind at the moment) and the music kicked in. That along with me being able to slowly see the sun rise up in the distance was absolutely breath taking. FFXIV is the second game where I was completely taken in by the visuals alone. To me that's what MMOs are all about. Being able to become immersed, rally up with your friends and kill some monsters, or people if you are into PvP. I just remember sitting there as I positioned my camera for the right angle thinking... "Wow, this game is amazing". I don't know if the sun rising triggered the music or not but regardless it was one of those small experiences we've all had in a game where we just knew.. "I'm going to be here for awhile." And so it begins in Eorzea. E1:3 One of the perks of this great game was it's dungeons. Here you can see one of the founders Loki, with the awesome photobomb. Loki is pretty cool and entertaining to talk to, seems to know her way around the world a bit. She's like me, reader then researcher when it comes to learning new games. I would have taken more pictures but I was slightly busy trying to figure out how everything worked. I had to tank and nervous as I was I didn't want to wipe the group. To me everyone in a group has a role to play and you have to play that role really damn good or you're more of a burden then actually helping. That's always been my mentality so if I'm in a party I want to make sure I do my part. Luckily we completed all three dungeons for Ul'dah, Limsa, and Gridania. It's fitting that we finished all these a few hours prior to the servers being taken down. This marks the end of Test number 3 of Phase 3. Which is only a step closer to Phase 4 (Open Beta) and following Launch. And I can honestly say I've not looked forward to the release of an MMO in a long time. E1:4 Another great scenery of the night time sky. If you've played any mmos with time cycles you should know how amazing these things are. I've been guilty of always looking up just to see how real it actually looks. This pretty much reaffirmed how amazing this game really is. And it's a credit to the visual artists on the team. They really out did themselves. I forget exactly where I was heading, I know I was leaving town but something told me to just turn around and look up and this was the result of that. I'm glad I did as these gems and experiences are irreplaceable. Imagine how you felt the first time you looked into the eyes of your freshly created character, you can't replicate that feeling. You can only keep coming back for more.... (Click the links below to quick jump to my posts) Entry #2 Entry #3 Entry #4 Entry #5 Entry #6 Entry #7 Entry #8 Entry #9
6. Thank you for the pointer I was kinda trying to figure out where the guild section was here didn't know they were called Linkshells lol! Also thank you everyone else for such the warm welcome!
7. Hello everyone! I'm new to the boards and the game so I'm noob level -512937123712 and I've got a whole plethora of "Whats this" and "Whats that" and "How f*** does that work!?" You know, noob stuff lol. I found out about FFXIV by complete randomness (Or maybe it was destiny due to how awesome it is ). I was really hoping it was some type of an established RP community for this game and I'm happy my search led me here. I've played a couple mmos over the years; SWG, TOR, TSW, GW (couldn't get into it for longer then a week) WoW (10minutes literally). But I mostly stuck with SWG as my main since it was my first and I eventually had to operate a guild for 6 years so it was hard to let go until the lights got shut off . Moving on! I've always been drawn into the aspect of RP. When I first started getting into MMOs I got sucked into RP and since then it became one of my favorite ways to enjoy the game. It lead to some really interesting stories made a ton friends and just as many foes(ICly ofc). RP really keeps the game interesting and gives you something to do besides PvE and PVP. And it's been a long time since I've actively RP'd and I really miss it. So I'm hoping FFXIV can relight the fire I had for it years ago. I don't have a character background made up (aside a name) at all since I'm trying to get seasoned on how this world....turns. I know it'll be something along the lines of a guy who loves that thrill of battle just as much as having some drinks in the nearest tavern talking about how quick that monsters head fell off. Anyway, I'd like to join a guild before the game releases if not though I'm sure you'll see me running around after launch. Hope to meet some interesting people around these parts! P.S. Accepting new friendships. P.P.S Bring booz and pizza and we'll be buds for life
