It's good they are adding more content in so soon, but I am hoping that these patch details only refer to the content parts of the patch as that seems like they were the only things being discussed. More concerned about quality of life features and vanity slots (and more jobs, but that's a long way off I'm sure).
  2. Irks me a bit that I have to renew my subscription and my girlfriend's subscription for this, and keep it active until the end of March to reserve names. Instead of reshuffling everyone they should have just taken the smallest population servers and transfered them.. that's what every other MMO does. SE's logic is so silly sometimes... Gonna go with whatever is decided for sure, but I chose Server 6 cause it's a bit down the list and people are less likely to choose even numbers.

I'd say go with whatever you have an attachment to considering how races in FFXIV aren't holed up in one culture you could argue that any sort of name could fit.
  4. Nothing wrong with a high-tier video beastiary! FFXIV has some pretty creative looking enemies that I'm sure some of us would never have seen otherwise Thanks.

  7. Interesting theory on the "jump" situation. I think they are heading in the right direction, as more MMOs should. Doing an action and having a little animation to change between planes of terrain (i.e. climbing over something or dropping down something in Assassin's Creed) Although I am primarily a PvPer I am glad that they will not be having open PKing. I prefer conquest/battleground type scenarios... I just hope the PvP isn't as niche and insignificant as Ballista was in FFXI, or an arena type thing.. hate arenas. My highest hopes are to be able to join a Faction and fight in a Warhammer Online-style RvR territory conquest lake.

  10. Does the Optimal Rank on an item refer to one's Physical Level or their Class Level?

  13. The first impression is usually a bad one for all MMOs at launch I agree, but I have never experienced one quite this bad. A lot of the problems are concerning the game design itself, and the major ones at that: not how rough around the edges it is.

  15. So more efficiency. Something I was wondering; if you are at a certain with your physical level, like Camp Drybone (the level 10ish area for Ul'Dah) and decide to go back and work on a Rank 1 Class, should you go back to the noobie area or should you stay in the current area to kill things?
  16. Naturally improving your PL will help you with your Ranks. Really... I was not aware of that. How so? :?
  17. I don't really like crafting, but I may do fishing for the heck of it though. It isn't my physical level I am having problems with though, it is class levels, so that doesn't really help the issue.
  18. It was more of a rhetorical question hehe, I am a veteran of FFXI (novice of Aion though the grind was too brutal to continue). Shocking about that change in EXP though, didn't know that. I stopped playing FFXI just before the level syncing came out. So my whining about their EXP grind comes from prior to that. The problem I am having with FFXIV though isn't the cap, quite the opposite. I can't get anywhere near the Surplus. I feel the need to grind for hours on end in FFXIV far more than I have in any previous game because I am just not getting anywhere and it is driving me insane.
  19. Lucky indeed. At the moment I have been reduced to rotating my alts so I have some way to progress when my guildleves are on cooldown on one character. At this rate I'll have a fully fleshed out character, skill wise, in oh.. a year.. maybe more? *Scratches head* How bad was the leveling in Aion/FFXI again? I thought SE said they wanted to move away from that.
  20. Very well said Rain, and I agree on all parts. I shall submit some feedback similar to your own. This is a serious deterrent from continuing with FFXIV.
  21. Hmm.. very interesting about the rotation. I shall remember that when I try to level THM some more I have been trying to upgrade my equipment but have had problems finding a new weapon. Everything else is moderate. I don't die very often, usually hold my own against yellows and oranges (unless I have a lot of misses/evades). My problem is that I have a hard time finding them, and that they don't give much skill ups when I do. Spent a couple hours hunting stuff tonight around Drybone and have not a rank increase to show for it.
  22. How are you lads doing it? :? (I am referring to skill level not physical level by the by) Guildleves are nice, but extremely limited as well as on a long cooldown. Killing individual enemies reeks of inconsistency and random skill ups. How is it meant to be done? I understand FFXIV is not supposed to be about racing to max level, but I feel more than a little ridiculous being rank 10 for 5 days. It does not bode well for the future, or altitis for that matter. The road of progression feels needlessly long, empty, and callous. Like EVE without space. I ramble though. Perhaps my conceptions are premature? Any ideas to get the ball rolling as it were?
