Anyway. Back to the matter at hand. I wouldn't mind jumping the proverbial ship onto a lower populated server. I thought Gilgamesh would be the home to the Non-Legacy RP community, but with how OVERWHELMINGLY populated that particular server is compared to literally every other Non-Legacy server, it might be in the 'Gilgamesh Roleplay Communities' best interest to perhaps find another home BEFORE Phase 4 / Open Beta / Head start begins.

Not to be rude, but for the hundredth time the reason why people aren't automatically rolling on Balmung is that we don't want to play on a Legacy server. Accept that fact. That's the only reason why we'd want to pick a Non-Legacy alternative. What else could it possibly be? Stop trying to jam it down our throats. We know how WONDERFUL AND GREAT Balmung is.

Yes. One Roleplay community. I understand all that, and as noble as that sounds the ways you seem to try to go about this is by: Making the opposition to your single server look as unattractive as possible and hope that it just disappears under the weight of obscurity. That way everyone hops ship to Balmung for Roleplay, right? I may sound overly pessimistic, but to a good number of people putting A LOT of effort into advertising the RPC to bring new members in, while trying to help Gilgamesh grow into the strong, community backed server Balmung is... it's how it seems. All we want is to be seen as equals. That's all.

Legacy and Non-Legacy are labels that SE uses. We've designated these servers as primary and secondary from the very beginning when we announced that we were going to hold a poll to choose the secondary server. Fair enough. Alothia's very well written "Welcome to the RPC" post on the frontpage though seems to label the servers as "Legacy" and "Non-Legacy" though. Might cause some confusion. I don't know, I just feel as someone who's trying to start up the MUCH smaller Gilgamesh community, that these derogatory server designations [ Literally feeling like a SECOND class citizen ], only hurts what we're trying to grow into something great. Might just be me though.

Again with the 'Primary' and 'Secondary'. I thought it was decided they'd be labeled as 'Legacy' and 'Non-Legacy'.

Feel free to toss me some Pearls, I'll be more than willing to pass them out during the last bit of Phase 3 and of course Phase 4 when that finally comes around.

That is a very good initial start Rock, I might also suggest maybe an IC Linkshell for RP when not around physically. It can help for those that want a little rp fix while leveling. I think both ideas are good ones. Never a bad thing to have more options. As for names hmm. The break room? Lol I like both ideas myself, now what to name them, and can a person have two linkshells? I mean if one of you guys wants to start one of these go right ahead you know? You can have multiple Linkshells, like up to six maybe? Maybe more? I had one for my Guild and had one for another group I frequently partied with. They just act like chat channels, really. I'd wear my RPC Linkshell proud right next to my Free Companies Linkshell for sure.

From the start I've noticed an uncomfortable passive-aggressive entity on the forum trying to push me away from my server selection which I felt was completely unnecessary. I have less than a dozen posts on the forums and it feels I've gotten at least just as many responses reminding/telling me that Balmung is the primary server and would be better suited for my roleplay desires. I wholeheartedly agree with what Rock has pointed out. Respect the fact that some players would prefer to play on a Non-Legacy server with a Roleplay community trying to grow to be comparable to what Balmung has at the moment. Respect and Support the cause. ♥

I like it. Perhaps open it to all rpers guilded or not? No doubt a good idea. It could be an open thing to meet, greet and recruit roleplayers in a more face-to-face manner too. Could be a fun time.

Can you do.a summary of the FC here? I was planning on doing just that, just wasn't sure where the appropriate place for it was on the forums. Wasn't sure if the forums would be separated into separate subcategories for both Balmung and Gilgamesh.

I'll be heading a Free Company on Gilgamesh with about a dozen or so friends all with roleplaying backgrounds. Should be a good time, looking forward to Phase 4, headstart, and release.

Now that the voting is over, would it be in our best interest to start luring people onto these forums? This is assuming that registration's opened back up to the public. I'd love to get some interested RP'ers over onto these boards from other sites/communities.

Just as a note, even the non-legacy servers will have people with characters built up from Phase 4 and the pre-order early access. I understand the sentiment, but just a cautionary note that new servers have unstable economies (not that thats always a bad thing) as well as rocky server populations. I myself have used this to my advantage in the past on EQ and WoW, but gaming the economy is not my thing anymore. I myself will have a Balmung and then one on what ever server my non-RP friends decide to roll on as well. Either way, best of luck in Eorzea Oh, trust me. I've been playing MMO's long enough to understand. In all reality, Phase 4 and Pre-Order is the launch of ARR in my eyes, and for most people who see this MMO as their Golden Goose for the present and future. Also, server economies on new servers usually are bonkers to start, but they level out. The thing about it is that everyone is starting on level footing where on Legacy servers, you'll have the higher leveled masses using their advantage to control the market due to their ability to farm and banked gains from 1.0. There will be economic problems on both sets of servers, I just prefer one over the other.

Every server will have its bad apples, can't avoid them in an MMO really. The only reason I do not want to be a part of the cool-kids-Balmung gang, is simply due to the fact that it is a Legacy server. I like the idea of ARR being a brand new experience to everyone around me. I like the idea of everyone starting off on even foot and watching the server grow and evolve as time goes on. I like the idea of the economy flourishing from the ground up and server first achievements of any and all kinds being done by people I know were not given the 'headstart' the Legacy gang did. That's just me though, as someone who avoided the trainwreck that was 1.0. I like to think of it as a brand new game, and just feel more at ease starting on a server that suggests the same. I know Legacy servers have benefits, but it's just not for me, I guess. That's why I was hoping for a solid non-Legacy alternative for roleplaying.
