  1. Welcome back to the game, and good luck getting into Balmung if this is where you want to play! I don't have a FC or any real Linkshells yet, but as a new player on the server I'm working to meet new faces all the time too. Feel free to send a message to Sana Zhwan if you want.
  2. With all the posts I have seen lately about folks not knowing where to start this seemed like a good idea to bring up. I'm not sure the title of that post really gives a good sense of the valuable information within. It was such a welcome find it was too good not to share to help others locate good places to get started.
  3. At the top of this area of the forum is a sticky thread about Player and FC Housing. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR RP YOU SHOULD USE THIS! (If you're hitting this post from the main page sidebar this should be the link to the thread: http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=7491 ) I started RP on Balmung recently, and a LOT of RP seems to happen in the player housing areas. Not that it doesn't happen elsewhere, but if you want to find it easy then using that thread is a good way to find places. The in-play house taverns are always a good one, or if you're looking for anything then go walk into someones business! I've gotten a good bit of RP doing this so far. At the same time, if you've got a house with a business or open for RP please list it so people like me and others can take advantage!! Thanks! Sana

    Kudos!

I'd like to thank Alexa Rose (Magellan) for inviting me to RP last night. It was great fun, great personalities, and very welcome after being unable to get any RP out of the Quicksand so far (not that I've given up trying!).
  5. Welcome, and sorry to hear about your lag issues. I haven't experienced anything lag-wise yet, but it hasn't been long for me now.
  6. I. Basic Info Characters:Sana Zhwan Primary character:Sana Zhwan Linkshells:None Primary RP linkshell:None II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Shooting for medium/medium-heavy as an average, but anything is welcome as long as it is fun and/or engaging! Views on RP combat and injuries: Winning all the time is absolutely boring. I don't prefer to use PVP as a combat resolver. Either /random is fine, or just by general agreement on what happens is preferable to me. I have no problem with my characters losing, being injured, and needing to recover. Views on IC romance: These are ok, but anything considered ERP will not happen, or happens in a 'fade to black' assumption. If you like ERP that is fine. It just won't be with my characters. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Sana has family both living and dead. Two of them are played as other characters by friends. A younger sister, Nefzen, and fourth brother, Erah'sae. I'm not against them if they fit what is going on in her life, and they enhance her character and yours! Views on lore: Love it, don't know it all well yet. If there are no direct explanations then applying the existing lore and story events to determine what is plausible is the direction I usually take. It's not often I just pull something out of the air and run with it without some explanation. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): Useful, but prefer not to abuse them so that it doesn't cut out too many people from RP since non-say channels are commonly limited to the number of users. III. Other Info Country:US Timezone:CST Contact info:In game or on this site preferred. I check here regularly.
  7. More people for RP is always welcome. You can never have enough folks to run into somewhere!
  8. Thanks everyone. I've made a few initial contacts with some folks last night, walked through Ul'dah a bit, and sat in the tavern doing some emoting and listening to RP going on. It isn't much yet, but at least the thoughts are flowing on what kind of person Sana will become. LiadansWhisper: Brynsaar, Aerth (very small with just some friends), and Amia (most recent a few years ago). Nebbs: Lots of RP is always the plan! Aiswynd:
  9. She's not trained in much yet. She just got to Ul'dah and started her research and training, but she'll be looking into anything she can learn!
  10. Not a lot to read here people! Move on to the Q&A! --MMORPG background NWN Persistant worlds (technically an MMO ) DAOC WoW Aion SWTOR GW2 Wildstar --RP experience I've RP'd in everything from Tabletop, LARP, to MMOs large and small. Anything from simple RP to complex worldly plots. Evil and good. I'm not afraid to fail or be 'defeated' in something as that tends to be the best character growth experiences. --Character ideas/info Sana is the eldest child of her family with one younger sister and four younger brothers. She has a no-nonsense and rough exterior, especially when it comes to her siblings putting their noses in her business. Her mother started to pressure her about starting her own family, but her interest in Thaumaturgy with its many faceted powers make her brush off any thoughts of such nonsense. She left for Ul'dah to focus on research and harnessing those powers, but little does she know her youngest brother was sent to keep an eye on her. Deep down she feels the powers she can harness from the Aether will allow her to protect herself, family, and friends, regardless of if those powers are considered forbidden or not. As she is a new character in the game I'm starting her from the perspective of knowing little. I'm not highly knowledgeable in the lore and that usually provides a good hook to talk to more knowledgeable characters. Other traits will develop as she encounters people and grows! Isn't that the fun of it all? --How did you learn about the coalition? Adventuring into the darkest and most forgotten libraries has revealed this lost knowledge! Though getting past the lava moat with the fire breathing unicorns was quite tricky. --What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy? Medium to Med-Heavy is the target if possible. --Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc) I work full time and have a family. As such that defines my play time and availability to evenings primarily. I have friends in the game who are playing my younger sister and youngest brother, so chances are you'll see us together somewhere. I'm not really into the PVP aspect of the game for dealing with RP. I'm not all that great at it and it has little appeal to me in MMOs. If you enjoy it I'm glad. It's a fun aspect of the game to enjoy for many, but not my cup of tea. I look forward to running into you, whoever you all may be!
