  1. Ah stop being a nay Sayer. Bug's are unpredictable plus nothing like this actually ever happened in the closed beta so it really couldn't of been predicted or fixed in the closed. anyway I am sorry, but that's still doesn't really explain that they should have been aware of this problem more than 90 hours ago. Now more than 20,000 players can't go online because of this issue and they haven't resolve it or even considered to extend the open beta for those who weren't even able to play right after character creation.
  2. Bugs should have been fixed since Closed Beta. Open Beta is usually made for people to actually earn the right to enjoy the game to ensure that everything is working perfectly. There is no excuse to this.
  3. LOL character creation for NA/EU is now getting 3102 error. Japanese servers are working perfectly.
  4. What about the error 3102? From my knowledge, SquareEnix closed down their forums after swarm of the complaints. I have a feeling that this is going to be like D3/SimShitty 5 again where people can't log in and can't go online lol.
  5. I am also depressed by this. I think Square-Enix really did something careless for their part. Though I am hoping they'll work on this and fix it asap.
  6. If people can't create their characters or play at all on Gilgamesh due to extreme populations, then we should really consider about choosing 2ndary server besides Balmung. (Seems like Balmung closed down on their character creation) Reddit/Somethingawful/BlueGartr and our community is completely swarming the server down and it seems like Reddit successfully closed down Gilgamesh from creating characters forever. I know what people will say considering that "No, we are not making another server for this. It's not happening" - but I think this wasn't planned through enough to diverse the community more. And this suggestion should be considered for future case of scenario again. Gilgamesh is more overpopulated than Balmung, which is quite harder for new people to join in. :C What are your thoughts in this?
  7. I think it'll be better if we didn't have a lot of people in the server and also to stop this 3102 error bs for last three days. (AND! preventing the character creation too)
  8. Since the servers don't say "Non-RPers are not to create non-RP names in the server" it's bound to happen to see names like "Jail Bait" , "Sex Slave" or "Samuel Jackson". But I am more concerned about Square Enix being hostile to keep me out of Gilgamesh with 3102 error code now, especially when I cant even create characters. I really wish I could just say "STAY OUT OF MY SERVER PEOPLE", but I am sure everyone else would feel the same lol
  9. Seems like Gilgamesh is currently full. Is anyone else having trouble? Because it seems like they temporarily closed down character creation because people were swarming in as soon as it opened.
  10. Ah what the hell. I'll also vote for Girugamesh.
  11. This is very hard to decide on. Hmm... Gilgamesh or Midgardsormr... *will vote later tonight for my final decision!*
  12. @Crow: Thank you for writing in a professional way that I was not able to, because there were main reasons I wanted to point out but I couldn't word it properly Also I have 5-6 who are interested in playing the game and would like to roleplay and they are also another reason who told me to ask such questions instead for them. But I also support their opinions in some manners. We want to start freshly new, and they don't mind going to Balmung but they are mostly hoping that it'd be non-legacy RP server. So me and my friends will see what happens by July 1st.
  13. @Curtis-West: I would not honestly say the way you worded sounded mean. Which in some ways, you are indeed correct. However I will leave my final decision when the actual open beta happens. Until then, I'd like to open my ideals to have a different server too, in case if Balmung gets either laggy or full or whatever it might occur as well. Thank you though.
  14. What LS/group are you referring to? As far as I know every group here who is accepting members is accepting newcomers and legacy players alike. I've actually looked at the LS recruitment and other LS lists through this site, and some were closed and were not accepting new members. I will not mention any names up here since it'll cause more commotions than it should. Group, maybe they would accept newcomers and legacy players . But I dont think it's the same for LS.
  15. I will personally take grain of salt and give it a try being in legacy server after everyone's feedback. However, I still will consider having the option for a new server mainly because me and my friends were screwed over in many terms in FFXI, WoW, GW2 and Tera RP community since most of them had their communities built up for a long time that they only look at each other. We even tried to make the initiatives but wasn't good enough so we gave up on that. With that said, I won't deny that this community is slightly better in terms of newbie welcoming community - but I still feel that it'll come down to a limit of toleration to each of it's own. Never got to me why Legacy players considered of going to new server like Gilgamesh but I always thought of it as that they don't feel like making a new character and playing from scratch. I mean, it's not that it's bad or anything. But the title is really "a realm reborn" to let everyone know that it is reborn for everyone to approach new again. If I ever do join Balmung, I am probably going to have to join a community that will not make each other feel awkward or even welcome new players. But regardless, I think veteran/legacy LSs/group should consider accepting new players than closing recruitment or isolate the newcomers from their usual roleplaying group. New players are the main things that makes this community stronger than the veteran players in my honest opinion.
  16. Thank you for your grammar nazi statements that was very unnecessary, however I'll just take that as a grain of salt and deal with it. My statement still stays the same that you are simply defending this community because you personally feel welcomed and have friends in this community more than outsiders such as me. You may have not given "superiority complex" attitude to your own words, but to people like me was quite intimidating and provocative. I have read the boards as you have bolded to make sarcastic remarks, and yet that still doesn't convince me why I should feel welcomed to this community after your constant condescending attitude. MMO community to each of it's own may be unique, but people's personalities would not change. Instead of trying to convince a discouraged new players like me, you are instead aggravating them personally. Personally, I find this whole argument between you to be rather more intimidating and condescending than me actually be convinced that I should listen to you. Especially the whole bolded words are a bit more than what I deserve.
  17. I think it's rather difficult to meet and go to places to roleplay especially if you are low level. I am more into finding Linkshell groups that roleplay than join in these events because most of the time I won't be able to read the forum post frequently to check the date and time. (considering if it's 9 PM PST and it's midnight for EST and I live in the Eastern borders).
  18. So in your words, joining this community is like buying a car - where I have to put down my consideration before I get what I want? That's quite a cliche metaphor there. Also if that's how you get cars, then that's quite a huge loss unfortunately. Your several points doesn't really give any clarifications on why new people should expect that this community is open to them. Instead, you are bluntly telling them that we should "do some homework and learn to educate ourselves" that this community is different from what we have experienced before. Now, I have been in FFXI RP community (considering that there are FFXI RP players in here), and there has been a lot of anti-new player community before too. It was very hard to get into the RP interaction with the veteran players because they would be going into areas that new players can barely move around into, and they just would be like "let new players do their own thing. We can do our own thing instead." So Hydaelyn Roleplaying Coalition is a "Friendly" community, but is it really newbie friendly to the community? I mean the only thing that I see that's considerable as "newbie friendly" is the Welcome Desk and nothing more. New players are having some hard time getting into the forum discussions. So do please enlighten me. Are you going to tell me that it is the players fault for not able to approach other veteran players properly? If that' s the case, then why are we having this forum for new players? Mentoring is a great idea, but that can take it up to many limits. Mentors can tolerate new member's RP skills, but when these new members go into the real field, they might not get what they expected from the experience they had with their mentors. "This is a Hydaelyn Roleplaying Coalition, not EQ2, WoW, Tera" is a very cliche statement. What you are stating is nothing but saying "This group is better and superior than others because they accepted me and I accepted them. Therefore I support them and it is better than other community". What if there are better community than this? You are not helping new players like us to convince WHY we should join Balmung with other legacy players instead, you are just saying "quit your whining, and you put your own effort to be welcomed by others". Some players are not straightforward, and optimistic, or even confident to just approach and say "Excuse me, I'd like to join you guys". Even if they did say that, it's more of 50/50 that the others will accept this new player. Also from other time when I posted about me shouting " I am looking for Roleplaying LS" in the town, you bluntly said in that post "Why in the world would you shout that? No one would Roleplay with you if you say that" - So this is another reason new players are discouraged of going to servers with veteran players with pre-made RP LS/groups. Unfortunately, you are the one that is not helping, especially if you are trying to support this community and defending them, but also telling other new players making posts like "No one would tell you if you shout stuff like 'I am looking for roleplaying LS'". Especially when people have different ways of being initiative.
  19. Blackdrakon - people like yourself is a main reason new players are having trouble of considering to join this community. Its like implication of saying "if you have doubt about this community then why are you here?" But every legacy players would defend their community because they had been here longer than anyone else. But everyone had previous experience with previous players and other games regarding the communities. It is true that FFXIV is totally different from Tera, WoW, and possibly FFXI. But is it really any different? Also most FFXIV players from FFXI and there has been severe players that gave hard time to newcomers. Telling someone to do their homework is just provoking players. Just saying. EDIT: Also this thread is to help players find non-Legacy server to roleplay on if they dont want to join Balmung. So why are people (with legacy) keep pushing others to join a server where new players know that they wont even have chance to play with legacy players?
  20. The problem is linkshell community than role-playing. Please remember that. If one cannot join a linkshell that he /she wants to join, then what? Make your own linkshell? What if one does not want to make a linkshell and they just want to join an active role-playing linkshell but cannot join them because they are new ? There are those veterans that will be like "it feels awkward having a new person in our circle." I would not join a server just because there are role-players when I cant join their linkshell. There are more role-playing sessions with linkshells than a mere /shout.
  21. I can see where Aeonic's opinion is coming from because it is true that one can feel completely left out by the senior communities that were established from 1.0 and might have that awkward space or don't care about new players joining. Sometimes even in RP, the old communities would be like "uh, that's now how we RP" to the new players and they'd correct them but it also might be something REAALLLLY hard to get used to. Tera's RP community was just horrible. They accepted members but they didn't care to look at you because you are new to their "group circle". Also the environments in the game were never made to be roleplaying based like WoW, so it is nearly impossible to get the full potential to have fun ICly. It's matter of people's choice. Let's say that I go to Balmung, and there are no Linkshells that will welcome me since all the senior communities want only the "old members" that they RPed with. Then what? Where would I belong in the community? Would I make a new Linkshell and have people join mine? Then what if these people who joined my Linkshell go off and say "I want to join the senior Linkshell community because they seem to have fun more than this and also their community is well built since 1.0"? So with that aside, Balmung can't be really looked up as a "good server community". I mean, it's a server for those who played 1.0 don't want to start from scratch again. (No offense intended). So it'll make a lot of new players feel left out by the senior communities.
  22. Oh of course RPers wouldn't hide themselves. There are a couple of things you can look for to spot one. For instance, look for walkers. Someone you see walking is often times an indication the person is open to being engaged by another role player. Also listen for local /say dialogue that might be indicative of in-character chatter or /emoting that may look as though the character is canonically interacting with their environment. If all else fails, coordinate on here and go "Hey! Anyone want to go meet up at for some role play?" - I'm sure you'll get some bites. Unfortunately, I am not the type of person who initially approaches to someone and interact with people ICly. I usually prefer asking people OOCly if there is a RPing Guild/Group (Linkshell in this term) and then start from there. So far, there has not been any /say or /emote around the city I am wandering around at the moment so that's a moot there.
  23. Did you really go running around shouting "Are there any roleplayers here?" Why would I not do that? There might be those who might respond You might have better success engaging someone in an in-character fashion because your method of advertising is very much not so. I personally wouldn't respond to someone who went around yelling "Looking for RPers! Send /tell!". It's not like RPers are actually the community that would like to hide themselves away from regular community. Also there are huge amount of people at the starting area, that it's really hard to tell if one is roleplaying or talking through OOCly. I never thought /shout was considered as IC-chat.

  25. I am hoping that it's Midgardsormr in non-Legacy server because I tried to look for RPers in Gilgamesh, no one bothered to respond to me when I asked every 5 mins.
