Sorry for the slow response... it's been a busy week! I can't speak for K'thalen, but K'haaz and K'bashir are the results of me trying to build the family tree more. K'haaz is K'raqi (my dude)'s dad. Distant, no longer a nunh, possibly estranged from the tribe. Going with him, your character and mine would be considered siblings. K'bashir is the father of most of K'raqi's mates, including K'maki He's a blank slate even moreso than K'haaz. Going with him, your character and mine are potential mates.

I know the basilisk tribe (P) is a desert tribe from Ul'Dah. Also there are are many Miqo'te from the Gridania area as they rival the Elezen in Archery philosophy so there must be a few tribes from there. Do you mean the Drake (U) tribe? They are the only ones I saw out there.

Finally finished this... Rocky (now formally named K'raqi) and Aysun dancing.

This thread is for K tribe stuff, unless you want to drop your D heritage and become one of us. In which case, your character would be K'jiihn Tia.

I feel like the fact that they spend a lot of time to themselves in the desert would mean some preservation of the old language, particularly if there's a mismatch like K / Hipparion, and the fact that they already hold on to a lot of old ways being tribal as opposed to metropolitan. If roegadyn can remember enough of it to use for names, miqo'te could do just the same - but for their tribes. Somebody's got to remember the original name of their tribe... But I am a history buff, and I don't like waving away things as old and forgotten. Somebody's got to know, like a character that's into history as well. I don't think it would hurt to try to ask them about these instances.

I was wondering, is anybody here 1.0 and has access to post on the Lore forums? I have a burning question: what are the miqo'te words for the letters that don't match up with the Eorzean alphabet? For example, ours! Hipparion is K, also there's O for Mole, U for Drake, etc. What are these words?! With that info, the characters could actually use the word - I imagine they'd definitely know, being Hipparions (hippies? hipsters?) themselves.

I'm totally fine with letting go of K'jira and combining him with somebody. And you can kill off K'bashir, if you like - if it's really necessary, both of them can go. The only characters I'm attached to are his mom (K'ali Fidar) and his first daughter (K'ali Araqi), and I suppose her mom (K'maki Bashir). Feel free to shift around the rest or kill them off as you like.

Here are my thoughts and some revised character history about the hipparion creature as a "theme" of the tribe. From what I gather, in real life the hipparion is a paleolithic horse that had 3 toes and stripes, and hung out in plains and other open areas. Also in real life, tribes usually name themselves based upon what they hunted or utilized a lot in their daily life. Since the Hipparion tribe dwells mainly in the desert, I'm thinking of combining the idea of the traditional hipparion with the oryx, of which some subspecies dwell in the desert, like the scimitar oryx. There are currently no visuals that I can find of hipparions in any Final Fantasy game - so for something to look at, I think I'm gonna try to draw them, combining these two real life animals. http://www.adias-uae.com/logatham/hipparion-fig9-8.jpg[/img] "Real" Hipparion http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d1/Flickr_-_Rainbirder_-_Beisa_Oryx_%28Oryx_beisa%29.jpg[/img] Oryx As for behavior of the tribe, here is my idea: the Hipparion tribe, historically, was known for herding / riding hipparion, utilizing them for food and a nomadic lifestyle in the desert, as well as combining flashy spear / axe / thrown weapon techniques with their mounted advantage to hunt (interesting note: dragoons in real life were initially mounted cavalry). I think it's safe to say at some point the hipparion became extinct, but the lifestyle of the tribe remained similar - still using spears / axes, but no longer with the aid of being mounted or being able to herd animals for food. I think they could easily be both known for dragoon and marauder-type techniques.

This thread is intended for members of the Hipparion (K) Seekers of the Sun tribe on Balmung. If not, a Google docs? potentially have a Skype text chat for keeping up in real time? answer "lore" questions - see list below Lore Questions: What is the status of the hipparion, the creature? Do they still exist or not? Leftover from ancient times when the K tribe was born? What is the role of nunhs in this tribe? What are their responsibilities besides makin' babies - are they active parents or no? any other questions you want to add! Feel free to add any points anywhere, pose more questions, etc. I tried to organize my thoughts and what I read in the other thread, but I'm sure there's leftover info.

Haha, there's so many of us now, this may be a good idea! Though considering how varied the stories are, we may want to consider making it an OOC linkshell used to just organize RP and chat. [edit] What about "Hipparion" for the name? Yeah, that's what I was thinking, we can use it as OOC to organize stuff and take it from there. And Hipparion sounds good! Do we need a site or anything? Or at least a linkshell post on these forums?

Do you guys think we should make some sort of Linkshell for the tribe? I think it might be a great way to keep in touch with each other.

Okay! Just got home from work, so now I have time to have a look at the tree and try to put myself in somewhere. I have a question, though, and if nobody's for it that would be totally okay. But I was wondering if you guys would consider using R? I know the poll says K, but I just wanted to make sure - I'm having trouble finding a good name. (K'aqsha has an... unfortunate sound, hahaha). People already acquainted with the character have prodded me to ask about keeping it. So, just leaving that out there, if you guys would consider it! If not that's cool. Okay, back to messing with this tree. Also - do you guys have skype? It might be useful to talk about this in some kind of real-time chat, as opposed to forums.

Huh, I didn't know there was a mumble! Where's the post for that? Is muble like skype chat? Or is it more talk based? Mumble is more about talking rather than typing. Skype is the place to go for pretty consistently active type-chatting, though.

Listening to this thread (I guess haha), I've actually started contemplating the idea of shifting my character's story around a bit to potentially work with you guys - if you'd have me. I don't mind dropping R' for K', and changing some of the established history from my profile (though I'm really attached to R'aqsha's mom and his daughter, even if they are NPCs - they have pics on my wiki), because I'm mostly just really interested in having people to RP tribal miqo'te with. As it stands, my character R'aqsha became a nunh because he was caught fooling around with a girl while still a tia, and it escalated into a challenge that ended up with him coming out on top as the new nunh. I've got a bunch of NPC mates and children, as well as his mother and aunt. But like I said, I'm mostly attached to his eldest daughter (who was the product of that woopsie) and his mom who is deceased - but taught him spear hunting. Ah, that's another thing - right now, his tribe is infamous for their spear hunting abilities, but there's also a section within the tribe of girls (and R'aqsha) who hang around the city to dance for money and steal shit from people. But I saw a connection with K' from the fact they inhabit the Sagolii desert, which is R'aqsha's home as well.

You might know K'araqi Nunh from... Ul'dah - you've watched him and / or the women of his tribe dance in the streets Ul'dah - you've been pickpocketed by a very young miqo'te at any point (particularly if watching the dancers) - that'd be one of his daughters, K'ali Araqi Ul'dah - you've been outside the southern gates, and noted that there's a series of tents set up that serves as a temporary home for those of the Hipparion tribe that are currently in the city Sagolii Desert - you've wandered the desert, along the marked roads or otherwise; you may see a Hipparion tribe settlement similar to the one outside the gates, seen them hunting, or saw a part of them traveling to and from Ul'dah

I'm part of a sub-section of the Raptor tribe (R') that dwells in the Sagolii desert and is known for their spear hunting. I've got a slew of NPCs I made up that form the tribe, although they're still pretty small in number - if you're interested in reading more about 'em, there's info in my character's wiki page. I don't have contact with any of the other R' miqo'te that are listed on the wiki though, looks like they have different backstories. I'm willing to collaborate and join forces though, but it looks like you've got some K' plans brewing. x3
