1. We draw some XAELA BOYS
2. We might do that in the future and had a conversation about where to host it initially prior to setting this all up but the characters that were ICly hosting are Steppe bound. Think of it like this: Japanese people set up cultural events in other countries where foreigners can come and participate in unique traditions like tea ceremonies, wearing kimono, learning about shinto and history etc. etc. but if you're interested in learning the most about Japan you'd take a trip to the actual country and look for events that welcomed foreigners! That's what this was, a group of xaela wanting to share a cultural sport with visitors to foster understanding and exchange.
3. I didn't say you were criticising it. I'm adding clarity and extra commentary to the points you raised.
4. That's pretty much why we picked Reunion-ish. Reunion is a place set up specifically where anyone can come, xaela or not. The NPCs there are very friendly to outsiders for the most part - even the ding dong character trying to sell weapons is mildly tolerated despite his shenanigans. However fighting is disallowed so we went just outside of Reunion which was great! Partly because the Steppe is a higher level questing zone and we needed a place where mobs were not going to spawn. Who knows? I encourage people to do an Eorzean tournament! Someone could say their xaela is a bit homesick, bokh is a hobby of theirs and they want to share it with their new friends. Boom. Done. Go you. I imagine everyone had their personal IC reasons for being there and I can't speak for attendees. But in the end I think we had about 50 people show up for this and if the community had a good time? Then I'm happy no matter how many people are going to get bent out of shape about how they personally interpret lore. The problem is is that we don't have a lot of it, and everyone is going to see it a little differently and fill in the blanks how they feel it should be done. But until SE publishes a three hundred page xaela almanac I'm proud of running this event and the people who came to it were great and I'm happy, in my opinion, that it was as lore accurate ICly as we could make it. 10/10 experience would host again.
5. Hi Zhu I RP Alakhai Qalli and was one of the organisers for this so let me answer your concerns thusly: Characters involved have been around a while - I am sure that some of the participants and spectators have Eorzean friends but that was actually the point of this event - to foster foreign relations by sharing a Xaela pasttime and significant cultural event with outsider friends amongst the PCs present. I don't think it matters if the vast majority of the Steppe's residents would shake their heads at such tomfoolery because it's a player led event for players. Again, reiterating, the entire point of the event was to foster outside friendships and it not be race-specific.
6. Elves elves elves elves elves commissions.
7. Just as a note my FC unfortunately decided to close down. I made some lovely friends there but what can you do? Anyway, this means I am fully amenable to having your FC thrown at me! Please also now send me your recruitment links!
8. Not my character. Hair is fun. I am a liar.
9. I concur! I love seeing other Lalafell out and about. There needs to be more of us.
10. Susubi Subi Hey guys thanks for dropping by my thread! I am looking to make some connections for my pastel coloured, dry humoured Dunesfolk Lalafell. Hailing from Ul'dah, she was born into a wealthy merchant family that, after her father's death, fell to ruin at the hands of her unscrupulous elder brother who has since disappeared. With her elderly, sweet, but ultimately clueless mother to take care of, Susubi has taken a break from her study at the Arcanist's Guild in order to pursue earning the gil required to keep her remaining parent with a roof over her head. A task that is not as easy as it sounds. If you would like to know more about Susubi: - Her wiki entry can be found here! - - And here is her tag on my tumblr! - I am interested in: in-game RP, Discord RP, Linkshells. Therefore! You might know Susubi if: • You are an arcanist who worked at the guild over the past few years. • Or literally anyone else who worked with the guild on a job. • You had any business dealings with her father. • ...Or any 'business dealings' with her brother. • Hired her for something in the past. I am pretty much open to all avenues of RP at the moment! The only thing I am not looking for is an FC as I already have one and it is very nice. So my FC decided to close its doors so I am open to recruitment here too. Please do hit me up by PMing me here on the forum OR throwing me a line on Discord at Hixxi#2706 if you'd prefer!
11. She uhh...has a lot of feelings about Gridania. None of them are very positive.
12. I have not ever encountered one personally, however, if you crave Duskwight RP my main lady is a duskie and it would be lovely for her to know more.
13. Wow it's been ten thousand years since I posted on here have some xaela for my incompetence.
14. Welp now that the levelling experience is over for Alakhai I can concentrate on finding myself some roleplay over on Balmung! I’d love to make some new friends and establish some plots with folk on my Xaela lady, thusly I’m putting out this post as a way for people to potentially reach out. So who is Alakhai Qalli? Alakhai is a young woman who, despite belonging to the ‘Songbirds of the Steppe’, rather fancies herself more of a yol than a canary. Whilst she loves learning dance and music and, like all her people, carries with her a beautiful singing voice, Alakhai has made a point of learning the art of the spear and thusly has left home on a grand adventure to prove herself as a warrior. She is a kindly soul at heart, full of quiet passions and accompanied by a prominant sense of humour. But she also has a short temper and angers easily, especially if she feels her honour has been laid low. In general she’s more of a genteel ‘chaotic neutral’ type of character - she is quite happy to sit and listen to stories and sing Qalli ballads, but she does not believe in holding back with actions or words and cares little for the law outside of the Steppe; Alakhai likes to be able to do and say whatever she likes. That said, she’s not on the lookout for trouble at all, nor does she actively seek disruption. As far as she sees it, she is a razor sharp leaf on the wind that travels as she pleases and cuts down those in her way. You Might Know Alakhai If: You’re a Xaela of the Azim Steppe. Or even a fellow Qalli! You hang out at Reunion. You sailed across to Eorzea fairly recently and perhaps were on the same merchant vessel as her. Or met her in Kugane extremely briefly. You frequent bars in Limsa Lominsa. You’ve hired her and her spear out for work. Or maybe have heard her sing at a campfire in exchange for coin somewhere in Eorzea. These are just fairly easy tags for ways to set up RP or links - honestly I’d be thrilled to meet RPers of all ilk! I’m available in game and through Discord at Hixxi#2706 so give me a shout! If you would like to read more about Alakhai, please click here to go to her tagged content on my blog! I hope to hear from you soon!
