Thank ye! I have a few to work on between this and tumblr so please no more for the moment!

Folk! I have a request. I want to try my hand at some screenshot edits but my problem is that I am pretty terrible at taking screenshots. SO. If you are sitting on a particularly nice screen of your character you don't mind me potentially butchering, please feel free to send to me and I will try and knock a few out. It would be helpful if it was in as high a resolution as possible! You can just PM me an imgur link or whatever is most convienient.

Tag your posts, tag your posts, oh my god, tag your posts. When I started my art tumblr I was really discouraged at first because no one was paying me any attention - I did not know tags were a thing. I try not to make them very specific. Something like 'screenshot' is going to be more visible than 'dunesfolk lalafell screenshot'. The other thing that has improved my rate of likes and reblogs is to submit posts to other popular tumblrs. There are lots out there that exist purely as aesthetic blogs or screenshot blogs or game blogs or writing or fanart blogs so if you submit some original content, you can check out similarly themed tumblrs and see if you can submit your link to them.

My top three tips for improvement would probably be: Never. Stop. Drawing. Use all the references! Life drawing classes are great! Seriously, I used to think that using references was cheating but umm ... how am I supposed to learn how to draw things if I don't know what they look like in real life? My art improved leaps and bounds when I started using references and took some life drawing classes! (Also I got faster). I still have a huge amount to learn but I don't think any artist is every truely happy and always wants to improve, haha. In other news, I made an eyebrow drawing tutorial this evening. It's very light but I hope it's useful:

I'm still a long way off where I want to be but you know, practice makes perfect and all that! Anyone can learn! Look at this garbage emo awful I was pulling off a few years back: Ugh. START DRAWING. NEVER STOP. PAINT ALL THE THINGS. I BELIEVE IN YOU.

balmung Wandering Healer Looking For Contacts
Hixxi replied to Hixxi's topic in Chronicled Connections
Ahhh okay so you are all so nice and I can't wait to hit you up in game - I was a bit disappointed last night trying to add people to my friends list to make it easier to nab someone for an OOC chat to arrange things when I realised you could only do it if they were online the same time as you! However I shall persist and I shall find you guys. -

That would have been the exact sort of thing that would have been good fun for me, haha, but do keep me in mind for future shenanigans! I will have a look at the linkshell too, because I don't imagine Sonelle visits cities an awful amount - people are more likely to get horribly murdered by kobolds elsewhere! -

Ahhh it is always nice to meet fellow UK people! I will take a good gander at the linkshells you suggested, so thank you kindly for that. Both look pretty good for the sort of RP I like to participate in, but reading must be done first. I like to be prepared. If I can catch you in game, I'll make sure to give you a nudge! -
Hello! I'm Hixxi, a newbie to FF but an experienced RPer who'd now like to pick up some roleplay in game with my Duskwight Elezen, Sonelle Cosseau. You can read more about Sonelle over at her wiki entry! But the general gist of things is that I'd like to pop around the world and RP healing folks up. She's a wandering surgeon/alchemist. SO. If you or your FC or event or what-have-you could use a temporary healer on duty, or maybe just would like the convienience of her just happening to be around after taking a particularly savage beating, I'd be super happy to pop Sonelle over to where you are. Since Sonelle travels about, it's totally okay for her to be pretty much wherever within reason. I'm also 110% open to just randomly bumping into people on the road, sharing camps, hanging out in settlements for whatever reason. All that good stuff. I am not looking for a Free Company right now. However I am totally up for people telling me all about their Linkshells because hey, I'm still very new and I'd like to make some friends and get in on some OOC chatter at the very least. Basically my aims are: To meet new people. Make new friends. RP with them. Generate some plots for Sonelle to be a part of. The only other thing that should perhaps be noted is that I'm on GMT time. Sort of. Essentially my working hours are evenings, so I run more to an EST timezone in reality despite being located in sunny old England. Anyway, if this sounds like your bag, or you have any ideas, please hit me up! I'd love to make some connections and new pals!

Hey I'm Hixxi. I'm a painter/graphic artist, although the latter is more of a hobby than anything else. This thread is a nicely organised dump for shared artistic suffering. Featuring but not limited to: Bad puns. Soul crushing screaming. Elves Elezen of all flavours. Fan art of games I will never play. A crippling addiction to Photoshop brushes. No one paying me to draw men because ??????

I. Basic Info Characters: Sonelle Cosseau. Primary character: Sonelle Cosseau. Linkshells: None. Primary RP linkshell: None. II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): I fall somewhere between medium and heavy. I'm not IC all the time and I do enjoy running dungeons and stuff, but RP is my main focus, and I will 110% pass up PvE content in favour of just sitting down and chatting in character at a campfire somewhere. Views on RP combat and injuries: Eorzea is a dangerous world and I feel like SOME combat would be inevitable but my character isn't a superbad warrior. I like fighting to be well ... as realistic as it can in a world with dragons and magic. I'm not looking for grimdark GoT levels, but I also don't really enjoy DBZ style over-the-top ridiculousness. Rolling is fine, although with people I know and trust I'd like to think we're well acquainted enough not to be silly. I'm fine with my character getting injured, but serious wounds like losing limbs etc. would have to be discussed OOCly beforehand. And I'll probably not agree. Views on IC romance: As long as OOC is kept OOC and IC is kept IC I have no problems with IC romance. I would, however, prefer to have this grow naturally through continued character interaction rather than just deciding it should happen and writing accordingly. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): SIGN ME UP. Just send me a little note if you want to write something together! I love getting involved and I'm totally up for long lost family members, old friends and enemies, folks Sonelle healed down the road etc. etc. Views on lore: I'm a newbie to FFXVI. I've learned a lot about lore and I'd like to keep as lore abiding as possible but I still have a fair way to go - please do not be afraid to correct me if I say something silly! That said, I'm not going to flip out over little headcanons and hey, creativity is awesome, just ... kept within reason. Views on chat functions: I like to keep my chat channels seperate depending on whether they are IC or OOC. Say and emote to me are, more or less, always in character. III. Other Info Country: England. Timezone: GMT. However my work hours pretty much put me on living an EST schedule. Contact info: Can be messaged here, in game or on skype if you fancy bugging me for my deets.

I'd rather not though. I would like to stay away from unreasonable, special snow-flakey situations and I'm not really super into RPing very powerful characters. I'm far more happy RPing a bog standard wandering alchemist with a penchant for healing potions. This is also very cool! Thank you very much for sharing That tinyurl link does sound like a great idea. I guess the biggest step for me now is thinking about WHO I want to RP.
-
Yes, that is what I read it as! MRP and TRP (TotalRolePlay) are both very popular RP add-ons for WoW. But really I can live without an equivalent. Everyone's RP profiles are really nice here on the forums.
-
Add ons are great but I'm more excited about the fact that the game devs took notice of RPers and added some functionality for them!

Where has this game been all my life?
-
Oooh, this game has a rolling system? That is very good information to know. I know there IS rolling but hadn't looked into whether or not it was a command or just something that automatically happened in dungeons for loot or whathaveyou. I actually really like having that little element to luck for RPing combat situations and stuff - I play a lot of tabletop. I think it's fun to describe my character totally duffing up when I get a bad roll. Oh no, my one weakness. Outfits. In regards to healers, I guess there is a huge amount of scope as to what I could RP, and that rent-a-heal linkshell is definitely the kind of concept I could get behind. But I want to spend more time seeing which character is my favourite before 'settling down' as it were. Someone mentioned having a RP Flag before and I would like to ask what this meant? Are there RP add ons for the game that I should know about or is this referring to something else? Thank you!
-
In regards to RPing professions rather than classes: this is definitely an option! But I've always super enjoyed healing type characters. But I think I could get away with doing even a surgeon or almost an alchemist type without relying on magic? That would also be very interesting and fun to RP! It is very good to know that WHM and other classes just don't work well in the setting from an RP perspective depending on what type of RPer you are. I guess the base classes you can choose at character creation are the standardised and more lore-friendly options, whereby a good portion of the higher level jobs are, as a general rule, unique to the 'hero' of the story and 'out of bounds' so to speak? Such as, for example, the WHM lore that has been explained to be on the thread. I thank you all for the time you guys have invested in providing really good information. Learning a new game that is so expansive is a bit daunting but it's always nice to have folks in communities that are newbie-friendly.
-
Wow thank you all for the very knowledgable responses and for answering my questions in such a detailed way. I have sooooo much reading to do, but I would love more detail on the place of the jobs in lore, that would be very helpful to know. For now I am reading around the racial lore collections. They're all so great. I want to RP all of them haha.

Hello! I'm Hixxi. I'm a very experienced RPer both online and offline, but I am very much new to FFXIV, it's community and lore! (Well, relatively speaking anyway.) I've spent the last couple of days reading around the game itself and learning the ropes, in part the information on this website which is really helpful for learning race stuff. I'm so excited to get to join in with RP! I do, however, have a couple of questions! 1. How many emphasis do people put on job importance? By this I mean, currently I'm levelling up a conjurer/arcanist so that I can turn her into a WHM. If I wanted to RP a White Mage though, is that OP? Are there certain jobs that, in the game, people tend to shy away from or raise an eyebrow at because, well, their place in the setting itself tends to make them very unique and it's not really reasonable that Joe Bob the Adventurer #51 would be one? I quite fancied RPing a travelling healer type, but whilst this might be feasible in other systems, would it be okay in FF? Would it perhaps make more sense to stick to RPing a conjurer? 2. What sort of IC reactions should characters have to other races? One of the things I've liked from games in the past that offer multiple races, is that sometimes the game tailors its NPC responses to what the player is. I haven't really seen any of that in FF thus far which isn't bad, because I can understand how this could make the game way heavier to design, but it doesn't provide me with a very good base for IC reactions. Should the two elezen clans normally be a bit cagey and aggressive towards each other? Do the Au Ra look down upon one another for being so different? Do people reflect this in their character actions for the most part? Thank you very much for reading. I hope to be gaming with you on Balmung soon! :tonberry:
