Hi there,

my name is Celia, and I'm new to RPing in FFXIV. I've done freeform stuff on the internet in the past, but this is my first experience with MMOs and my first time roleplaying in one. I don't know how active I'll be on RP characters, since my main is something I play with IRL friends and I don't really want to mix worlds too much. Still, I'm excited to meet people and have some fun together.

--MMORPG background

FFXIV is my first MMO, but I've been playing for a few months, mostly as tank. On my main, my FC has cleared 2nd coil and is working on FCOB now, so I like to think that I know my way around the game fairly well. Still, I plan to use RP characters to explore other sides of things, so we'll see where that goes.

--RP experience

I've been RPing in various places online for about as long as I can remember being on the internet. While I've left some truly embarrassing writing in the forums of long-dead fansites, I haven't been super active in any public places more recently.

--Character ideas/info

Currently my RP character is Yavi'li Yhigmi, a Keeper Miqo'te and apprentice conjurer. Being a younger son of a large family, he decided to try and make his way in the outside world, rather than competing with his elder (and, he fears, stronger) siblings for smaller pieces of his clan's little space in the forest. He takes to healing pretty naturally but is sometimes a little uneasy with the actions taken by the allied city-states, especially when it comes to their relations to the beast-tribes.

--How did you learn about the coalition?

google, actually. I was curious what sort of RP community there was for the game and this was seemed like a good place to start.

--What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy?

I suppose medium? I'm not going to insist that every in-game interaction also be in character, but I do want to stick fairly closely to the game's lore and setting, and I'm not going to shy away from storylines involving serious content.

 

So my question for all of y'all veterans is this: what's a good thing to do now? Where should I begin on this site/in game if I'm interested in finding some people to start playing with or coming up with plots and things?

Briefly I would check out the linkshell listings and find some that take your fancy, especially the ones not associated with any one faction. Also go to the events that are posted here, that's a great way to meet people.

 

Other than that just jump right in on things, we are a nice community that will give you hugs and cake and help.
