ChewableMorphine Posted March 25, 2015 Share #2 Posted March 25, 2015 http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/pr/special/2_5_Before_the_Fall/ishgard/#patch DEFEND, DEFEND, DEFEND So is this a trial or a survival type raid? Link to comment
Oscare Posted March 25, 2015 Share #3 Posted March 25, 2015 Yeah, I'm personally confused too. :< I don't see a lot of information about this anywhere. A little clarification would be good. Unless, you know, there is no clarification. In which case you may kindly skip this post. Link to comment
Jana Posted March 25, 2015 Share #4 Posted March 25, 2015 I'm assuming it's just going to be Before the Fall story-related duty we need to clear to be able to access Ishgard come 3.0, but it's just an assumption. Link to comment
Dat Oni Posted March 25, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted March 25, 2015 Okay, best sweep the vagueness aside, then. It appears to be a new Trial-esque instance, with a focus on defending a specific point against attackers. I like that idea, because up until now, it's always been about us going through a dungeon to kill something, or meeting at a specific point...to kill something. This looks like it could be less of a standard epic confrontation deal, with failure/success dependent more on our ability to protect key targets than just our mere survival. That's what I've gathered from this collection of screens and description, anyroad. Link to comment
Chris Ganale Posted March 25, 2015 Share #6 Posted March 25, 2015 But it's an instance we're doomed to fail anyway. And given that failure is without question the outcome, how are they going to explain our characters not dying horribly in the defense of the bridge? Unless they put us in the body of Random Mook #327. That could be fun. Link to comment
Kellach Woods Posted March 25, 2015 Share #7 Posted March 25, 2015 That we're not given the position to say "Nah, Ishgarde can burn. Y'all reap what you sow." is one of the few things I dislike about this game. I personally think you're giving SE too much credit. They put too much emphasis on Vishap. My guess is that the clear happens when Vishap falls, but the chief corps of the Dravinians still smashes through. You just prevented Vishap from actually living through the fight and wrecking everything else. Link to comment

I absolutely love how huge everything in that picture is. Although, I can see that dragon giving me the same problem Cloud of Darkness does, but worse. "Where is she? I still don't see her, she should be here by... OH WAIT, I'M INSIDE OF HER." *vrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt* *Ryoko is disintegrated by the laser* Link to comment
