Surreal Posted May 29, 2015 Share #1 Posted May 29, 2015 My colleagues and I are conducting research to help increase others’ understandingof the relevance of MMORPGs like FFXIV to businesses – focusing on your decisions as individuals in the game and how they affect your performance and the performance of your Free Company. We hope to increase businesses’ knowledge of virtual team performance and demonstrate thatMMORPGs are a great place to study this in action. So, if you are now or have ever been a member of a Free Company in FFXIV, hop on over to our survey and share your wisdom with us! As a bonus you can enter for a chance to win one of two PS4 Heavensward Collector’s Editions™. Tell your FFXIV pals – all active players who have ever been in a FFXIV FreeCompany are welcome to participate! The survey closes on June 12, 2015. https://siue.co1.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_eXrEj5zOaM75tcN Link to comment
Erik Mynhier Posted May 29, 2015 Share #2 Posted May 29, 2015 Well we are friends in it, this is a third incarnation, the first was total professional, the second all "friends", this version has been active for many months now when most of the old members left and new blood joined. This one I feel is the best of the three. I was much more selective in members, sitting down with each new member before allowing them to come out of our trial rank. I have rules now that were not there before, but who's absence lead to trouble we had. As I sit with each new member I explain the rules and go over the meta-story and what is expected of them. We are a much better machine now I think, getting things done much more efficently, and also being much more helpful to new members. I closely watch for and break up cliques which helps a lot to avoid future trouble. Its now very much a unit atmosphere and less a "family" atmosphere which lead to r resistance to new members and players. All friends, but not so intertwined that we cant move independently or add new people into the mix. I'm not really sure what else you would want to know. What sort of data are you after? We would appreciate you taking the time to complete the survey and tell your friends about it. We'll be sharing our results as soon as we can. Let me know if you have other questions! Link to comment

Surreal Posted May 29, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted May 29, 2015 What is the planned use of this research and the data? Hi Telluride, I'll be working with my colleagues to analyze the data and write up the results for presentation at conferences, as well as publication in academic journals and business practitioner journals. Thanks for asking! Link to comment
Melkire Posted May 29, 2015 Share #6 Posted May 29, 2015 [Moderator Hardhat] Bit of a grey area, but technically speaking this violates a couple of forum rules here on RPC. Notably this one: Section 7 - Advertising • Making an account only to advertise your product/service. I'll have to lock this thread. Apologies. That said, seeing as how this appears mainly academic, I will be leaving it up for viewing unless another moderator decides against it. We'll have to, at some point, revisit the subject of surveys and whether they're okay on these boards. Alas, transitional period for the site. [/Moderator Hardhat] Link to comment
