Yunas13 Posted July 19, 2015 Share #1 Posted July 19, 2015 Hey guys! Alright, I don't know if you all have this problem but I'm sort of in a slight character pickle and I need help!:? I've got two characters now as you both know. My main, Serenity Lightdragon, and my alt, Althena Lightdragon. I've been playing my main lately and I keep thinking of Althena, who is a level 26 THM, 13 WVR and 13 GSM. I love her, I really do, but I'm thinking of all I've gotta do to get her on the same level as Serenity. Serenity is another story. She still has a lot of work to have done and I love her just as much. Both look the same except one has blonde hair (My Sailor Moon Tribute) and the other has lavender hair, both have the exact same hairstyle and the same race. Althena is the alt that I'm leveling to learn the game's story again. My question, how do you play multiple characters or if you did once have multiple characters, how did you decide to go down to one?? Or am I thinking too hard? (Not sure if this goes here, but thanks for reading!) Link to comment
Enla Posted July 19, 2015 Share #2 Posted July 19, 2015 I level my alts only as far as I feel RP will lead them and then that's it until I finally get everything to 60 on Enla. I know some people who dedicated each character to a specific role, but it's much easier for me to zerg one class to 50 or 60 for an alt and then ignore them until everything is done on my main. This game is really, REALLY, not alt friendly... Link to comment
Kurt S. Posted July 20, 2015 Share #3 Posted July 20, 2015 Echoing Enla's sentiment, that's probably the best way yet if you're playing multiple characters. Level the alt to wherever you need them for RP. However, if you can really tolerate doing the same thing over and over again. I sometimes switch when my main's rested exp bonus is all used up. Use up the alt's rested exp then switch back to main. Back and forth but it really runs a high risk of burning you out. Link to comment
banndsand Posted July 20, 2015 Share #4 Posted July 20, 2015 Like Enla, I try to get my characters to a point where they make sense for where I want them IC... but I don't always stick with that. My characters have very different roles gameplay-wise, so I often play what I feel like doing that day and I don't end up switching until I've run out of rested XP. At this point I'm not even sure if I have a main. I always crave variety (in gameplay as well as IC behavior) so I switch characters too often for my own good. It's not very efficient and it can get confusing when it comes to FCs and such, so I guess I'm not a great example to follow. I used to play two more characters but have recently retired them to keep the number maxed at 4. Thankfully I'm still using them as background material to build my remaining characters who were related. Link to comment
Yunas13 Posted July 20, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted July 20, 2015 I am sad to say I don't RP on the server I'm on. I spend my time online talking with my FC members, doing the HW MSQ and roulettes or working on Althena. I fully intended to write a fanfiction about FFXIV and the characters I created but writer's block is in full force. I'm going back to what I know and that is doing anime fanfiction/crossover fanfiction. I've recently got inspired and hopefully I can get a story going but I don't want to jinx it. My plan when I remade her (deleted her once before) was to level the caster classes on her as my main focus but lately I got inspired to make Althena based off Sailor Saturn, she is a character that wields a glaive as her weapon of choice, but when I made her I fell in love with her appearance, she is the prettiest character I've made. I love Sailormoon/Sailor Moon Crystal and it was the show that started my love of anime and fanfiction writing. Link to comment

I don't know if crossovers will work too well in the face of game canon, but there's a spot for just writing. Link to comment
Yunas13 Posted July 20, 2015 Author Share #7 Posted July 20, 2015 I've always been told write what you want to write and what you know. I've put the alt character to the side till I figure out what I wish to do with her and I'm just going to focus on my main from now on. The crossover idea will be like a normal fanfiction just from the point of view of the main character of chosen anime. The alt will be included along with any other characters I've made in my time on this game. heehee. I want to start writing and I think this is the best route to go as all other ways I've tried haven't gone anywhere. Thank you everyone who has read and replied. Link to comment

I've seen posts for RP and character development but not actual writing. Please direct me to said posts! Link to comment
