Kylin Posted June 17, 2010 Author Share #26 Posted June 17, 2010 According to a recently translated Famitsu article, the next testing phase begins in about one month. Tanaka: The beta version we're showing at E3 is nearly complete and should be ready to be made public soon. Currently, we're still debugging. Once alpha tests finish this week and we return to Japan, we will begin preparations for the start of beta testing. It's not set in stone, but I think I'll need to make everyone wait for one more month. Edit: In addition, Sony has apparently added FF14 to PS3's "Greatest Hits" list already >.> Link to comment

Kylin Posted June 17, 2010 Author Share #29 Posted June 17, 2010 Due to the fact that anything could go wrong during beta, we likely won't get a release date until about 1-2 months beforehand at most. If your score is anything less than 1,500, you probably won't be able to play the game too well. Especially when you factor in server lag (and there will be lag in the beginning since everyone will be crammed into the starting zones). My low score of 200 is no doubt a result of my not-so-updated graphics card but not sure if that's the same for anyone else with low scores. I'd suggest downloading all the latest drivers on your card's site if you haven't yet (some of the new drivers were literally just released yesterday). If you still get less than 1,500, you'll likely either need to upgrade for a better play experience or focus on the PS3 version for now. SE said before that this would be a high end game and it's clearly resetting graphical standards for PC. I have a feeling a lot of people are going to have to start on PS3 as a result (no way I can afford $300-500 upgrades right now lol). Also, the interview about beta I posted above was apparently botched. Not the first time Core has botched such translations so I wouldn't be surprised >.>. Here's what people are saying the actual beta response was: -- So when will the beta test begin? [Tanaka] The version we're showing now has pretty much all the systems it should; I think it'll be ready shortly. We're currently debugging and such. The plan is to temporarily end the alpha test this week and immediately begin preparing to start the beta test upon returning to Japan. There might be a gap, but I don't think you'll have to wait a month. Obviously, that last line makes a huge difference. Meaning it'll be -less- than a month before the next phase. Also, alpha testers: These next few tests are apparently your last so use them wisely (though I think you get to move on to the next beta phase)! Link to comment
Sunny Dove Posted June 17, 2010 Share #30 Posted June 17, 2010 Thanks for notifying us of new drivers out Cas. I was able to update my card and gained about 200 score on each test. At least I know on medium-low settings I should have a fluid experience. I think I'm still going to upgrade my card to a Geforce GTX 470. I only own an xbox 360 so why mess with a PS3 when I can buy the 2nd best nvidia card for the same price and have a better experience? Heh. Link to comment

It looks like your video card needs upgraded. Other than that, the processor and RAM will easily be able to handle the load. Link to comment
DAISHI Posted June 17, 2010 Share #32 Posted June 17, 2010 Yeah the card itself isn't great, but I mean... my computer has handled everything at max display without a hitch unto now. I can run games like Dead Space or Bioshock 2 but not FFXIV ? Link to comment
Kylin Posted June 17, 2010 Author Share #33 Posted June 17, 2010 Eorzepedia had an interview session with SE and asked some surprisingly pointed questions where we actually got some straight answers on some things >.>. http://www.eorzeapedia.com/2010/06/17/e ... -kurosawa Good info on names/surnames (and how to send tells to people), a real answer to the male miqo'te and female roegadyn issue, and the New York Times clearly doesn't research anything before asking questions! Aveline Posted June 18, 2010 Share #34 Posted June 18, 2010 Yeah alpha testers are included in all future tests as well. It's interesting that they have suddenly and without any question from the press dropped the Alpha 2 phase they had talked about in previous interviews.. Link to comment

I can run games like Dead Space or Bioshock 2 but not FFXIV ? [/quote'] Hey it may function just fine. Get the game or borrow from a friend and then see how it runs on your system. But think of this... the game has to run on the PS3. So is the PS3 made of: Graphics: Geforce 7900GT w/ 256 RAM RAM: 256MB XDR DRAM Processor: 3.2Ghz utilizing 6 cores for 204GFLOPS! (PCs only get roughly 30-50GFLOPS from low grade to high). Link to comment
DAISHI Posted June 18, 2010 Share #36 Posted June 18, 2010 I know what you're saying. I'm not a NeWb to computers and hardware but still I'm like... really? *sigh* Alright new vid card... you got me. Link to comment
Varov Posted June 18, 2010 Share #37 Posted June 18, 2010 A new video card and processor could buy 2 PS3's, no doubt. I'll likely wait a little while and get the game for PS3 and fold in, buy the system. It's only like 300 dollars now, right? Link to comment
Guest Posted June 19, 2010 Share #38 Posted June 19, 2010 Unless they start bundling to make it more. Mwahahahahah Link to comment

Varov Posted June 27, 2010 Share #42 Posted June 27, 2010 I popped my case open and found that the heat damage on my heatsink around the CPU was so bad... So I rebuilt the computer a little bit. My monitor doesn't support the Hi-Res size, so I ran it on low rez and I got 2971. Which is so stupid. God, they really need to cut the windowed mode out. Nanapariri Posted July 4, 2010 Share #43 Posted July 4, 2010 I just screen-captured the moogle: Wewwwwt. Still not as impressive to me as the FFXI trailer, with the destruction of Tavnazia, but I guess this will have to do. I think we might just have solved the "child with horns" question. That young boy sure looks like he has horns to me and there was a slioute of something else that looked horned to me also in the vid. Perhaps there is a horned race that will act as story NPC? Saitou Posted July 4, 2010 Share #44 Posted July 4, 2010 I have the feeling the "child with horns" is most likely one of the Seedseers from Gridania. Link to comment
