Ul'dah Gladiator - Any Resources

I was looking to make an alt that's a Gladiator in Ul'dah, but I realised I don't really know the ins-and-outs of it very well. Is there any real lore on how it all works? Are the matches to the death? First blood? That kind of thing.

 

If anyone could point me at something I could have a read of that might help, I'd appreciate it!
