lllogically Posted December 16, 2015 Share #1 Posted December 16, 2015 So, my Seeker of the Sun doesn't follow the general naming conventions of miqo'te. Her first name is actually normally seen in an Au Ra female, Shar, while her last name derives from her job, Swiftsong. The thing I had imagined was that Shar was lost as a newborn/couple year old miqo'te in Doma while her tribe-less mother traveled with her. Of course the young miqo'te female was found by a Raen clan Au Ra couple who decided to take her in. The two of them gave her the name Shar for her to take on as she lived with them. While she lived in Doma, her full name was Shar Motokawa since she technically couldn't have a surname since her family wasn't of the ruling or warrior class. Many years passed before Shar decided to leave Doma and go to Eorzea to become an adventurer, it's here where she became a Bard and decided to take Swiftsong as her surname. Does that sound like a good idea for the story behind the name? Please, feel free to critique and leave suggestions on your thoughts about this. ^^ Link to comment
LiadansWhisper Posted December 16, 2015 Share #2 Posted December 16, 2015 I personally don't see why it would be an issue. But trust me, someone will always find an issue with whatever you do. As long as the story makes sense, I don't think it's worth worrying about. Link to comment
Warren Castille Posted December 17, 2015 Share #3 Posted December 17, 2015 go to Eorzea to become an adventurer, it's here where she became a Bard and decided to take Swiftsong as her surname. This is the only relevant part in what you wrote, really. Your character chose their name, and that's good enough for anyone. It was an in-character decision to switch to that, so no one can really argue about the lore around it; It's a handpicked name! Link to comment
