Tami Posted March 25, 2016 Share #1 Posted March 25, 2016 z4ifSSg1HAo Hey. I'm Tami. While this isn't my first time hopping onto FFXIV and trying to get some roleplay out of it (a little over a year ago I gave it my first shot, and loved it, but couldn't at the time afford a recurring subscription) I'm pretty out of the loop. The last time I gave it a go I struggled to find people to roleplay with, so I'm hoping to make that different this time around by bunkering down at a community and introducing myself a little. Taking initiative. So, if you'd like to get to know me, I guess a good place to start would be with my prior roleplay experience. I've been roleplaying here and there for a good few years (about five) and writing stories and tidbits for longer. Writing is a passion for me, it's what I love to do in my spare time. I've never settled down at an MMO and roleplayed, though, which is why the setup with FFXIV has been throwing me off. One friend tried to get me involved in a private WoW server once, but it didn't really work out. I'm not really a fan of WoW, anyways. Truthfully, I'm not a huge megafan of Final Fantasy either. Not to say I don't like it, but I'm pretty inexperienced with the Final Fantasy series. I played the beginning of Final Fantasy 7 on the original Playstation. That's it. I couldn't get past the first boss fight, and in youthful impatience, gave up on the game. That was the end of my Final Fantasy 'career' until a little over a year ago, when someone I was roleplaying with elsewhere insisted I give FFXIV a go and bought me a subscription. I liked it a lot, and while I never really got into the roleplay scene (though I did spend far too many hours saving up for a Spring Skirt for my character, which isn't worth nearly as much now as it used to be) I enjoyed the setting a lot. I used to write a lot of Fantasy stuff, and while lately I've been leaning into the Sci-Fi scene a bit more, I still love Fantasy. I'm not too familiar with the lore of Final Fantasy, though. Most of what I picked up playing through last time I forgot over my year long absence. My character suits my ignorance, I'm planning on pinning her as a citybound farmer's daughter so she wouldn't know a lot about the world either. But I'm not sure how farmlife in FFXIV would differ from your traditional fantasy setting, so any pointers there right off the bat would be helpful. While I'm not really playing FFXIV for the game itself, but more the RP community, I'm still open to Dungeon Crawling (though forewarning, my character is only level 30 at the time of posting). I need to make as much money OOC as I can so I can afford an assortment of cosmetic outfits for roleplay (there's a lot more outfits now than there was when I gave it a go last!) so any ways of earning in-game currency are things I'll be gunning for when there's no roleplay going on. Lastly, I don't have a lot of spare time. I'm not going to splurge the details all over the thread, but I'm semi-busy. I'll try and be on as much as I can, but please don't be offended if I have to suddenly excuse myself because of something. I've had trouble with this in the past, where people take it personally. It's not personal. :] So, hopefully this works out, and I can get a fair bit of RP out of FFXIV. Nice to meet you all. Link to comment
Silinat Posted March 25, 2016 Share #2 Posted March 25, 2016 First, love the music. Second, welcome back. I would be happy to rp with you or do a dungeon crawl any time. My main character is Isetaari Nuru but I have oodles of alts as well. Good luck and have fun! Link to comment
Kuus Goose Posted March 26, 2016 Share #3 Posted March 26, 2016 hOi, Tami \'w'/ It's great that you're putting yourself out there and taking initiative. It can be hard to find RP contact; and communities help with that, definitely. You seem like you're good with words, and that also helps a ton. Am looking forward to roleplaying with you! Yssen Posted March 26, 2016 Share #4 Posted March 26, 2016 Hello and welcome! One of the neat parts of Final Fantasy is that you really do not have to have that much familiarity with the rest of the series to understand and individual setting. The series more transfers over familiar concepts (jobs, enemies, spells and abilities, etc.) and places them in a different setting each game. My biggest suggestion is to devour the lore specific to the character/concept you are thinking of playing rather than all of it at once. There is a LOT of lore out there and it can be daunting (particularly when you get to the stuff that contradicts the other stuff). Feel free to PM me if you have any questions or what not, and make sure to look over some of the threads here on the forum. Soussy and others have done a good job compiling specific pieces of lore together. Look it over and ask questions! Welcome welcomes again, hope to see you in zee game. ^ ^ Link to comment
K'coca Razbe Posted March 26, 2016 Share #6 Posted March 26, 2016 Hi!, I would say don't try and get all the FF lore as all the games are self contained. As 4 a starting place in 14 I would go with what is important for your race & class at least that's what I do :dodgy: Any way just have fun and good luck! Link to comment
Tami Posted March 26, 2016 Author Share #7 Posted March 26, 2016 Boy, this is a bummer. So, starting this morning I've been having video card problems. Monitor won't turn on, but it works with my old computer, etc. So just out the gates, looks like I'll be taking a break. Hopefully I'll have it all sorted out before my sub runs out. Link to comment

Tami Posted March 26, 2016 Author Share #10 Posted March 26, 2016 Got a new computer lol. Ordered online, it'll be here April 5th-7th and it'll take me a few days to download the game again, but I'll be back soon, and I'll probably dip my toes into forum stuff and settle in a little more while I wait. So I'm not going anywhere just yet. :] Link to comment
