I agree that would be nice but I think the reason we can't is so bots can't mail us their advertisements. I still remember GW2... Yeah, the bots with their spam would be a tad annoying (it's pretty bad on SWTOR) but ffxiv is pretty decent about removing bots on Balmung. It would be a decent trap for them so long as there was a report spam button on the mail. Link to comment

I'd be fine with "friends list only" mail iff friend requests could: - be sent offline and it'd be nice if friend requests could also: - include a short (like 32 character) note about the purpose behind the friend request That would be nice.
