TheShadowsOfVanity Posted March 26, 2017 Share #1 Posted March 26, 2017 I'm really lost on my character wiki. Using Glioca V2 and I have all my text edited and such things, but the Relationships tab and all after it (even the Credits Tab, which I never edited) don't show anything. If I go into page edit, then preview it will show the content, but not when I browse to it! If someone(s) could pop over to Alaisia Bloodsong on RPC and help me out, I would really, REALLY appreciate it! Attatched is a picture of how the relationship tab looks under preview Link to comment
Unnamed Mercenary Posted March 26, 2017 Share #2 Posted March 26, 2017 It looks like there's a mangled tag (or more) causing some display issues. I'll poke through to see if I can pinpoint it. This happens often with the fancier-looking templates as they contain a lot of HTML which is not the most wiki-friendly thing. Link to comment
Unnamed Mercenary Posted March 26, 2017 Share #3 Posted March 26, 2017 There's... a lot of broken HTML tags mixed with wiki code in this. Were you by any chance removing sections or lines sections from the template? This particular template mixes a lot of wikitables with HTML tables in tables in tables. (Which looks nice in your browser, but is a nightmare to keep track of in code). The only things I could really suggest at this point because I'm not the one who made this template is to either copy it over fresh and add your edits back in piece by piece in the appropriate sections or to try a simpler template. Editing in a text editor like Notepad++ set to HTML mode for highlighting and syntax may help too! That way, you can trace the tags back to where they should start/end visually. Link to comment
Unnamed Mercenary Posted March 26, 2017 Share #4 Posted March 26, 2017 Specifically, the history and relationships sections are the ones with broken tags. Removing those sections made the wiki display without issue. You might be able to get away with recopying over those sections from the original template. I'm gonna see if I can do this for you while keeping your edits in. Link to comment
Unnamed Mercenary Posted March 26, 2017 Share #5 Posted March 26, 2017 OK. I think I got it stable. Wikitables in the history section have been replaced with their div tag titles and a spoiler block. For some reason, wikitables in that section were causing the rest of the page to fail rendering. Link to comment
Reiko Relanah Posted March 26, 2017 Share #6 Posted March 26, 2017 All this is why I am just making a plan normal page hehe Link to comment
TheShadowsOfVanity Posted March 26, 2017 Author Share #7 Posted March 26, 2017 Ah thanks so much! I'll be very careful editing from there forward for the rumors and such! I really appreciate the help...though I think I understand the issue now. THe original template had four different wikitable options, and when I tried to insert the one I wanted I might not have copied in the right stuff Link to comment
Unnamed Mercenary Posted March 26, 2017 Share #8 Posted March 26, 2017 Most wikicode is secretly just HTML that gets dressed up and turned into shortcuts. Sometimes it conflicts with the other HTML there or the wiki software gets hung up trying to figure out which text to substitute code for. In any case, it looks to be ok now, but I'd be careful with those tables! They can be pretty tricky! Link to comment
