zaviire Posted April 13, 2017 Share #1 Posted April 13, 2017 I was entrusted with the task of finding some law enforcement connections for a story arc that I’ve gotten involved with with two other friends! The basic gist of it is that murder charges are getting pressed against one of the characters -- Leonnaux's s/o to be exact -- so logically that would result in an investigation. Depending on how said investigation goes there might be more, potentially veering into the territory of a trial -- but that all can be worried about later!. I could NPC it out if I wanted to but as with the Ebonguard stuff below, it’s much more interesting to get other players involved! Text Discord is required for ease of communication but I highly doubt we’ll be using voice because at least two of us get wires crossed when we try to write and talk at the same time. If you're interested in throwing us a bone, let me know either in this thread or via PM and I'll toss you my Discord username. And if you'd like me to gush about the situation in full, I'm always down for PM's! Because the story takes place solely in Thanalan, I’m only looking for Ul’dah law enforcement for this particular story: Brass Blades preferred, but proper Immortal Flames also work. Also, anyone who would volunteer to investigate the case is more than welcome since I mean the Blades are basically sellswords anyway, so there probably isn’t any rule against private citizens helping in the investigation if they’re useful and the price is right. BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE! Oh yes! Ebonguard is seeking individuals and organizations interested in being… [*]ALLIES. Ebonguard might just be a network instead of being a proper organization, but I figure that wouldn’t preclude the possibility of it gathering a few non-members who knowingly support or participate in its activities either passively (not reporting like all of them to the damn police/turning a blind eye to members’ individual operations) or actively (supplying information, routes, actively providing sanctuary or neutral ground to members even if selectively). Reasoning could range from being like, “hey, no skin off my teeth” to “I might be able to use this to my advantage later” and beyond I mean, I’m not going to tell you how to live your life. This wouldn’t even necessarily have to be a new thing; lore-wise, Ebonguard has existed in a few forms and the current one is just the newest… Though not necessarily the most productive. I’d be more than happy to pre-establish a connection if it suits all parties involved. [*]ENEMIES. The network, veering generally toward the illegal side of things, would probably garner a fair share of enemies, from vigilantes to actual law enforcement organizations and the people who’d commission them to investigate the network. I’m planning on getting an incredibly loose “main” story started and sticking strictly to NPC villains gets a bit boring and predictable (at least in my opinion, with regards to watching, playing, or running events) so at various points we’d love to bring other players in! This could easily be a pre-established thing too, as with above; there’s room for it within our framework at the very least and the possibilities are endless. There’s no required national affiliation for Ebonguard connections because of how loose the network is; some of us (both in terms of actual members and lore background stuff) are pretty far-flung, but I’d prefer Ul’dah or Gridania just as a matter of preference, since almost all of the events I plan/run are based in Thanalan or the Black Shroud. Wanna know what Ebonguard is all about? We have a dedicated thread over here! But what's the fun in just keeping to ourselves? Branching out be cool, yo, be it in forging story connections or having events pitched to us -- I'm only one person (even if I'm the leader) so I can't fully guarantee group-wide interest in any given event given how big we are, but I do promise to give em a chance myself if I have the time on my plate, eh? That sounds like a pretty swell deal. I'm not a used car salesman. Link to comment
Thunderbolt300 Posted April 13, 2017 Share #2 Posted April 13, 2017 Hey dude! I can potentially offer up some allies/accomplices with the Mischief's Coven free company. Our sphere of influence is largely limited to Gridania, but at the same time we're all over the place. In essence it's a tavern front for the mob and organized crime ranging from drugs, hired muscle, slavers and everything in between. While relatively small, we have a pretty heavy amount of churn generally on a nightly basis (12-21 people), so there's usually someone RP'ing around the tavern in the late afternoons/evenings. You can read the nitty-gritty details on the general tone of the Coven and how some of it works via the link in my signature, but it's always cool to sign on new contacts regardless! We have an IC LS specifically for contractors / family communication too, if that helps. 1 Link to comment

That would be pretty awesome actually -- we've gotta get some stuff going first of course but having been to the Mischief's Coven's tavern night myself I'd love for Ebonguard to get some connections there, even if they're relatively loose ones. :^D Been considering at the very least seeing about getting involved myself for a while, truth be told! Ebonguard will probably take a little longer to get things going but that's fine since I'm perfectly content to sing praises into the void; my own schedule permitting I may look into taking the plunge for myself soon www (On a seperate, completely unrelated note -- still seeking Ul'dahn law-enforcement! Not limited to Blades and Flames; independent investigators and the like are fine too, Blades or Flames just so happen to be preferred. But I mean. There's something to be said for the hard-boiled types!) Link to comment
Thunderbolt300 Posted April 17, 2017 Share #4 Posted April 17, 2017 You're certainly more than welcome to pop by just about anytime- criminal/underworld types would have heard the rumor that you can order a bloody mary and get a backroom meeting with one of the mob bosses, which is the means to obtain the linkperl to stay in touch with the Coven proper and the other independent contractors (also easy to tell if there's RP going on in the tavern too- which there usually is). I feel ya though- with as much churn as there is, finding the time to loop around is troublesome at best. Regardless, best of luck mate- hope to finally catch you sometime IC! 1 Link to comment
zaviire Posted April 22, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted April 22, 2017 Update! I do believe the personal plot is good-to-go; another one of the people involved in said plot managed to find some Flames. Hopefully getting it off the ground doesn't take too long; I'm pretty excited. ₍₍ ◝(●˙꒳˙●)◜ ₎₎ Ebonguard is still open and looking for nonmember connections though! It's a big, scary world out there! What would a network be without connections? Nothing, that's what. We have an LS plot arc planned that starts with some plotting and planning. As a sort of proof of concept, Phase One isn't meant to be thwarted but it's designed to kind of catch some attention from an IC standpoint, so hey, that's a thing! Link to comment
