Noble Ishgardian Idea Needs Critique

Recommended Posts

Howdy again. I've been working on an elezen character for some time now and was hoping to get some feedback here since I don't know the exact specifics when it comes to Ishgardian lore. Without further ado:

Ex-Ishardian Noble

  • Second child of Vuiloux House. Has an older brother who was deemed a heretic and took his own life to save the purity of his family's name. She was very close to him and this was the beginning of many strained ties between her and her family after learning of the truth (he was innocent, used as a scapegoat) and failing to have her parents see reason.
  • Used status to find her way into whatever armed forces that the Ishgardians have, trained as a lancer (not a dragoon) and served in whatever kind of wars that occurred during her time. While treated as the stereotypical "spoiled brat" who bought her way into the forces, she had considerable talent with a lance.
  • During one of the later skirmishes during Heavensward, her right arm was severed/destroyed by whatever means and she was dismissed because of her injury. She returned home and left again several months after multiple disagreement with her parents.
  • Before she left, she visited the machinist's guild headquarters for several months before retreating from Ishgard out of curiosity. It was there that the noblewoman found her love for the craft and soon commissioned a magitek arm to replace her missing one.
  • Currently, she would be working on her own things in her workshop near Ul'dah/Limsa. After serving in the forces, she would suffer from a minor form of PTSD and avoid meat in general. She would also suffer from phantom limb pain and sometime be seen picking at her arm.

I love elezen and I'm a sucker for knightly/chivalric toons. My suggestions would be:

- play through the Convictory & Scholasticate side quests, as well as the 51-60 DRK job quests to get a better idea of Ishgardian religious dynamics and how being highborn/lowborn informs so much of their society

- the magitek prosthetic sounds like it would be a commissioned project from Garlond Ironworks, unless you're going to have her build it herself

- if you want further drama you could write that her arm was chomped off by one of Nidhogg's horde, giving her a hatred of dragons that lasts even after the war's end

I'll totally go through all of those things and apply them to the character. Thanks for the help!
