Erah'sae Posted July 28, 2017 Share #1 Posted July 28, 2017 Just a heads up. Due to RL sewage issues, my front yard is being torn up as early as Monday. This will probably end up severing the fiber line to my house as runs above the main sewage line. This will be out for a currently in-determined amount of time until work can be completed and C-Spire can fix the issue. This will impact both the Discord RP Event Notification bot and the weekly calendar posts until such time as services are restored. I’d also like to take this time to point people at the patreon for the Calendar / Discord bot at: https://www.patreon.com/BalmungRPCalendar. If you’re wondering how you can help, that’s a good place to go or our old rarely publicized “tip jar” here: https://twitch.streamlabs.com/lethann. I will continue efforts to turn this into a cloud based system (with a traditionally hosted fall back) if things go well and the house decides I’ve paid off enough karma at an accelerated rate for me to afford the dev time / hosting costs. We apologize for the inconvenience. Link to comment
Thunderbolt300 Posted July 28, 2017 Share #2 Posted July 28, 2017 Man, there's just something about backhoes, contractors, and fiber runs. Here's hoping you get reconnected soon! Link to comment
Erah'sae Posted July 28, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted July 28, 2017 Man, there's just something about backhoes, contractors, and fiber runs. Here's hoping you get reconnected soon! It hasn't happened yet. They're just digging up my front yard on Monday or Tuesday as we have a break in the main drain pipe, sewage backing into the house, etc... The fiber line goes directly over the sewer main so double the fun... Link to comment
Thunderbolt300 Posted July 28, 2017 Share #4 Posted July 28, 2017 Yeah, that sucks- especially sewage backing up. Speaking from experience, any time any contractor does work near a fiber run, the backhoe inevitably tears the damn thing up (even if they're told to use shovels and be careful). Then another contractor has to come out and fusion splice it back together, which can take a good day. So, even if it hasn't happened yet, I hope it goes quick! The old joke, "if you're ever lost in the woods and have a strand of fiber with you, bury it and wait for the backhoe to arrive" has some grains of truth in it. Link to comment
