New FFXIV RPer here! [Mateus & Diabalos]

Hi there! I've been playing FFXIV for a few months now, and wanted to get my feet wet with RP. I'm RPing with an alt, U'xhela Tia on Mateus, but my main is Auberi on Diabalos. ^^

 

MMORPG background: Oh hell, this is going to date me probably, but I played vanilla WoW back in the day. This is my first MMO since. 

RP experience: I've done quite a bit of forum RP, but not recently. I'm likely very, very rusty. 

Character ideas/info: U'xhela hails from the Forgotten Springs. A curious spirit, he tends not to stick to one place for long these days, though it wasn't always the case. With a background in crafting and no small amount of healing, he's decided to get some new experiences in the pugilist guild in Ul'dah. 

How did you learn about the coalition? I think I just googled FFXIV RP and it popped up. 

What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? (e.g. Light, medium, or heavy) Maybe light to medium? I'm not sure, yet, but I'm a pretty chill person. 

Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc.) I currently teach in Asia, so my schedule is a little odd, but I'm pretty active on weekends. I love writing and gaming. I'm currently playing Mass Effect 2 (again). 

 

As this is my first time RPing in an MMO, I think I'm mostly confused about how to start? Is it easiest to go to the looking for connections page? Or discord?

Hey there, and welcome to the RPC! Congratulations on taking the first steps to getting into the RP world. These are like, the most difficult, so it's all smooth sailing from here!

 

I played WoW off and on for a bit, swapping between this and that.. but I spend more and more time in XIV. I promise you, RP in XIV isn't super tough! If you get a group together, or heck even one person makes all the difference and can help get the ball rolling so you're more confident.

 

In terms of like, where to find it? Well, there is Forum RP here. The community on here is super kind and warm. Rusty or not, I'm sure plenty of folks would happily hop in and RP with you. It's like riding a bike, right? There are sections for that, and even a section that has in game events. There seems to always be something happening somewhere. Inns/taverns, or even just around the ones in major cities are always bustling. You're guaranteed to bump into someone or two and make some memories.
