Rumors abound along the streets of Kugane, that if a man were to ask the right questions, share a drink with the right people in the local Hostelry, or perhaps he's just wandering down Shirogane's idyllic shores where he would discover a gathering of men and women from all walks of life caught in merriment, drunkenness, gambling, and fisticuffs. It's said that this gathering comes twice per moon at the behest of a man named Vicktis Leeward though little is known of those that orchestrate the gathering, this much is known to all who gather at the moving venue; just beyond the reach of the Sekiseigumi. The band of brawlers always seem one step ahead of the law since the last time they were raided for their illegal assembly.

Gold and glory await those willing to risk their neck

The Bloodshore Brawlpub is an event inspired by similar events held on Balmung Server of Final Fantasy XIV -- a bi-weekly gathering of fighters, brawlers, and ne'er-do-wells to roll in the dirt and generally exact mayhem to the amusement of gathered spectators and gamblers. The fights held therein are considered no-holds-barred, and all that is outlawed is the usage of weapons and magic, and death. Combatants have been known to lose eyes and fingers, pride and dignity to the bloody ring.

While ultimately, the injuries taken by each combatant are up to the player, the outcome of each attack is decided by opposing rolls of dice; due to the structure of the event, no character sheets are required, making it easy for combatants who have never participated to jump in on the event. The dice element helps to ensure fair fights while still keeping things easy and accessible. Those who would rather not fight are encouraged to spectate and place bets upon the outcomes.

We have set up house in the Discord Server (Link below) with a roll bot and separate channels for dice combat as well as Brawl-related chatter. Request the Brawler role for access!

Rules

Combat is held between two or more combatants; opposed dice rolls are to be held in the Bloodshore Brawlpub's Discord Server
and rolls held elsewhere will not be counted. Please keep chatter within the room to a minimal level; spectators are welcome to be privvy to the rolls as well, should they wish to join the room.

  • Each combatant rolls for initiative -- the command to roll is !r 1d20. The highest roll wins
  • The attacking player writes their emote in General, preceded with a ">>" in order to set the emote apart from the general chatter. Once they have posted, they roll the die -- !r 1d20
  • The defending playing rolls their die to defend -- !r 1d20. If the defender rolls higher than the attacker, they have successfully avoided the attack either in part or in full; a lower roll, however, means that the attack was successful. In the event of a tie, the roll is awarded to the defender. After determining the result, the defender then posts to show the effect of the attack, and levy their own in response.
  • The attacker and defender switch roles and repeat, starting with the attacker's roll. The defender is now on the offensive and the attacker is defending.
  • The first person to win three contests wins the match; remember that it isn't "first to three" in character. The losing character will be KO'd, submit, or tap out on their third loss as determined by the character's player. We do this so as to keep fights relatively short.

Special Rules

Criticals:
In the event of a critical success (natural 20) on an attack, unless the defender rolls the same, the attacker gets a +5 modifier on their next defense roll (!roll 1d20+5). The attack succeeds and there should be homage considered to its impact when the defender is scripting their failed defense.

Other Considerations:
You should know there is a good chance for serious injury but it is also up to each person to decide just how impacted their characters are. There are, of course, magical remedies that could hasten recovery or perhaps you'd like your character to suffer through a longer healing process (or not heal at all). The choice is yours.
