Hello, I'm Passion.
My friends had introduced me to this place although they don't RP heavily or at all.
This is my first real MMO and I have absolute zero RP experience.

My main is a fresh Miqo'te named N'eco.

I think going from a light casual RP'er to a bit more medium is the big goal, but I at least want to RP correctly even at a casual level.
I'm about to read the Handbook, Etiquette, and Beginner's Guide from this forum, but besides that, I don't know where to begin.
What's your RP formulating process?
 

Currently staying home due to covid-19, procrastinating my online studies by doing stuff like this at 5AM!

I tend to think of a rough character concept that I'd like to explore, generate an appearance that helps convey the personality of the character, then hop into the game world and learn about the setting and lore through the quests and NPCs. This makes it easier for me to figure out where my character can fit into the world and what their strengths and conflicts might be.

Asking questions is a great start. Personally, I would recommend visiting the Quicksand in Ul'dah or roaming the streets to see all the random, PUG-based RP around the city. You can do something commonly called "lamping", which is to say, you just eavesdrop and watch other people RP. This is a great way just to see it in action, get a sense of the syntax, and then you'll have a fairly good idea on what to do from there. Character-wise, you'll want to try and bake a concept and story for the character, and once you have that, you can look for good tie-ins with other characters.
