E'irawen Posted September 6, 2013 Share #1 Posted September 6, 2013 I was curious if there was a list of who plays who in the English version? A friend and I keep hearing some voices going "Hm that sounds like X from Y" but we weren't sure. Link to comment
ShoggMommy Posted September 6, 2013 Share #2 Posted September 6, 2013 I've been wondering this myself. I saw a list of the Japanese VAs somewhere but not the English. Link to comment

Clover Posted September 6, 2013 Share #5 Posted September 6, 2013 Thank you! That was an interesting read. I had no idea that Papalymo and Sakaya from Madoka were the same person. I've just been thinking that I adore his voice. Link to comment
Rinh Hallani Posted September 6, 2013 Share #6 Posted September 6, 2013 Gideon Emery is Urianger in the English version. There was an article confirming it, as well as the other English actors, but it's been taken down. However, the comments seem to confirm it's the case. Plus, I'd recognise the voice of Fenris (DA2) anywhere haha. Link to comment
Fulcrum Posted September 6, 2013 Share #7 Posted September 6, 2013 They're still working on it, but IMDB has a listing. Link to comment

allgivenover Posted September 6, 2013 Share #9 Posted September 6, 2013 Shuichi Ikeda voicing Lahabrea was reason enough for me to set it to Japanese voices permanently. He's the Darth Vader of Japan if you were wondering. -6QE9W3342I He's getting older now, but his voice is so distinct and powerful and I love hearing it when I don't expect too. Link to comment

I didn't know who his voice actor was, but I like him. Link to comment
Rinh Hallani Posted September 6, 2013 Share #11 Posted September 6, 2013 Fenris??? @__@ Albeit I still won't play with English voices, I must say that I absolutely loved Fenris in DA2. I didn't know who his voice actor was, but I like him. Yeah, I loved him too! He was also quite a few sylvari NPCs in GW2. Now that was a pleasant surprise when I clicked on them. Link to comment
Vinter Posted September 6, 2013 Share #12 Posted September 6, 2013 Any way to change to Japanese voice acting? The English voice actors aren't what you would call "great". Also, I did recognize one female character voice as Kobayashi Yuu, and one male voice as Okamoto Nobuhiko. Link to comment
Clover Posted September 6, 2013 Share #13 Posted September 6, 2013 Yeah, I loved him too! He was also quite a few sylvari NPCs in GW2. Now that was a pleasant surprise when I clicked on them. Ah, I missed that because I muted the voices in GW2. I couldn't stand seeing my 15 years old character with the voice of a very grown up woman *sweatdrops*. Any way to change to Japanese voice acting? The English voice actors aren't what you would call "great". Also, I did recognize one female character voice as Kobayashi Yuu, and one male voice as Okamoto Nobuhiko. System configuration > Other settings ^^ Link to comment

Also, I did recognize one female character voice as Kobayashi Yuu, and one male voice as Okamoto Nobuhiko. The mileage seems to vary on the English voice cast. Some are well known pros who are very good. Some not so much. The only one that annoyed me so far is the scions leader who's name escapes me at this moment. Her voice actress is awful. But there really isn't enough voice acting in the game for me to care what language it's in anyway. It's only for a few select cut scenes. Link to comment

I didn't know who his voice actor was, but I like him. Gideon Emery was also Balthier in 12. I loved Fenris his broodiness inspired my friend to be a brooder for a week, he had three offers to get married it was scary. But hey DA2 was alright(Only humans were playable, It bothered me five-ever.) Link to comment
Moondoggie Posted September 6, 2013 Share #17 Posted September 6, 2013 Upon checking the Japanese voices option i noticed the subtitles still display for the English language version it was kind of funny. They are completely wrong for what is being said in Japanese Link to comment
Mooncalling Posted September 6, 2013 Share #18 Posted September 6, 2013 So this is probably a dumb question, but I have yet to hear any voice overs in any of my cut scenes- neither English nor Japanese. Am I missing a setting somewhere to turn them on? Link to comment
Moondoggie Posted September 6, 2013 Share #19 Posted September 6, 2013 There are not many scenes with voices in them. Just a couple of key storyline scenes. The first one as i recall is right at the start with the crystal. Link to comment

Dravus Posted September 8, 2013 Share #22 Posted September 8, 2013 The voice acting is pretty hit and miss, but that's not surprising - it's pretty much the case for every MMO out there at the moment. I've played enough RPG's over the years to learn to tune a lot of the voice acting out and just focus on the text instead. It's what I do when the likes of Yda speak, anyway. Link to comment
