This doesn't mean I don't mind answering them in game of course, but I think an F.A.Q. should still be helpful. when does it end. Technically? when no one else is there. Practically? the last few have run pretty late, 4-5 hours. Wow the same people for 4-5 hours?! Nope, as i'll cover below, this is an "open" event, your only obligation is to enjoy it, the duration and participation of your character is completely up to you, many stay for half an hour, some for longer. Do I need to bring anything? or look a certain way? Nope! no attire is "required" you'll IC likely be reprimanded for bringing in a weapon though. A fee? Nope, IC there is no fee, in fact food and drink are provided by the house on that evening, and while we might "stop the grog" at a certain level of rowdiness, the only gil that need change hands is tipping the rather over worked servers and bar keep. Why would my character be there? Who knows, the tavern is along a main road between camp Black Brush and Ul'dah, this road can lead up to the west towards vesper bay and Limsa beyond, or to the East, up through to the Shroud. Northwards is Mor Dhona, it was chosen in part due to its place along the "life lines" of trade. How open is open... The event has no affiliation with any particular organization, people i'm not particularly fond of IC are still invited due to the events nature as a time to place those things aside. the only OOC request is that you come prepared to see a flood of chat, I highly recommend increasing the size of your chat window during this which leads me to... Wow thats a lot of chat.. what about Roleplay in Party or tell? I'll be keeping in /say and /em, I understand that for the sake of organization /party is helpful, and far be it from me to say what people can and can't do. But please make an effort to acknowledge and glance at /say from time to time. A lot of cross tavern swearing, gesturing and eyebrow waggling will be missed otherwise. I've got a few more questions... THEN ASK DON'T JUST TRAIL OFF AN AUUUGH /tableflip I would like to preform/offer a service/advertise. Then we need to speak in character, arguably Konner even more so. Why exactly are you doing this? To bring people together, sounds a bit silly I know, but imagine for a moment being a legacy player who enjoys observing social gatherings you've been playing since the beta of 1.0, you keep to yourself most of the time, but like watching and listening to other people (ssshhhh I know that sounds creepy, i'm Duskwight its a thing). Looking around and noticing that a good portion of new players are still trying to meet people and get their legs under them. A lot of established people are working in their groups on narratives that while highly enjoyable have a certain isolation about them. Why not offer an opportunity for the new to meet old? to give the old an opportunity "let their hair down" as it were, and to give the new the chance to see that they are just as much a part of this world as the rest of us. Or perhaps you meant in character. its a secret! well more of a "cover" but thats information you'll have to pry it from my cold, dead, abnormally long fingers. I think those were the major ones... We don't have official numbers, as an emergency occurred midway through, but we know that we had roughly 75-85 people show up!!!! People were actually still showing up into the midnight EST hour. We got very positive responses again. We are honored to be able to do this for all of you. I know several people that made brand new friends last night so for us that is a success. Legacy members, you need to start coming and staying some. As a legacy member myself, I would like to see more of you here for a longer time then just an appearance. The community is only as good as all of us make it. For the new people who came and were excited, we all hope to see you again at our next one!!!! The staff worked VERY hard at this. I hope everyone appreciates them. It is difficult to explain how much work goes into organizing these things unless you are part of the ones doing it. Our next one will be in January and we will be posting that date and time here. Let's continue to make these a success for all those people out there whom desire a jumping off point to get into the community. Again thanks to all who helped and attended!!! It's the least I can do to support events, even if I can't make every single one out there. Things are picking up out of no where (6 applications of various kinds in 24 hours!), but in a good way. I'll possibly be out of town for an SCA event on the 25th (waiting to hear back about it still), but I'll see about sending a contingency of my crew out to the event.
