Aartur the Keeper continues to look back and forth between people, retaining his apologetic grimace. "Ouch... Wha-...?" he mumbles as the Lalafell kicks him in the ankle, hissing up to the Miqo'te, "Well, say something... Something understandable, preferably..."

"Bu-but... she looks mad... What if she yells? I don't want to be yelled at... Ouch!" Aartur says, followed by another kick to the ankle and a stern look from his comrade. Of course, everything the Miqo'te said would be easily heard by everyone at the table. He turns toward the woman, opens his mouth... but no words come out as his voice seems to draw a blank.

"Good!" The large Hyur say's brightly in response to Kie's words. Obviously happy that she is fine. Looking to Aartur and his compatriot whom was playing a solo version of 'kick the Keeper', trying to get him to say something not yammer'y. Looking between the both of them slowly as he raised a brow.

Suddenly; FOOD! The waitress returned with a bowl of stew and what looked like a mug of ale. Which the Hyur greedily went into the second it dropped on the table. For how strange his appearance was (Pink shirt, fight wraps, bloodied and bruised) it looked even stranger when he nearly shoved his head into the bowl of food like a dog. Even making some snorting sounds as he nearly inhaled his food. Obviously the monster of a man was hungry.

Breaking away only to suck down as much of the ale he could between chewing the delicious meat from the bowl he just ransacked with his face.

Kieaira held the cup up to her lips and slowly turned her head to look at the other Keeper as he was kicked by the Lalafell, she was pretending to be drinking, but really she was just trying to hide behind the mug.

The sound of snorts drew her attention back to the Hyur male, whom seemed to have invited himself to the table, not that she cared one way or another, she assumed Ryan or Elisan would invite the others to join at some point anyways. She blinked a few times, still hiding the lower half of her face behind the mug, and once more shifted her pale blue eyes to the Miqo'te and his Lalafell companion.

"I don't yell..." she said softly, though it would be muffled by the mug and come out more like. "Eh on't eiell"

It seemed quite a commotion had come to their table... And another pair of strange adventurers. A man who seemed as frantic as Kieaira, a large bulking of a man who seemed quite casual, and a rather abusive Lalafell who seemed to be the keeper of the previous Hyur. No response was given by Ryan, who rubbed his chin then took a glance at Elisan to make a shrug at the unexpected new commotion. Perhaps scenes like these were common in "rich" Ul'dah.

He looked back at the man who was trying to apologize, but could not find himself the ability to do so.

"I dare say, you just found your soul-mate here... Our Miquo'te friend here is not angry, just a bit easily frightened. An apology will do no wrong."

The Hyur received the odd thought that he seemed to have become a mediator at this point. Though perhaps the joke he started with would cause more harm than good to these shy people.

Resisting the urge to make another shrug, he took another sip of his ale, waiting to see what the responses would be.

The Keeper blinked, "M-my what? I... I um..." The Dunesfolk must have kicked him again, as he jumped slightly, "E-er... I... I'm Aartur... Aartur N-Nelhah... Th-this is a... a peer, Yayaan Tutuan... Er... Um... Sorry... again..."

The Lalafell, Yayaan, nodded politely to the others, "...A pleasure," he said curtly.

Kieairas face turned a bright red from behind the mug, quite embarrassed by the Hyurs' statement. She shook her head and felt the mug slip from her hand, falling to the floor with a crash that made her jump once more, a small amount of cream dribbling across the floor towards Aartur.

"S-sorry..." She said, feeling even more embarrassed, her ears drooping, wishing she could disappear. I am such a klutz... Oh I should just go back home... She thought, a look of doubt crossing her features, how she hated being so awkward.

Aartur blinked down at the cream and grabbed a rag that had been left on a nearby table. Getting down on hands and knees, the odd fellow cleaned up the spill before the staff had a chance to... which unfortunately led him under the table and right up next to the only person whose timidity had ever rivaled his own.

The carbuncle had hopped off his shoulders and perched atop Yayaan's head, much to the Lalafell's dismay. Picking up the pieces of the glass, Aartur looked up, ears flattening as he realized where the mess had led him to. Not waiting for a reaction, he jolted up a bit, bumping his head on the underside of the table before scurrying back to where he had been standing before.

Yayaan looked up to his comrade, "...Masterfully done."

Oh great elementals... Ryan thought to himself with a slight frown. There were many clumsy people in Eozera, even himself sometimes included, but the two present before him were nothing he had seen before. It was as if he was watching a play by actors as the table made a thud and some food from the table bounced off the plates. He thought it best to perhaps keep the jests to himself whenever interacting with these two.

"Well, Masters Aartur and Yayaan, why don't the both you have a seat as well, seemingly as how we've all become acquainted now and the other tables full. We were speaking of our birth homes and the adventures we have had as part of these guilds. Please, tell me yours."

He gestured lightly to the empty seats for the two partners.

"Ryan Aphelion is my name, from a small port village near Limsa Lominsa."

"Whurt?" Is all the Highlander said between a mouthful of food when Kie had originally addressed Aartur. Since he couldn't tell what she was saying either. It was like some sort of cryptic gibberish. Looking to his fellow Hyur (Though a bit more vertically challenged probably?) whom had spoken up about the two Catkin. Chuckling between the mouthful of meat he was slowly crunching down, he once again graced everyone with his voice. Just muffled. I wonder if anyone ever taught him to not talk with his mouth full?

"Eeergh-xerktly. Ey wuu be perfuct tuugeda so bar." A bit of the food which he had been eating popped out of his lips while he spoke, not deterring him in the least from continuing trying to talk.

Atleast this time he swallowed his food before talking. "Name's Baer, as well. Since were all getting acquainted." Strangely enough he was the one who just decided to sit down at the table without any forewarning or even asking-sort of pushing himself on them. Maybe it was his culture that was so...friendly? Probably not. Maybe he was just that kind of person who just takes liberties in situations like this.

"Pleasure to meet you, Yayaan, Aartur." He said brightly. Then turned his head to Ryan. "You as well, Ryan!" Then motioned to Kie and Eli. "And you fine ladies are?" Idly setting down the bowl of stew and his mug of ale. Beginning to unravel his hands from the fight wraps without having to look at them.

A small bonk from below the table brought the 'Landers attention to Aartur whom had taken to kneeling and cleaning for some reason. Left brow raising up along his tall forehead as he watched the man nearly scramble to his feet. "Why were you down there?" Having completely missed the fact that something crashed and broke earlier. Being the glass of cream that Kie was holding. If only we could see into the mind of that glass as it fell down to the hard ground. What would it say?

I'm freeeeeeee!

Something along those lines. Baer was just oblivious though. Maybe he was just so used to the sound of breaking glass to even notice within a inn or bar.

Kieaira's eyes went wide as she looked down at her feet where the mug had fallen only to find the other Keeper literally a breath away. She let out a squeak as he bonked his head, and found herself scrambling into her chair at the back of the table, her ears wilted as she looked for something to hide behind, silently scolding herself as she did so.

Stop being so silly... He's obviously no threat, and all your doing is drawing more unwanted attention to yourself.

"S-sorry..." She mumbled softly, forcing herself to look away from Aartur and towards the man whom had introduced himself as Baer, though his manners could use some work she seemed more comfortable speaking with him and Ryan than she did just being near Aartur.

"Kie.... Kieaira." She said softly, hoping the red of her cheeks would fade away quickly.

Your comment is most welcome K'nahli! Thank you! And you are more than welcome to join in on the conversation as well. =^-^=

Elisan had been momentarily distracted by..something..ruby gaze cast off in no particular direction as she appeared to watch some invisible thing move across the room toward their table. She exchanged a glance between the two miqo'te which moved on to the others at the table as if she were intently studying ..who knows what.  It wasn't until Aartur bumped his head under the table that she was jostled back to the here and now. A momentary blink before she smiled, somewhat apologetically to anyone who might have noted her state of unaware. Unaware. That wasn't the right word at all. She was exceedingly aware of certain things, which was part of her problem.

The large hyur had asked her a question. Her name, oh yes! "I'm called Elisan - pleased to meet you".

"Pleasure to meet you, Kieaira! And you Elisan!" He say's brightly to the Skitty-kitty and the much more mature ruby-eyed-woman. Chuckling gently as he continued to unwrap his hands. Taking the padding for his knuckles from underneath the first layer and looking at everyone in turn. Then landing back on Kie with his bright blue eyes.

Then zip them right over to Ryan. Then back to Kie. And back to Ryan. And back to Kie. Then right to Aartur and Yayaan. Then to Eli. Then back to Kie.

"So." Several moments pass. "What brings all y'all to this fine city? Or as Ryan said-birth homes and all that. Stories especially. Especially that." Still unwrapping his hand slowly. Letting the dirtied wraps coil in his lap like a lazy snake.

((Finished Editing: Give me a heads up if I missed something.))

Aartur flinched. Oh dear, he'd done it again. "E-er... no... my fault... sorry..." He looked to the others, remaining standing despite the invitation to sit. It's much easier to retreat if you're standing. Back onto his shoulders, the carbuncle jumped, to the relief of Yayaan.

"Um... oh, right, and this is Kyubey," Aartur spoke as he motioned towards the carbuncle, "I... um... I live in... Gridania, but I visit here often... o-on account of my sister, who lives here..."

Yayaan, on the other hand, scrambled up into a seat, light green eyes finally visible above the table, "I live here, in Ul'dah," he said simply, "so I come for the drink and food." Aartur decided that, presumably for protection, he would move behind the chair Yayaan sat in, across the table from the skittish girl. A glance to the tall Hyur is given by the Keeper, "Um... she dropped her drink... so I was... um... cleaning it up... that was... er... it was stupid of me, sorry..."

Kieaira peered at Aartur, trying to figure him out, though her mind was often contradicting itself. He's from Gridania... Did he follow me? No, of course not stupid, you've never seen him before... or have you?

She shook the thoughts from her head, finally praying her pale blue eyes away from the Miqo'te and back towards Baer. "I'm from Gridania as well..." She glanced at the Keeper to see his reaction, and then quickly glanced back at Baer, trying to find the words to explain exactly why she had come to Ul'dah ... but she just did not feel comfortable revealing any secrets to these strangers. "I... uh... I came to learn." She finally blurted out. It was true... maybe not the whole truth, but it was what they were getting from her, at least for now.

The redhead just waves off Aarturs last words. Smiling brightly to him warmly. Akin to a small sun. "No need to say sorry, was just wondering. And it's not stupid." Tilting his head to the side slowly afterwards. The silver pieces in his braided hair glinting gently as he thought a moment. "Ah-hah. Makes sense. Family. Good reason to visit. I would visit mine-but not welcome." Then looked over to Kie as she spoke.

Then glanced back at Aar. And back to Kie. "You both are from Gridania! Is everyone from there as timid as you two?" He say's playfully. Not meaning it as a insult in anyway obviously. "Never been there myself."

Focusing back in on his wraps, he finished removing them from one hand. Revealing his heavily bruised knuckles. Closing his hand slowly he made them crack just a little. ~pop~pop~POPPOP~ for every single finger. First two knuckles on that hand covered in callous thicker then two layers of cloth.

He kept his eyes on his hand as he stretched it idly a few times before looking back up at them all with that same smile. "I'm from Limsa. Here for competition. Ul'dah has too many for me to not make some of them."

Waiting several seconds before he began on the other wrap. Looking to Kie. "So what did you come to learn?"

Aartur cocked his head to the side, towards the other Miqo, "Er... I... I've never seen you in Gridania before... but... I really don't see a lot if people, really... I usually have my nose in a book, so people don't bother me a lot..." His ears perk when she says she's learning, "Th-thaumaturgy? Alchemy?"

Yayaan seemed content to listen, and Aartur turned his head toward the Highlander, "You... You fight? For a living? Wh-... Why?"

Turning his head to Aartur, Baer just smiled and chuckled. "Fighting is fun! It's far better then what I use to do. And it's relaxing to me." Stretching gently his free hand a moment before returning it to the bandages on his other hand. "Money's good as well."

"Never was one for using this muscle." Taps his forehead gently. More out of jest then honesty. "Better with this one." Taps his chest where his heart is. This time it was more honesty than jest.

Kieaira's ears twitch with each crack of the mans' knuckles, and she sunk down in the chair a bit more, she contemplated ordering another mug of cream, but she really didn't want to drop anything else today, so she simply went without.

"I've never seen -you- either." She remarked softly, not really looking at Aartur. She moved a finger to start following the wood patterns of the table, keeping herself busy so she wouldn't have to look at anyone.

Why are these people so nosey? What does it matter why I came here ... I'm here aren't I? Her lower lip stuck out slightly and she looked like she was pouting, though her soft words didn't reflect the way she was feeling. "Everything." She stated matter-o-factly. "I came to learn everything."

Suddenly she wished she had brought her book down from the room she had rented upon her arrival, then she could bury herself in her notes and no one would have paid even the slightest bit of attention to her... but it was no use wishing and thinking what if.

Kieaira sat up a bit, but kept her gaze on the table, her slender index finger continuing to follow the patterns.

Turning his head to regard Kie now. "Haughty goal! Hope you can do it. Just don't become a shut-in. Have a friend like that-he started speaking to the books and thinking they talked back to him." Voice rather silly at the moment, making it hard to tell if he's telling the truth or not.

Returning to unwrapping his other hand now. Leaving it bare as he stretched out the bruised hand. Dark purple encircling the uppermost part of his knuckles-Baer seemed no worse for wear though.

Then he looked up again. "And there are some things you can only learn outside a library!" Voice bright once more as he spoke.

Aartur gave a nervous chuckle, "Er... yes, those odd... people who talk to inanimate things..." he said, glancing to the carbuncle on his shoulders, "And... um... you would be surprised, sir... how much you can learn from books... if... if you read the right ones..." He glanced to Kie, "I... um... pardon the forwardness... but I'm rather impressed..." The Miqo'te gave a timid smile, an Yayaan, sitting in the seat in front of the lad, gave a short nod of agreement.

Link to comment

Impressed? Why would he be impressed? What did I do? Is he following me? ... Calm down Kieaira, you're mind is running away with wild theories again. Now stop it. Smile and say thank you.

Kieaira gives a very small smile towards Aartur and nods her head as she says "Thank you." Though her voice was barely above a whisper, and her cheeks flushed a rosey pink once more.

She places her hands back in her lap and looks towards Baer once more. "I think I have the shut-in thing down already..." She swallowed hard, she didn't really like to talk about herself, but she wanted to make friends, and so she forced herself to continue. "That's why I'm here... trying ... not ... to be ... that ... anymore." She furrowed her brow. Are you even making sense any more? This is why you just shouldn't say anything at all.

Link to comment

This girl doesn't like me... What did I do? Did I do something? I must have... It's probably because I keep bumping into things... I need to be friendly... Aartur tilted his head, "You... um... You, too? I only go to public places because my sister will drag me to them otherwise..." No, that didn't look friendly, now you look like a creepy hermit... Maybe Yayaan will save me?

The Lalafell was pretending to not notice Aartur's predicament, minding his tea. Sadistic little bugger.

Link to comment

Kieaira raised her brow, giving Aartur a look that said What are you crazy or something? She looked back down at the table once again, trying to figure out a way to respond that wouldn't sound like an insult, or make her look silly herself.

"Where's your sister now?" She finally said, in that soft tone that made it hard for others to hear over the hustle and bustle of the tavern... not her usual place for conversation, but she had heard it was a good place to make connections.

Kieairas eyes darted around the Inn, surveying those that passed by and sat and talked at other tables, none of them paying any attention to the small group of adventurers that had gathered around her.

Link to comment

Aartur's ears flattened as his suspicions were confirmed. Yup. I'm an idiot. His face grew red as he, too, looked around the room, avoiding eye contact with anyone, "I'm... um... I'm not certain, actually... She wanders... I think, so... um... yeah..." Hoping for a tangent off of the current topic, he looked to the others present, "Do... you all have family, too?" he mumbled, immediately frowning to himself afterwards. Of course they have family, you idiot. Did they just appear from thin air?
