Kieairakitty Posted September 27, 2013 Author Share #51 Posted September 27, 2013 Kieaira looks down at her hands in her lap, ears wilting once more as she hoped someone else would butt in and answer the question the other Keeper had asked. She reached up with one hand to scratch behind her ear, and let out a very soft sigh. Family... Her nose wrinkles at her thoughts. I am starting to think this male was sent her on some mission to force me into returning home... She let out another soft sigh, hoping it would go unheard over the louder sounds of the tavern. Shows up out of nowhere, gets my nerves all out of whack, preventing me from acting normal ... and then asks such frustrating questions... I don't belong here. Maybe the others will get to talking and I can silently slip out unnoticed. Slowly she lifted her head to see what the others were doing, hoping the Miqo'te male would be distracted as well. ryanxwonbin Posted September 27, 2013 Share #52 Posted September 27, 2013 OOC: Sorry, but I think I'll gracefully bow out of this RP. Classes and work doesn't allow me to post as much as you guys and reading through 10 posts when I come home is too much. >.> Link to comment
IncubusManatee Posted September 27, 2013 Share #53 Posted September 27, 2013 OOC: That's kinda my fault. Sorry about that. Didin't try and flood the RP like I did. Since I searched back a bit and...yeah. Link to comment
elisan Posted September 27, 2013 Share #54 Posted September 27, 2013 (Aww, its ok! Thats the nice thing about forum posting -you can come and go as you need to!) Elisan had been watching the interactions quietly for some time, caught between fascination and amusement. When there was a pause, she finally chimed in. "Seeking knowledge is always good - to become something more than you are is the best anyone can strive for. I'm here to learn as well" She nodded her pale head toward the male miqo'te, "Thaumaturgy". An faint wave of one slender hand as the other lifted a bit of the cheese from a plate, "I am also known to wander to different places doing a bit of ..." A pause as the witch thought of the best way to put it. "Fortune telling, I suppose". Link to comment
Fen Posted September 28, 2013 Share #55 Posted September 28, 2013 Thank Menphina, a subject change. Aartur let out a sigh of relief, nodding to the woman, "Ah... Arcanist... though that was probably obvious... because of Kyubey... So I read a lot... and think... and... do math..." he rambled. Now I sound boring... "I... um... I also sew..." Much better. Yayaan, finally speaking up, looked to the pale woman, "How long have you been involved in Thaumaturgy? Do you earn your income with it?" Link to comment
Kieairakitty Posted September 28, 2013 Author Share #56 Posted September 28, 2013 Kieaira was glad that the conversation had shifted to someone else, and she was free to bask in her own silence, watching as the Elezen and Miqo'te chattered on about different kinds of magic, which got her mind thinking about her own abilities ... a welcome change from worrying about some made up plot about being followed. Her eyes drifted to the small carbuncle with curiosity, she had seen them from afar, following their Masters around and doing their bidding, but never one up close. "It must take a fair bit of training to be able to summon one..." She said aloud without realizing it. Link to comment
Fen Posted September 28, 2013 Share #57 Posted September 28, 2013 Magic. Finally something I'm good at. Aartur nodded to the woman, "It takes a lot of study... And even then, it takes some time to get used to having that extension of yourself running around..." he stated, notably less timid than with prior topics. The carbuncle tilted its head at Kie from atop Aartur's shoulders. Looking to the Elezen, he inquired, based on Yayaan's question, "Er... Yes, it must take some time to learn enough thaumaturgy to read fortunes... Or is that independent of your studies...?" Link to comment
IncubusManatee Posted September 28, 2013 Share #58 Posted September 28, 2013 Baer just sat quietly eating at this point. Slowly munching on his food, much unlike how his ravenous self was earlier. Listening to the conversations ups and downs. How Kie literally spoke her mind earlier about the Carbuncle that Aartur had. The mention of Eli's 'Fortune Telling' profession while travelling. Overall he was just a receptacle for information as he sat there. Taking it all in in turn. Breathing in and out slowly as he continued to feast-until there was nothing left. Bringing his attention onto his drink which was little than half fun-downing it quickly before setting it back down on the table. Nothing seemed to come out of the Red-haired man. Maybe he didin't have much to say about magic? Maybe he was just a quiet soul when getting to know people? Probably not the last bit, highchance it was the former. Taking to using the wraps he had been working off earlier as a sort of napkin as he wiped away bits of food from his face, then to wipe away some of the dried blood along his neck, face and head. All one could say right now about him is that he looked extremely observant as he preened himself. Looking brighter and happier over time as he got cleaner. Link to comment
Kieairakitty Posted September 28, 2013 Author Share #59 Posted September 28, 2013 Did... Did he just read my mind? Kieaira blinks sitting up a bit straighter as she stared at Aartur. You idiot ... you said that out loud. A rosy flush tinged her cheeks, but she tried to play it off as if she had meant to be speaking to him. "Oh I see..." Was all she could manage to say. She turned her attention back to Baer, cocking her head to the side and noting to herself how he reminded her a lot of a cat the way he cleaned himself, raising one hand she reached up and scratched behind her ear... Perhaps he was raised by Miqo'te? She found herself thinking, though she dared not ask and look the fool. She blinked a few times, hoping he had not caught her staring and shifted her gaze once more to the carbuncle, softly she made a few chittering noises, her tongue clicking against her cheek as she tried to get its' attention. She held her hand out, to try and entice the creature closer. Link to comment
elisan Posted September 28, 2013 Share #60 Posted September 28, 2013 Elisan nodded to the dunesfolk male and smiled faintly. "It's an art that does take time and patience to learn - I've been practicing awhile now but am not at all what I would consider mastered in the art. I do make use of it frequently over the course of a day. It's a great help in the field when I've been asked to do certain more unpleasant tasks - thinning the herds of the more dangerous creatures out there. That sort of thing". She shook her head at Aartur's question, "It is something independent from my studies though admittedly, having an affinity for magic has seemed to help. I followed the Spinner's threads long before I took up a staff". Her smile, while still present, did not lighten nor hide the passing sadness in her eyes. Link to comment
Vareli Silversmith Posted September 28, 2013 Share #61 Posted September 28, 2013 A hyur man steps into the bar, making his way up to the bar. He stands fairly tall for one of that race. His hair is dark, almost black. Strapped to his back is a shield, a blade at his side. He scans the room briefly before addressing the barkeep. "What can this get me?" he says as he slides him a coin. The barkeep takes the coin and leans down under the bar, starting to prepare his drink. Vareli turns back and scans the bar again, noting the different people in the bar. "The number of adventurers increases across the realm everyday..." he mumbles to himself. A slight tug on the corner of his tunic draws his attention back to the barkeep, his hand instinctively reaching for a hidden dagger near his belt. The barkeep nods at him, presenting the drink he had ordered. He takes the drink, thanking him as he steps toward the tables, sitting himself at an empty on near the corner of the room, back to the wall. "Wonder if there is any work to be found around here..." he thinks to himself. Link to comment
Fen Posted September 28, 2013 Share #62 Posted September 28, 2013 Aartur took note of Kie's beckoning to the carbuncle. With a discreet motion with his hand, Aartur nodded to the creature, which hops off his shoulders, onto the table, and weaved its way carefully past dishes and mugs toward the other Miqo'te, stopping a few centimetres short of her hand. Yayaan, the little Lalafell, nodded up to the woman before getting out of his seat, "Good luck, then, with your studies. As for me, I must be off. I have some business to attend to, pleasure meeting you all." With little more than a nod to the table, the Dunesfolk left the tavern, leaving poor Aartur alone with these new people. Aartur, for his part, blinked at the leaving Lalafell and sighed as he disappeared from view, looking back to the Elezen woman, "That's... um... rather fascinating, perhaps sometime, you could... um... attempt my fortune?" ((OOC: Taking Yayaan out, in order to simplify things. It's just Aartur, now, still standing. And Vareli, feel free to approach!)) Link to comment
Kieairakitty Posted September 28, 2013 Author Share #63 Posted September 28, 2013 Kieaira payed no attention to the disappearing Lalafell, nor did she really notice anything else, her gaze fixated on the shiny carbuncle as it moved closer, a half-smile creeping across her lips. She wiggled her fingers to try and entice it just a bit closer so she could attempt touching it, her curiosity running wild with all sorts of ideas of what one of these things would feel like. Again she made a few more chittering noises, her ears laying back in anticipation, she almost looked like an animal getting ready to pounce on her prey, her long white tail flittering back and forth between the hole in the chair that she sat upon. Fen Posted September 29, 2013 Share #64 Posted September 29, 2013 The little carbuncle advances a few steps to nuzzle Kie's hand carefully, its luminescent fur soft to the touch. Its master, Aartur, seems to be at least a bit more at ease, now, "Erm... don't worry, he won't bite. He isn't even in combat most of the time... more of a lookout for me..." he said, letting a small smile cross his face. Link to comment
Kieairakitty Posted September 29, 2013 Author Share #65 Posted September 29, 2013 Kieaira's ears perked right up once the carbuncle moved closer, allowing her to pet him. Her eyes widened with obvious joy ... she was a sucker for cute things, but then again aren't most girls? She gently slid her fingers through the soft fur, her smile widening enough to see the tips of her pointed canines, and she seemed, for once, to be completely calm and relaxed. Slowly she leaned back in the chair and moved her hand to pat at her lap, hoping the carbuncle would jump down and curl up in her lap, so she could continue to pet the small creature while the others conversed. 1 Link to comment
elisan Posted September 29, 2013 Share #66 Posted September 29, 2013 Elisan nodded politely to the departing lalafel and returned her attention to Aartur's question. "I would do that, any time you wish, yes" She patted the small dark pouch that sat on the table with its slightly square shape. A moment's pause to watch the little carbunkle meander across the table toward Kie and the witch smiled, giving Aartur a subtle nod of approval at the gesture. Link to comment
Fen Posted September 29, 2013 Share #67 Posted September 29, 2013 The carbuncle looks back at Aartur, as if asking approval. Aartur gives a little nod, and the creature hop into Kieaira's lap. It's somewhat on the small side compared to other carbuncle summons, and seems rather lightweight. Slowly, it curls up and settles down atop Kie's legs. Turning back to Elisan, Aart gave a timid smile, "That would be quite interesting, I think... What sort of things do you predict?" Link to comment
elisan Posted September 29, 2013 Share #68 Posted September 29, 2013 Elisan thought for a moment before answering. "It isn't so much about prediction, as it is about guidance. The threads of fate are many and our choices often dictate which path we will take and also, what lay at the end of it. Direct prediction is a tricky game. Generally, the most simple observation of the cards is enough and gives the one seeking answers plenty to think on. Telling people what they want to hear is for charlatans. There is a time and a place for that, mind, but I am not often one to do it." Link to comment
Kieairakitty Posted September 29, 2013 Author Share #69 Posted September 29, 2013 Kieaira's mouth opened and her hands raised up to her shoulders, balled into little fists and she looked like she was about to squee with delight, but stopped herself at the last second so as not to scare the little carbuncle that was now curled up in her lap. Slowly, she lowered her hands, resting on upon the carbuncles head, gently rubbing between its' ears as she shifted her attention to those around her. It seemed she had succeeded in not being bombard with anymore questions, that paired with the soft creature had calmed her nerves. She took the time now to regard the rest, eyes moving from Aartur to Elisan as they spoke, and then over to where Ryan had been, frowning slightly as she had missed his exit, then to Baer who had been busily munching and drinking (Which she assumed he still was doing), glancing then to where the Lalafell had been, again she frowned ... another departure missed. You're doing great at this whole making friends things... Her gaze then moving around the tavern, taking note of the various people who were busy about their business, including that of another Hyur man who was alone. (Vareli) She would have liked to invite him to join their conversation, but she was far too shy to approach, so instead she just shifted her attention back to the little creature she had quickly grown a fondness for. It's so much easier making friends with furry little creatures like you. She thought, gazing down at the carbuncle and smiling. Link to comment
Fen Posted September 29, 2013 Share #70 Posted September 29, 2013 The carbuncle seems to relax at the petting, settling down, though it's eyes remain open the whole time. Aartur smiles kindly towards the creature, though it is only a short glance at it and could be mistaken for smiling at anything in that direction. He seems to have also relaxed, looking back to the Elezen, "In any case, it would be interesting... How much... do you normally charge?" Link to comment
IncubusManatee Posted September 30, 2013 Share #71 Posted September 30, 2013 The large man did notice the Miqo'te paying attention to him for a moment until the focus was redrawn somewhere else. Mainly towards Aartur, his Carbuncle and Elisan. At this point he zoned out. Going into his own little world for awhile. Mind wandering back and forth between past and present as he let the food he just consumed digest a bit. Closing his eyes to breath in the new day and let out the old; an old tradition for him. What may or may not have bothered him the day before is now gone-and everything else is new. Alive. Beautiful! At this point a large smile was the only thing they could see on his face. Making him look beyond youthful, could say juvenile! Opening his bright blue eyes to look at them all in turn. Which now Kie had begun to pet and play with Aarturs Carbuncle, while Aartur kept a going conversation with Elisan. The strange sooth-sayer'esque woman. And someone was missing...that Lalafell! I guess he left...Didin't even get to say goodbye! Oh well. He thought quietly to himself as he leaned back in his chair. Spending some time looking around the bar at this point as he was not going to jump into Aarturs and Elisans conversation-and Kie needed a break in his mind from being asked questions. Since she came off even more skittish then a cornered jackrabbit. Tilting his head to the side as he peered about the excessively populated bar slowly. Link to comment
elisan Posted September 30, 2013 Share #72 Posted September 30, 2013 She lifted a shoulder noncommittally at Aartur's question. "I typically ask only for what the seeker deems it's worth". Carefully, she opened the pouch and produced a strange deck of cards. These she offered to Aartur. "You know how to shuffle cards? If so, shuffle them until you feel you're done. Otherwise, just hold them a moment". A faint smile, glancing toward Kie and the carbunkle, the highlander who seemed to be meditating and then she noticed that at some point Ryan had slipped off. Her attention returned to Aartur then as she waited for the deck to be returned. Link to comment
Kieairakitty Posted September 30, 2013 Author Share #73 Posted September 30, 2013 Kieaira seemed content with a smile on her face as she pet the carbuncle, though for a brief instant her entire demeanor changed, her ears lay flat, her eyes widened and the smile slipped from her face, even her hand paused from the slow stroking motion. Surely the carbuncle would notice the sudden change, but as soon as it came it went, and only those with a really good eye would notice. Something had been said that caught her attention but what exactly, would remain unanswered, as her smile returned and she brought her attention back to the carbuncle, her mind drifting into random thoughts once more. Fen Posted September 30, 2013 Share #74 Posted September 30, 2013 Aartur shuffles the deck, handing it carefully back to the Elezen, "Like that?" he said before turning his head toward Kei, sensing something briefly amiss by way of his summon. By the time he looks over, nothing seems to be wrong, though, so his attention diverts back to the fortune teller and her cards as little Kyubey the carbuncle settles back down. Link to comment
IncubusManatee Posted September 30, 2013 Share #75 Posted September 30, 2013 One of the few things was that Baer was in a contemplative and observant mood-which lead to him noticing the nearby 'Lander who approached the bar. (Whom is Vareli) Then the fact that the other 'Lander had left their table. Not sure when, just like the Lalafell. Assuming it happened while he was trapped within his own thoughts. Turning his head just within the small frame of time where Kie had looked over into nowhere and become rather...fearful looking? The crimson haired man had no clue, but he wasn't one to not ask in a situation like this. "Is everything okay?" Voice kind like before, but a bit of concern in his voice. Link to comment
